You know, it's funny how the exact same three people have posted the exact same posts in the exact same order both here, on CQ, and the mothership.

If you're going to shill then be a little less obvious about it.

Hey people responding to topics in two places he SAID there were topics. They must be fakes to make his point. :U

I'll support David, as I've dealt with Easybot in trades and I've never had an issue with stolen information. I've never ran it, but I can hardly say one out of hundreds of people who has a problem is a bit dubious. This is clearly a case of libel.

Player Pauper to start. A good deck can be made under 10 tix. The biggest costs for your pauper deck will be a playset of good commons (I'm looking at you Counterspell). I say pick something playable, over something you like because it will win. In 2-man queues (with an entree fee of 2 tix) the prize is an M10 pack (don't know if they'll do ZEN, just started recently myself) which you can sell to a bot for around 3 tix. After a few hours of this, if you haven't lost much, you'll have profited and will eventually be able to buy a competetive T2 deck or draft.

This deck would love to have Mystical Teachings in it. I really find myself needing to search for a solution.

    Quote from LilianaVess33

You know that may be true.

But the thing about Kamigawa was, at least it was fun to play.

Samurai, Ninja, Kami. All backed one of the best story lines of the time.

So yeah, W00T in Zendikar we get to go on Quests, Yippe.

    I thought we played MTG?

So why is WoTC shoving D&D and Lord of the Rings down are throats?

Because you're opinion isn't the only one. I personally like the flavor, being a casual DnD player. Trusty Machete made me giddy.

Zendikar is no redonkulously broken artifact block, but it isn't trash (I'm looking at you Kamigawa and Homelands). Zendikar has some fun mechanics like Landfall and traps (inb4 "WIZARDS MADE MAH MAIC YUGIOH!"), and decently powerful creatures. So what if it doesn't have 100% compatibility with Alara? Maybe it has a lot of synergy with the 3rd set in the block (knowing its large)or the next set.

In short, Zendikar is an average set (not read "mediocre"). WotC did not fail, they just didn't make everything rediculous and broken. Apparently that makes a set "good".

Got some qualitive results which you may see below.

    Match 1 [1-0] WIN - Green Something
G1: My opponent never drew a creature. Win for me.
G2: Some annoying creatures came my way like Protean Hydra and Acidic Slime. A misplay caused him to get two of his three creatures on the battlefield pathed. I win.

Match 2 [X-1] INCONCLUSIVE- UB Annoyance
G1: Most of my creatures got bounced, countered, or killed. Found myself needing to draw a creature each turn. Got killed by flying, in the end.
G2: Lost Path T4, Garruk T7. Got much better creatures this time and outplayed my opponent's counter. Opponent quit. Inconclusive.

MD Tweaks: -4 Boggart Ram-Gang (don't own any). +2 Raging Goblin, +2 Cliffrunner Behemoth.
    SB Tweaks: none

    Match 3 [2-1] - WIN Swans
G1: Got Cerodon Yearling out and Woolly Thoctar. Thoctar got hit with a Flame Javelin. Blood got countered by Broken Ambitions and I lost the clash. Then Swans came out. He didn't get any damage to it, and I tapped it down with Naya Charm for the win.
G2: Got land screw early on. Luckily I had Bolts. Ceredon Yearling came out after a Cryptic Command. Lost it and Bloodbraid Elf to a Fallout. Lost a bunch of
my creatures to Firespout. Lost to two bolts
G3: Got out creatures pretty easily and hung in a while. I swung with Woolly Thoctar for some draw. I pathed his Swans that turn, tapped him out by making him play Double Negative to stop a cascade from Blood and bolted him for the win.

    Match 4 [2-0] - WIN Grixis
G1: This deck basically $30. I smacked it aound pretty easy. Just some annoying unearth. He played slow as heck, so I took notes easily.
G2: Same as the first verse. He scooped, though.

NOTE: Played a game versus UG Mycoloth Time Warp between match 4 and 5. Lost connection so data was inconclusive.

MB Tweaks: -2 Raging Goblin (didn't do much T1, played Lightning Bolt more), +2 Ball Lightning (Good hastey face beater)
SB Tweaks: -2 Magma Spray (siding out 2 Bolts for this), +2 Act of Treason (might want to rip a Baneslayer or something for a turn to gain some ground)

    Match 5 [1-2] LOSS - Esper Aggro-Control
G1: Ethersworn Canonist Comes out early and I lose a Woolly Thoctar to a Path. I draw antother path onto Jund Hackblade so I can drop a Ball Lightning. I quickly get overrun and have to stall with a Naya Charm. He drops Tez and untaps. I lose.
G2: Sided in Pridemages and AoT. I manage to avoid an early Cannonist, and when it comes I Path it. He's left wide open and I swing for the win.
G3: Same was muck like the second game. However, an Enigma Sphinx and Tez's ultimate made me lose with him at 1 (I was I 4). First match loss.

    Primary test complete.
    FINAL RESULTS:
    3 wins, 1 inconclusive, 1 loss

All in all, a pretty fun deck. I'll probably be playing this (without Elspeth) at my local counstructed ASAP.

  • posted a message on About "natural death"...
It's actually possible to live forever and be young under the circumstances of the OP if there's one more circumstance: Cell division does not cause loss of genetic information. Every time your cells divide the DNA is divided, copied, bound into chromosomes and pulled into a new cell. Every time the DNA is copied, there is some loss of information (think of it like a loss in quality uploading to YouTube).

This is what causes visible aging and natural death. If this did not happen, we'd never get wrinkles.

EDIT: Noted that this was mentioned, but added a little more info on what happens because of it.

If you're going to run devour, at least put in a Rockslide Elemental or Algae Gharial so you might get some advantage if your devouring guys get hosed.

  • posted a message on Can you cascade a card with no mana cost?
    Quote from TheBaron
Are you guys sure I seem to remember if a spell has no casting cost (not the same as 0 casting cost) that it cant be played at all

If cascade says play it without paying its mana cost and it cant be played isn't this a classic case of the can't beating the can?

can we get a high level judge ruling on this because it has tickled my curiosity

To quote Evermind, "Nonexistent mana costs can't be paid".Therefore, it can't be cast. However, it can be played via cascade because it technically has a converted mana cost of 0.

Yeah, the art is un-original and boring. Reminds me alot of Torrent of Stone another boring and un-imaginative card. ******.

    Thanks Vorthos. :U

I think that Day of Judgement will be in most white T2 decks, and blue that splash white because its still a good sweep. Green and black now have an edge, but I have a feeling these will be dropped when the opponent is tapped out. Outside of Standard, I still expect this to be played.

    Quote from iRebel
Then the solution is to stay out of the competitive forum. If you're not willing to play optimal decks, why are you (and others) posting in the COMPETITIVE forum?

Because maybe you want to try a variation of the deck without posting the DFC forum. I find that posting in the competitive forums can get some better results than DFC because you've got people who know how the deck ticks and can give a better response faster.

Dark Temper is a good choice if you can splash for red while playing black.

This is more fun than a band name generator. I picked a random set and card. I got Timespiral and Search for Tomorrow. Fun!
