I would say that is a bad choice, but come to think of it mine choice is an annoying beeping sound that instantly gets me up so I really can't judge haha. I suppose having something like that helps when it is getting you up, instead of something peaceful or relaxing.

I am all about open source, and soon it will all be cloud computing to. I think if everyone's basic needs were met, and everything was open source like much software, our prosperity would go through the roof. The digital age could be so much better than we, or the corporations, allow it.

Imagine if one student in every class went into school and recorded each lecture tomorrow, and uploaded them to youtube for people to watch that night. Especially if there was a way to sign up to test at school cheap, but you could take all the free classes online and just come in for the test so they know you aren't cheating. Education could go through the roof!

On an ethical standpoint I buy what I can but that isn't much, being a single father doesn't allow me much funds at all, paycheck to paycheck with 1600 a month min in bills, so I can afford one or two games a year and even then it is shadily justified, other than that I don't really see how downloading a game I NEVER would have bought would hurt a company. I will be buying starcraft 2, diablo 3, and portal 2 for sure though, I love supporting the good ones when I do have funds to spend. And I have downloaded games I would have never bought, and liked them so much I do end up buying them to support the developers.

I think companies are getting smart about it, and more and more including multiplayer components so piracy goes without online in most games, and this makes sense to me with the current system. It is like a demo, you can play the single player if you want, but to play multiplayer you have to buy the game, or if you want to have any meaningful way to keep track of achievements, etc.

I know right! Science, with nano tech, bio tech, and stuff like this is about to explode more than it already has.

In regards to this, in the article they said that with entangled protons, you could transfer information, but with entagled ions, you could encrypt the info. If you really could get two entangled, say one on earth and one in space, the communication would be pretty much instant! I would have to stretch my brain as to how to get one entangled at such a distance though.

"While photons are good at transmitting information, they are not as good as ions at allowing manipulation, an advancement we'd need for encryption. Researchers were also able to maintain the fidelity of the long-distance teleportation at 89 percent— decent enough for information, but still dangerous for the whole-body human teleportation that we're all looking forward to."

There really isn't any easy solution to this sort of thing. Kids that age see music videos, hear those songs on TV and the radio, and find worse on the Internet by accident. The parents of those girls were probably just being naive and thought that the girls didn't understand anything. But with the culture being how it is, it would not surprise me if one or more of the girls have stumbled upon their fathers' porn stash on their computers or heard stories about their friends' sexual experimentation (if they haven't already begun to do so themselves).

Kids seeing sexually provocative content and wanting to emulate it is just an unfortunate side effect of the world becoming more connected.

This is such a damn good point I definitely support education and a connected world. There really isn't an easy solution, great input though!

There would be heads rolling if anyone in my daughters dance class had her dress like that publicly, or doing sexual innuendo moves like they did. Don't we condition our kids with enough sexuality as a byproduct of our media? I mean the sexual maturity age is constantly getting younger and younger, and I think it is because there is so much accidental conditioning from society.

That is so inappropriate I can't even fathom what made them think this was a good idea, and I don't blame the girls they probably had no idea, in fact they actually pulled the dance of well, but the sexual nature of it is just out of question for any girl anywhere near that age. It disturbs me thinking of all the sick people this will pass by. I am surprised the parents didn't seem to care wtf?

"The average age at which the onset of puberty occurs has dropped significantly since the 1840s.Researchers refer to this drop as the 'secular trend'. In every decade from 1840 to 1950 there was a drop of four months in the average age of menarche among Western European females. In Norway, girls born in 1840 had their menarche at an average age of 17 years. In France the average in 1840 was 15.3 years. In England the average in 1840 was 16.5 years. In Japan the decline happened later and was then more rapid: from 1945 to 1975 in Japan there was a drop of 11 months per decade."

"When one of the items is sent a distance away, entanglement ensures that changing the state of one causes the other to change as well, allowing the teleportation of quantum information, if not matter."

