Maybe try something like this, though I have never played a game of modern in my life. I just took the ideas from the thread an went with what I thought would work within your budget. With all of this in mind cards that could be included from what others had success with
Goblin Charbelcher sounds great on paper with tezz but for budget reason didn't include them
Simian Spirit Guide this guy helps you excel an speeds you up by at least a turn. I would prolly cut Nihilith as well as Demonic Dread. Last but not least I haven't tested this or anything just something with your budget in mind bluTopper.
Hopefully someone with better experience can help you further. The grand total comes in at $29.30 not bad considering how fun this deck looks to play =)

    Utility:3

    3 Beast Within

    Combo:14
    4 Ardent Plea
    4 Violent Outburst
    2 Demonic Dread

    4 Greater Gargadon
    2 Nightveil Specter
    3 Riftwing Cloudskate
    2 Nihilith

If it was me I would run 2 phyrexian metamorphs though i know its not budget an it costs as much as the entire deck. If vapor snag is big where you play I would shy away from Bloodcrazed Neonate. Also most of the time I'm on defense with walls and the like an the bloodcrazed screams I wanna get in their an take your lunch money instead of sit, chill an setup.

    Suggestions would be

    hero of oxid ridge
comes out guns blazing has haste makes everything bigger as well myrs/vandels/C. Phoenix? (idk if u run him but I saw you mentioned him so yah seems legit.Tho hes a 4/2 so hes squishy beyond belief.

    Chandra the Firebrand
she could work we can protect her with our walls/myrs/birdies she makes our blasts or board wipes do work. If we can get her ulti off its gg. I like her more then koth b/c he requires you to play a boat load of mountains an some games we just don't have that many. Also she combos with
    C. Phoenix as well as puts the control player on a clock of kill me in 3 turns or your dead.

    Phyrexian Metamorph
Pretty much copy your opponents best threat or copy anything on your board usually a K.Phoenix seems pretty good. If he happens to hit the bin you can bring him back for more hotness with buried ruin.

I hope these suggestions help give you some ideas. Just take it slow an think things through an you should do fine. I know these suggestions aren't very budget friendly but they just popped out at me an said hello im here im awesome especially Chandra the Firebrand I mean she just wants some lovein. Also if you post your list so I can see what your already running as well as what your sideboard looks like me an the rest could help you better.

    Pillar of Flame
Is very good against zombies/undieing which this deck can have issues with b/c once we sweep they just come back an makes our removal look not so sexy.I say sb these right when the set releases depending on your meta of course.

    Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded

Seems decent if we run both birdies as well as a card that has to get removed. Though with walls/myr protection it sounds good in theory. An I'm thinking of this guy as like a turn 3 to 4 play rather then turn 2 b/c we need to protect him which this deck can do quite handily.

    Wolfir Avenger
Yes hes green but I love that he can be a gotcha as well as having regeneration which is pure sexyness in my book though it would mean changing the deck to look completely different then it does now. Like going 50/50 instead of a splash.

    Wolfir Silverheart
Since I'm on the 50/50 splash this guys a house pair it up with k-bird or anything really an you just got 12 power on the board with one card for 5 mana.

Though only time will tell how everything will shape up once people start testing an stuff. Though truth be told I be playing this prolly until it rotates. As for the green splash if you have the moolah give it a go though I feel it'll be totally different deck then it is now maybe something to look out for once scar block rotates idk.

If I was to go again this would be mine

2 Ghost Quarter These take out trouble some lands an can help you against inkmoths if your meta is as crazy as mine is you'll want these either a mix between the main or the side.

4 Whipflare I felt like I needed more sweepers these are my slags 5-8 they help against delver which is huge in my meta I also despise tokens an the like. Reason why I run these is b/c as I found out the hard way targeted removal while good is really bad against stalkers/geist.

4 Nihil Spellomb" target="blank">Nihil Spellomb You run enough sweepers with the whips/slags so things will die. This helps reanimation nonsense from zombies as well as rune pike stuff if you don't want to waste a artifact kill on it. Also keeps snaps in check.

