The flex spot most likely being Loxodon Smiter? Can replace him x3 with a mixed toolbox of the cards you mentioned plus maybe Tireless Tracker/Thalia, Heretic Cathar/Kitchen Finks. The possibilities are almost endless! Although Mindcensor can hurt you a little bit..
I really like the Rhonas though. Kessig Wolf Run shouldn't be only way to ensure damage getting in.
Okok I see, nothing wrong with a little bit of testing! I'd love to know it ends up feeling for you. I'm currently on the 5c Tribal build with Mantis Rider and CANNOT wait to cascade into him, and of course burn face for 5 this FNM.
So far, that 3cmc spot for me belongs to either 4x Mantis Rider in the Tribal Flames version because blue is easy to splash with the Noble Hierarchs, or 4x Tireless Trackers/4x KotR for all the value in the non-Tribal Flames version. in the non-Tribal Flames version, I also try with and without BBE replacing her with some walkers and a strombreath, which gives me some more endgame.
Mantis Rider is one of my favorite cards and I love that that Tribal Flames grows Tarmogoyf so I'll likely stick to this for a while.
Does my mana base need some tweaking? I have two black sources since land destruction seems relevant... but is it worth it? Does a Steam Vents fit better somewhere?
And the 2x Tireless Tracker can flex to either Rabblemasters or Geists of St. Traft. What's another faster 3-drop?
with bloodbraid elf OR collected company, wouldn't you rather run 4x mantis rider or 4x reflector mage instead of the spell quellers? spell queller's ability can be very underwhelming if cascaded/coco'd into.
I suppose I keep 1 fulminator mage in my SB because i don't see a lot of control in my local meta. but even still, splitting the macabres and fulminators 3 and 3 in the main seems right. this gives me a bit more versatility.
so perhaps just the 1 krosan grip is enough to diversify my SB a bit. I still have the 3x beast within in the main to deal with rest in peace and any other threat, but the 1 krosan grip in the SB still gives me that extra edge vs relic/spellbomb. it also messes up the arcbound ravager plan! and oblivion stone. am I forgetting anything?
So I just wanted to strongly suggest 1 or 2 copies or Krosan Grip. I had tough time dealing with Relic of Progenitus last FNM and Krosan Grip is just the card to stop relic. Not to mention, it also turns off and destroys Nihil Spellbomb and gets rid of a Rest in Peace... even if it's already done its damage! Krosan Grip seems like the best anti-GY hate, right?
This is all bad advice. Boros Reckoner is a good card but lacks synergy with what the posted deck is trying to do, which is get all its little dudes through. A lot of us jammed Reckoner in our mono red lists before we realized the Wolf just flat-out won us more games, so we slid Reckoner to the sideboard for aggro mirrors.
Ash Zealot is really good, and I would definitely try to find room for her. That said, BTE is a big reason to be running a lower curve. If he finds another two drop to chain with it would obviously be most effective.
The "can't block, won't block" redundancy in the deck is what makes it perform so consistently. Honestly the deck can't have enough of it.
I'm gonna have to to disagree. If this is the case with the dodge creatures, this list seems more like an AiR deck, especially if you throw dynacharges in there.
I'd maybe cut 2 lands and 2 pillars for 4 dynachrages if hellrider is the top of the curve here.
Also, another problem with BTE is that you lose steam way too fast if you chain her and you'll only be relying on topdecking into rather underwhelming creatures. I just don't think this list is as competitive as the list I've been running:
Firefist Striker, Pyreheart Wolf, and Goblin Shortcutter bassically just makes your guys unblock able. I haven't tested it but I'm thinking this would be good. I'm pretty sure I should have mauler in here though but I can't find room after adding shortcutter and I definitely don't want to cut lands...A bit of flooding isn't so bad as long as stonewright has a friend around.
Been a while since I've played RDW but with the first open being played with m14 out I'd rather go with a simple and effective strategy...Proven and not too hard to test. I'll look through the threads but I also wanna ask you guys which version of RDW do you believe to be the best? My buddy is telling me to just go gruul because of gore-clan but I really like the Dos Rakis version because it has falkenrath and dreadbore+doomblade to deal with reckoner or other annoying guys...But with mono-red #nevermulligan?
Boros Reckoner is the best red card in the format... why do you have 0 of them in that list?
I personally don't think BTE has a really good place in mono-red either. I'd also probably cut the 4x BTE for 4x Ash Zealot.
And it seems like 4x pyreheart wolf, 4x firefist striker, and 4x goblin shortcutter are way too much creature dodge. I'd pick one of those playsets and stick with it. It'd also give you room to put in 4x lightning mauler because haste is great in mono-red. That leaves you with 4 spots so maybe 2x madcap skills and 2x thundermaw hellkite would be the way to go. Or as I mentioned before, the 4x boros reckoner. Maybe even put 1 or 2 burning earth maindeck because A LOT of the decks in the current meta play nothing but non-basic lands.
the card straw soldiers itself says creature - soldiers as its creature type, but when i look it up in (for example) starcitygames.com or even the gatherer.wizards.com, it designates it as a scarecrow for its creature type.
my question is: will straw soldiers destroy a target permanent when it comes into play while my commander reaper king is in play?
+1 on the Flinthoof Boar, that was a great card to put with BTE, plus it had the ability for Haste. I hope they will make another good 2 drop to go with BTE in the upcoming sets that wont cost as much as a play set of Scavenging Ooze
Soooooo, if I attack with one of my creatures (tap it to declare attacker) and then before combat damage phase, I activate Slayers' Stronghold to give the creature +2/0, haste and vigilance.. does the creature untap because of it gaining vigilance?
I must sound really redundant, but I guess regeneration has always confused me.
If I attack with a 3/3 experiment one (two +1/+1 counters on it) and my opponen't vanilla 3/3 creatures blocks it, and I remove the 2 counters to regenerate my creature... does the 3/3 vanilla die or what?
I really like the Rhonas though. Kessig Wolf Run shouldn't be only way to ensure damage getting in.

Mantis Rider is one of my favorite cards and I love that that Tribal Flames grows Tarmogoyf so I'll likely stick to this for a while.
Here's my list:
4 Bloodbraid Elf
4 Noble Hierarch
4 Mantis Rider
4 Tarmogoyf
2 Scavenging Ooze
2 Tireless Tracker
4 Wild Nacatl
-SPELLS (13)
4 Lightning Helix
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Tribal Flames
1 Tamiyo, Field Researcher
-LANDS (23)
4 Wooded Foothills
4 Windswept Heath
2 Stomping Ground
1 Temple Garden
1 Sacred Foundry
1 Plains
1 Forest
4 Arid Mesa
1 Breeding Pool
1 Blood Crypt
1 Hallowed Fountain
1 Mountain
1 Overgrown Tomb
2 Grafdigger's Cage
2 Damping Sphere
2 Kitchen Finks
1 Qasali Pridemage
1 Worship

This is my current SB and I'm wondering if I should add a 2nd krosan grip? If so, what to cut?:
3x Ricochet Trap
2x Ingot Chewer
2x Shriekmaw(1 in the main)
2x Brindle Boar(thinking of splitting this with
1x Faerie Macabre(3 in the main)
1x Fulminator Mage(3 in the main)
1x Thragtusk
1x Kolaghan's Command
1x Anger of the Gods
1x Krosan Grip
In regards to casting a Demonic Dread targeting Phantasmal Image, does the Phantasmal Image get sacrificed before or after the cascade?

Kalonian Tusker?
