Oct 19, 2012Sanity's_Eclipse posted a message on Angel CollectionThanks. It helps not a lot of them are worth more than $10, if they're even worth something like that anyway.Posted in: Sanity's_Eclipse Blog
There's just something about the Mirrodin 1.0 frame or something I just plain don't like. /shrug. I'm rather aesthetic in things. -
Sep 27, 2012Sanity's_Eclipse posted a message on New plans for my EDH decksI had a similar problem with a band buddy in high school. I had a comparatively crappy Jund deck at the time, but for me at that time it was my best deck. Towards the end of the year, he mentioned that he had been thinking about building his own version of the deck, and I stupidly encouraged him.Posted in: Scott Blog
His version ended up trouncing my version, and I dismantled it. Also, he got a Dragon deck for free from his dad, so I was just right narked off, lol.
I built a mono-black vampire deck that could actually go toe to toe with his decks, but then we moved away from playing Magic (it was our Freshman year of college at this point, during ZEN). He also went on a Mission for the Mormon Church, so he hasn't been around.
It didn't get to actual Fallout like your situation, but I felt kinda close to it. I think it's good he went on that Mission; it's given me time to cool off, find out what I love about Magic, and to build some kick ass decks. He doesn't want to play EDH? Sucks for him, this format is awesome :D.
Also, if/when he comes back and is similarly inspired by a deck, I will flat-out tell him that if he does want to build a similar deck, I will never want to play against it, see it, talk about it, or anything like that. Find your own damn inspiration for decks. (aimed at my friend, not at you :)) -

Mar 11, 2012Sanity's_Eclipse posted a message on Mana DoublersIMO, green needs Roflmana. He's more or less a flippin' mana doubler, ----. You need to be playing a lot of forests for maximum effectiveness, but he still doubles your green mana at the least.Posted in: Ted Blog

Nov 6, 2011Sanity's_Eclipse posted a message on Food for Thought: Is 60 Cards Always Optimal?I don't really use math, but I'll go with 61 cards a lot of the time if I'm building a non-EDH deck. I figure(d) that the extra card really didn't mess with the chance of drawing X, ya know?Posted in: Tom's Blog... Enjoy!

That strikes me as just being cute, though. /shrug
Cool I've always loved Promise (even though I don't own any yet), and wanted to find a good deck for it at some point. -

Jun 20, 2011Sanity's_Eclipse posted a message on EDH Kaalia of the VastPosted in: Sanity's_Eclipse BlogQuote from WardenKaalia is that kinda-hot kinda-mysterious chick who balls hard on the weekend. I'm not talking 6 pack of mike's hard by herself....I'm talking drunk at 3pm. Do you like Angels, Demons or Dragons? That's right, you don't even have to choose because she'll bring them ALL to the party.
From her spoiler thread -
Apr 13, 2011Sanity's_Eclipse posted a message on EDH Karrthus, Tyrant of JundJugan may be lackluster, but he completes the Kamigawa cycle in the deck.Posted in: Sanity's_Eclipse Blog
He can boost Kilnmouth Dragon / V. Zombie, etc for damage, or just boost something else. /shrug. -
Mar 31, 2011Sanity's_Eclipse posted a message on Grixis Planeswalker KontrolLooks pretty fun, though I don't know which would murder my bank account more; the planeswalkers, damnation, or the mana basePosted in: LilianaVess33 Blog
I'll have to give this kinda deck a shot sometime. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Bearer of Silence 1B
Creature - Eldrazi (R)
Devoid
When you cast Bearer of Silence, you may pay 1C. If you do, target opponent sacrifices a creature.
Flying
Bearer of Silence can't block.
2/1
Eldrazi Gatekeeper of Malakir, more or less.
/Awkward Nodding.
Thought-Knot Seer 3<>
Creature - Eldrazi (R)
When ~ ETB, target opponent reveals their hand. You choose a non-land card from it and exile that card.
When ~ LTB, target opponent draws a card.
4/4
He needs a helpdesk already too, so we can go spam that as well.
Reality Smasher 4<>
Creature - Eldrazi (R)
Trample, haste
Whenever ~ becomes the target of a spell an opponent controls, counter that spell unless its controller discards a card.
5/5
Strip your opponent's hands and freely beat face. Doesn't help against abilities, admittedly, especially from the likes of Drana 1.0. Perhaps better in 1v1, but most 1v1 decks run maybe run a couple of 5 mana cards at most?
Chandra, Flamecaller was officially revealed, still want a couple copies to try out. Oath of Chandra I want to try and make it work, but how many planeswalkers would it take to make the ongoing Shocks to opponents worth it?
Thoughts on Hedron Alignment? The win-the-game ability is either really hard or actually impossible to pull off, but a 3 mana, easily splashable, hexproof, repeatable scrying enchantment could do some work.
Bonds of Mortality will be good. If nothing else, it cantrips, and at best, it helps you deal with Theros Gods and Voltron commanders or things like Asceticism. Fall of the Titans, even disregarding that it's a burn spell "which doesn't work here" or whatever, seems alright. Definitely want to Surge it, but being able to dome two things at once is always welcome on those X burn spells.
Drana's Chosen is just bad. Bloodline Keeper all day everyday instead.
Cliffhaven Vampire, Stormchaser Mage, and Weapons Trainer will definitely see some play. The other two might, but I would imagine more as placeholders for those kinds of effects.
Inverter of Truth. I dunno, it could be a fun deck to play where you screw with your own library like that, but I'm not sure how many useful effects like this have been printed, and how many of them I like.
Bluh. I think that's everything.
MaRo' second to last paragraph here before revealing Oath of Gideon says something to this kind of an effect though. Fair enough that being Legendary doesn't inherently justify a higher power level, but on the flip side since you can only control one at a time, they tend to be more powerful anyway to get people to play them.
Retaining the same mana cost as well for Oath of Liliana? Works for me.
Oath of Sorin - Liliana and to a lesser extent Sorin are both necromancers or can at least use necromancy, so this card constantly gets your creatures back to protect you and your planeswalkers. I was thinking of things like Phyrexian Reclamation, but I must have worded the Oath wrong for it to cost so little. Admittedly it doesn't explicitly mention planeswalkers so I suppose it's a bad design overall.
Oath of Chandra was actually spoiled today, but if you're avoiding spoilers, I will just say that OoC is entirely burn-based.
Pyromancer's Assault 3R
Enchantment (U)
Whenever you cast your second spell each turn, ~ deals 2 damage to target creature or player.
Auto-add for Jori-En? Cast that second spell for a card and a Shock sounds decent.
Never been into multiplayer video games much, except for Smash Bros. I liked Melee the best, only put up with Brawl, and have since moved away from console playing almost completely. The dungeon crawler-ness of things like PSO and Borderlands kinda turn me off because I'm like Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation in that I want my games to have a story.
I recently picked up Skyrim again too. Restarted my main character and made an extra save pretty early on for her so that I can come back in a few years and replay her if I want to. I've really put some time into this psychotic High Elf character of mine too.
In that one Rumor Mill/New Card Discussion thread about "why is BFZ so unappealing", someone linked to an offsite story critique which was a good read. Basically, the Eldrazi are supposed to be somewhat Lovecraftian but simply aren't (or aren't anymore). The critic also touched upon why he doesn't like Jace, at all, and I realized that his reasons were more or less my own. I just didn't know how to put it into words and didn't want to even try either lol.
I posted a few ideas for Oaths of characters we're not gonna see in this block over in CCC. Sorin seems like a much more likely candidate than Liliana for the GateAvengeWatchers thing, now that I've thought about it.
I like mint chocolate chip ice cream.