"With the aid of entanglement, otherwise impossible tasks may be achieved. Among the best known applications of entanglement are superdense coding, quantum state teleportation, information exchanges through time, and the creation of a quantum computer."

I was actually reading some posters replies from Pakistan, who using proxies to get past the fire walls there now that FB and youtube are blocked.

Some of them think it is ridiculous that this is causing such an uprage, so maybe it is good in that people will be over sensitized and not freak out of every drawing of their prophet. The ability to be able to laugh or make fun of oneself shows a strong character. If people freak out at every drawing of a prophet, they will find many useless upsets in their life that will only slow them down.

    Thank god for free speech.

Lawful Evil the "smart" evil Smile Lets take all the effective things from lawful good and remove the anooying moral parts!

    hahaha that is funny man.

I tested Lawful Good, which I suppose fits. I love healers, clerics and paladins. Was thinking I would be chaotic good because sometimes you have to get your hands dirty to set things straight in the world, but tbh but I really liked this test and loved that lawful good emphasized honor and compassion.

    Lawful Good
A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. She combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. She tells the truth, keeps her word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion.

Probably the Dragon Lance Chronicles, my first fantasy book and it unlocked my imagination, and I am still very into sci/fi and fantasy. I just loved the whole group to, and always really liked Tanis, and the twins along with all the other fun characters.

For a spiritual pick, A course in miracles definitely. I don't follow every word by any means, but it has some of my favorite quotes, one of which is below. Also I was only able to do the first 50 out of 365 so lessons, but it taught me to meditate and gave me a clarity intuitively I have never experienced. It has a lot of christian terminology, but it is very different, almost more like Buddhism than anything.

apparently this is called "Inedia" and this link goes into a couple other examples of people claiming this "ability".

Personally I believe anything is possible and with how little understanding we have on the mind.

I think it is a function of Windows 7 from my understanding, but I love it personally. You still have your other buttons, the FN key is extra, and a great way to turn off your stuff like wifi if you don't want programs accessing the internet. I wish there was one for the webcam.

I agree with most of you, if this guru is the real deal it must be an intense spiritual discipline that allows him to do this, something one devoted to the mysteries of the self/mind/universe could unlock. I have a hard time seeing a foot soldier achieve this mastery or share the same interests over his body. Who knows though, after his 15 days are done I am going to look this guy up again!

it makes me sick thinking of all the organic life that will perish and suffer from this. I agree this is to much of a coincidence after obama announcing offshore drilling, either some environmental nuts, or simply fate saying we need look at new options for energy, as we should have a long, long, long time ago.

I think Solar Power and Geo Thermal power are our two best options, and could fuel all our electricity needs if we did a complete overhaul system wide, especially with some recent breakthroughs in things such as nano technology and coating technologies that will increase solar output by over 50% and more will come. If we could manufacture them cheap, and put them on every roof and office building, energy production would go through the roof.

one company doing solar for cheap, many advances will make this much more viable.
    http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/09/nanosolar/

The problem with this, the current powerful corporations would fight it to the death, and these are who are fighting these changes(oil/coal/nuclear/auto industry/etc). They want nothing more than to keep us on the old system that was making them grips of money and kept them in control, their worst nightmare is to have every individual house/car powering itself with nothing to tax / charge for.

Of course the first instinct is hoax, but I have heard of this ability before. He is under 24 hour supervision, and indias military obviously has an interest in him for some reason. I think the fact that he has gone 6 days without water out of 15 is pretty interesting. I have heard of monks slowing down their metabolism and heart beat. Your thoughts?

I personally have had very connected experiences, to the point where I can tell when someone is about to call me and such all through the day. It seems to come and go, and meditation helps with clarity. I not only believe though, i definitely think there is something to it.

I think as we learn more about quantum mechanics, we will learn much more about that which connects us all and how to interact with. The quantum rule that if we can observe any experiment at any distance we will affect its outcome, is interesting in this sense.
