A New and Exciting Beginning

The End of an Era

@Combatwiki: I couldn't agree with your comment more. I've had a number of edh decks over the last few years, ranging from mono blue teferi to Intet the dreamer to 5 color reaper king. Saying that victory comes through reactive cards isn't true. Winning can come all different ways.

As an example, playing against a reactive deck would be an easy win for my teferi deck since the deck was designed to take away peoples ability to respond.

My current deck is ghost chieftain from the counterpunch commander box. I have maybe 2 or 3 "reactive" cards in the deck and yet I still win about 70% of the games I play by just playing powerful "proactive" spells that force my opponent to find answers, which are almost never at hand, as combatwiki points out.

I'm not saying reactive spells are bad, I'm just saying you don't need to always be responding to your opponent to win. I've played plenty of reactive spells in my edh decks. But if you build your deck right and play well you can win with almost any strategy.

But there's a reason they say the best defense is a strong offense.

Whenever a green nontoken creature you control becomes the target of a spell or ability controlled by an opponent, you may put a 2/2 green Wolf creature token onto the battlefield under your control.
"You could do that... but you'd probably just piss off the pack."

    Based loosely on Gush:

    Sudden Fatality 3BB
    Instant - U
You may return two swamps you control to their owner's hand rather than pay ~'s mana cost.
Destroy two target nonblack, nonartifact creatures.

If I manage to win somehow, make the runner up the judge. I'd rather not be judge.

Firstly, thanks for the nod to my last entry. I thought it was very undervalued by the judge but he earned the right to judge it as he pleases so I can't complain.

    Second, my entry:

    Jace's Skullcap 4
    Legendary Artifact - Augmentation {Mythic}
Whenever you activate an ability of the augmented planeswalker, you may put a loyalty counter on that planeswalker.
Augment 3 (3: If ~ isn't attached to a planeswalker, you may attach it to target planeswalker you control. Augment only as a sorcery. This card enters the battlefield unattached and stays in play if the augmented planeswalker leaves play.)
"Not everyones a natural like me. Some need a little unnatural help." --Jace Beleran

Its pretty straight forward, but just to clarify it basically works like equipment for planeswalkers. The only difference is that once it's attached to a planeswalker it can't be attached to another until the first leaves play.

The way this one works is that every time you use an ability your planeswalker gets an extra loyalty counter (If the ability was +2 loyalty counters you'd end up with +3 instead) or it gives you a counter back (If the ability was -2 loyalty counters you'd end up with -1 instead).

    2 IMPORTANT NOTES:
    (1) This doesnt mean that you can activate a -5 ability with only 4 counters. The augmentation doesn't put a counter on your planeswalker until after the ability has been activated and you wouldn't be able to activate the ability without the 5 counters to begin with.
    (2) If you have 5 counters on your planeswalker and you use a -5 ability THIS WILL NOT SAVE YOUR PLANESWALKER. The augmentation's ability would go on the stack, but before the ability could resolve, the game would see a planeswalker with 0 loyalty counters and promptly send it to the graveyard. Then when the ability tries to resolve, the planeswalker will already be gone.

And again, if I somehow manage to win, make the runner up the next judge. I doubt I'll be checking in often enough to judge.

Sorry for the extremely long post. I like things to be clear.

    Dragon Idol 4
    Artifact (R)
1, T: ~ deals 1 damage to target creature or player.
T, sacrifice a dragon: Put a token into play thats a copy of dragon idol
The power of humans fades in time. The power of a dragon is eternal.

When you said make a centerpiece I assumed you meant make a card that you can build a deck around. You could obviously build a dragon deck around this. Hope you like it.

If I should manage to win somehow, let the runner up judge. I dont check this forum often enough to be a judge.

I was reading it wrong. The way I read it I thought that you could fog OR win the game if damage would kill you. I wasn't seeing it as a mandatory fog.

I was actually just thinking about it as an artifact with charge counters lol but vanishing works out better... It would probably have to have shroud. And yeah something to stop it from comboing with aether snap.

Yeah we probably are, but I like this technical stuff soooo...

Yah, I don't think making it uncounterable would be too bad. It seems rather hard to get it to go off anyways so it should be ok.
