Noncreature permanent cards have morph. Its morph cost is equal to its mana cost. (Mana cost includes color.)
Noncreature permanent cards can only be cast face-down.
Creature, instant, sorcery, and nonbasic land cards are banned.
Cost Swap
Swap the mana cost and the activation cost of a nonland permanent card's first activated ability. The card must have at least one activated ability in order to be swapped.
For example: Skeletal Kathari's mana cost is now ":symb:, Sacrifice a creature." and its activated ability is ":4mana::symb:: Regenerate Skeletal Kathari".
Note: If the card has an activated ability with or :symq:, or requires the card to sacrifice/exile itself, you can't cast the card.
Strobe Light (3CB)
Whenever a player casts an instant or sorcery spell, that player exiles that spell with two time counters on it after it resolves. If it doesn’t have suspend, it gains suspend.
Undead Infestation (LR)
Whenever a nontoken creature dies, its controller puts a token that's a copy of that permanent onto the battlefield.
I don't see how that wording of Hive Body is superior at all. It adds weird interactions with text-altering effects that shouldn't really be there. Better to let the round-rule emblem handle the whole process, imo.
Oh, you mean with stuff like Humility? Didn't realize that. Thanks for catching it! And thank you for making the Google document.
I've noticed that one of the flaws with the old version of Big Spender is that you can simply pack a discard spell that is within the minimum allowable CMC limit. If the big spender number is say 6 for example, the player on the play (with 6 lands) can cast Amnesia before the player on the draw can do anything to counter it (with 5 lands during his/her opponent's turn). I guess one solution is to give the player on the draw a free land.
I also see that you added the Gold Token format. Going to add what the gold token actually does.
Changelog
Click here for list. Will eventually incorporate everyone's suggestions onto the list if the exact same version isn't already in the Repository.
Activated Critters: Added Azorius Guildmage to the ban list.
Bestow: Cleaned wording.
Big Spender (LR): Added the following to stop 5th turn discard: 'A player's deck must not enable that player to win the game or force an opponent to lose any cards in his or her hand before an opponent's 5th turn.'
No Holds Barred: Why not just give the instant/sorcery cards Cipher and make them free to cast?
Trying to figure out the best way to organize all these new format ideas. Should I just pile up all the ideas, finished or not, into one post? Do some sort of vote? I don't want to leave anyone hanging.
I think people are also reluctant to share what should be banned for a particular format, because that might be their trump card if the week does come up.
Big Spender (LR)
Each spell that would cost less than five mana to cast costs five mana to cast. Chancellor of the Forge and Gaddock Teeg are banned.
Modified Personman's idea. This way, you can still play cheap costing cards. They just get a little more expensive.
Cascade (LR)
Each player starts with one card in his or her hand and the rest on top of his or her library in any order.
Players skip their draw step.
Nonland cards have cascade.
A work in progress.
Deep Discount
Colored spells cost less to cast. Painter's Servant is banned.
I picked instead of to keep spells at a reasonable level.
Going to place all the ideas so far into one post. Going to edit the second post of this thread to reflect that. I'll try to maintain it as discussions pop up. I'm going to leave out the specific card size unless its absolutely necessary.
I like formats where we have to play big clunky stuff. So, I propose what seems like the most straightforward way to get there: ban cards with CMC < X!
The only problem I see with 'CMC X or greater' weeks are suspend cards like Mindstab, as well as Chancellor of the Forge decks. seems like a good starting point, both to ban Leylines and allow :symw::symu::symb::symr::symg: cards.
Possible solutions include "nonland cards with CMC less than X that don't have CMC 0..."
Another alternative is to assign converted mana costs. This week, only cards with converted mana cost :0mana:, :2mana:, or are allowed.
One tweak that might make sense in LR is having players start with X lands of their choice in play.
This can be dangerous in that both players are ready on the very first turn, no matter who goes first. Might also be interesting. Unsure about this one.
How about a separate thread where people throw in a bunch of ideas for special weeks and we refine them? When refining is finished and when it comes time to play a week, use randomization to determine what special week we are running, what land rule, number of cards, etc. Like for example:
Idea 1: Nonland cards with converted mana cost X or less are banned. Idea 2: Life totals start at X. Idea 3: Roll again, choosing from a list of special formats that have already been done. Idea 4: Normal week. Idea 5: Backbuild. Idea 6: Something.
Moderator rolls a 6 sided die and rolls a 1. Moderator rolls a d6 for the value of X. Moderator rolls a 4. Moderator rolls for # of cards. Moderator rolls a 3.
3CB Land Rule, Nonland cards with converted mana cost X or less are banned.
Also note that creatures only become planeswalkers on the battlefield (It doesn't say 'creature cards'). If they have an activated ability that works outside the battlefield, they'll use its normal cost.
I will provide the prize for ABT#16 month. It'll be a Steam game of your choice, plus any applicable DLCs, that totals 20 dollars or less. You'll have to add me as a Steam friend so I can send it to you as a gift.

I forgot all about Pack Rat when coming up with the format idea.

I wanted to show other Eldrazi some love?
