2 Thoughtseize
4 Inquisition of Kozilek
4 Raven's Crime
4 Wrench Mind
4 Smallpox
4 Blightning
Instant: 8
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Terminate
2 Extirpate
2 Thought Hemorrhage
1 Slaughter Games
2 Grafdigger's Cage

3 Pack Rat
1 Necrogen Mists
It seems to take a bit more of a controllish approach than some of the decks represented here. Does anybody have experience with this variant? Any suggestions for improvement (assuming Lillies are currently unreachable but most things below that are accessible)? Honestly kind of iffy on the Mutavaults right now - they just don't feel that great, usually wish they were coloured sources.
I'm looking to get started in Legacy and this deck appeals to me. I'd like to proxy it up and do some playtesting with it to see if I like playing with it as much as I think I would. What would you recommend as a good stock list for me to start with? I can't tell whether or not the list in the primer is out of date (as one of the lists shown is from 2013).
Thanks!
None of my matchups felt unwinnable, which I liked, it was just frustrating to me to not be able to concentrate on the board state enough to play correctly. I'm looking forward to playing with the deck again and winning more matches next time. I'm definitely going to move Spellskite into the main deck though. Probably 2 when I get my second on Saturday.
I'm heading down to Modern night tonight to test out RG Tron for the first time. I feel like my build is still pretty shaky with some questionable choices, but I'm working with what I've got initially. Here's my list:
1x Eye of Ugin
2x Forest
2x Ghost Quarter
3x Karplusan Forest
4x Urza's Mine
4x Urza's Power Plant
4x Urza's Tower
Creature: 7
1x Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
1x Kozilek, the Great Distortion
2x Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
3x Wurmcoil Engine
1x Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
4x Karn Liberated
Sorcery: 11
3x Pyroclasm
4x Ancient Stirrings
4x Sylvan Scrying
Artifact: 17
1x Relic of Progenitus
4x Chromatic Sphere
4x Chromatic Star
4x Oblivion Stone
4x Expedition Map
2x Pithing Needle
3x Relic of Progenitus
4x Nature's Claim
1x Spellskite
1x Platinum Angel
2x All Is Dust
2x Chalice of the Void
I've got a second Spellskite coming on Saturday, but beyond that, I don't know what else to do. I feel like the iffiest part of my build is the sideboard - I don't particularly like the Platinum Angel and the All Is Dust feels a little unnecessary, but I'm not certain what to replace them with. Life from the Loam and Crumble to Dust maybe? What else should I cut or play with the numbers on?
4x Urza's Tower
4x Urza's Mine
4x Urza's Power Plant
4x Copperline Gorge
2x Forest
1x Eye of Ugin
1x Ghost Quarter
Planeswalker: 5
1x Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
4x Karn Liberated
Sorcery: 12
4x Sylvan Scrying
4x Ancient Stirrings
4x Pyroclasm
2x Relic of Progenitus
4x Chromatic Sphere
4x Chromatic Star
4x Expedition Map
4x Oblivion Stone
Creature: 5
2x Wurmcoil Engine
1x Kozilek, the Great Distortion
1x Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
1x Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
4x Nature's Claim
2x Relic of Progenitus
2x Pithing Needle
1x Platinum Angel
1x All is Dust
2x Spellskite
2x Surgical Extraction
1x Thragtusk
I don't have the cash to straight up buy them so I'm trying to trade up to a playset of Grove of the Burnwillows but in the interim I'm torn between Copperline Gorge and Stomping Ground. Does anybody have experience with this compromise, and can you guys make a recommendation as to one or the other, or maybe a combination of both?
Any recommendations for how I can improve the list in general? It has yet to be tournament-tested.
It doesn't shut off Sylvan Scrying on 1, but it does on 2 (as well as hitting Pyroclasm on 2). Maybe you meant it hits Ancient Stirrings on 1?
Most of us have found that it is. I've been considering experimenting with adding a seventh dragon (4 Ojutai/2 DL Silumgar/1 Silumgar tDD perhaps) but I really don't know where I'd fit it.
I decided to give the 4 MB Duress a try last night. Went 2-1-1 at FNM with the following list:
2x Haven of the Spirit Dragon
3x Sunken Hollow
3x Prairie Stream
4x Flooded Strand
4x Polluted Delta
4x Shambling Vent
1x Dismal Blackwater
1x Plains
2x Swamp
3x Island
Creature: 6
3x Dragonlord Ojutai
2x Dragonlord Silumgar
1x Silumgar, the Drifting Death
1x Narset Transcendent
2x Ob Nixilis Reignited
Sorcery: 6
2x Crux of Fate
4x Duress
Instant: 18
1x Ultimate Price
1x Ojutai's Command
1x Scatter to the Winds
1x Dragonlord's Prerogative
2x Utter End
2x Anticipate
3x Dig Through Time
3x Foul-Tongue Invocation
4x Silumgar's Scorn
1x Negate
1x Mastery of the Unseen
1x Monastery Mentor
1x Foul-Tongue Invocation
1x Complete Disregard
1x Tasigur, the Golden Fang
1x Dragonlord's Prerogative
2x Dispel
2x Arashin Cleric
2x Disdainful Stroke
2x Languish
I beat Abzan (2-1) and Esper Control (2-0), tied Esper Tokens (1-1) and lost to Abzan (1-2). Having one Dragonlord's Prerogative in the MB and a second in the side actually felt really good. I replaced one of my Digs with the MB one and never regretted it or wished it was DTT. I really liked the MB Duress but I'm skeptical of a full four - three main, one side might feel better.
Sweet play of the night: In the Abzan match I lost, I won a game after untapping with my opponent at 15, getting off Ob Nixilis' emblem, casting DLP to draw 4 and have him lose 8 life, swinging with Ojutai for another 5 and passing the turn to allow his draw to kill him.
EDIT: For reference, I'm a regular there for Standard and Modern as well as occasionally playing Limited.