3 Ratchet Bomb Mainly for tokens, but can hit delvers mana dorks among other things just all round good card. Just watch out putting it on 2 cause it can hurt you pretty hard.

2 traitorous blood stealing titans infect creatures or anything else huge an monstrous is really awesome or Magical Christmas
Land of coating your guy you stole an sacing it to gain a life seems pretty awesome as well.

Also big thx to both shinbatu as well as pancake_puffs for the sideboard suggestions.

    @pancakepuffs

That's exactly what I was looking! An I loved the rundown of the deck as well. I'm going to test the slags since I already own them an see how they preform. Though I can bet once I head to the lgs you'll see me buying Whips :D. As for the Mimic Vats I'll give them a test as well though cause in my Happy Magic Christmas land vating a titan would make me one happy lil man.

    Here's the Changes

    Takingout
    -2 Evolving wilds
    -2 Inferno Titan
    -1 slagstorm

    Adding
    +1 Wall of Tanglecord
    +1 Perilous Myr
    +1 Ichor Wellspring
    +2 Manic Vandal

Last but not least is how does the sideboard look like is it a combination of whips/ratchet bombs or was the sideboard I suggested in the post above pancakepuffs decent enough for an unknown meta.

Decided that I'll play this at my fnm next week having not played standred in a long time. Last time i played was back when fungus fires was around god i love me some godo. Anyways back on point I was wondering if any who's been around the block with this deck could offer a few suggestions. Also note I've never played standard at this store before so this format also being new to me as well as a unknown meta awaits me Last but not least I haven't played tested any of this so its all just theory .Well here's a base of what my sideboard could look like

3 koth of the hammer ( I know these aren't budget but had them lying around idk how good these would be. I'm looking into more threats against control if it goes late this guy might get their idk Wink )

3 Ratchet Bomb (offs pesky things just around decent card plus it kills tokens)

1 Slagstorm ( kills tokens swarms hurts aggro seems good idk if I should main deck this or keep it in the side I'm thinking main deck though )

4 Nihil Spellbomb ( this seems good against decks who abuse graveyards)

    3? slots im completely stumped

Here's my list its completely untested since I just picked up some of the cards I didn't have an just threw in cards I had sitting around.

Took the main list as base an went from their I really feel this list screams for sphere of the suns b/c it could excel us into our high stuff faster as well as fix our mana since I'm not running duel lands. but I excluded it b/c I felt that my 2 drops would be flooded. On inferno titan this was included as just another giant dude to hopefully fight against control it it just seemed like I wanted another legit threat to go along with the the mack daddy HDS. If anyone has any suggestions or anything let me know. I'll also try an test it out see how it does once i get all the cards.

you could borrow a little from rifter an play a package of 3 abeyance 4 orims chants like main any combination an throw the rest in the side.Though I would play 4/3 orims then x amount of abeyance in side should help you vs combo as well as give a fog effect with orims against aggro so its not a dead card against them

so u could -3 or 4 blasts play abeyance in the side though against anything that plays counter spells idk how good that would be

    Quote from Zazorf
I am opting to have both Hibernation and Hurkyl's Recall, though how much it helps the Maverick matchup. I keep going back and forth between Rebuild & Hurkyl's Recall though. Post-Time Spiral, I have been able to cast Rebuild more than once in a game, then cycle it away on my combo turn when I needed to continue cantripping. But now I have one friend that feels strongly about the 2-mana Hurkyl's Recall over the 3-mana Rebuild.. anyone else?

This is my latest 'board in mind aiming for the unknown meta at a SCG tourney in April:
    2 Defense Grid
    2 Surgical Extraction
    1 Ravenous Trap
    1 Hurkyl's Recall (or Rebuild)
    1 Hibernation
    1 Echoing Truth
    1 Wipe Away
    1 Intuition
    1 Meditate (of Flusterstorm)
1 Pact of Negation (or Flusterstorm)

    ok in a nut shell

    surgical extraction
i would prolly just run one as a wish target
an add either another pact or flusterstorm or defense grid depends

    ravenous trap
same as surgical it cant be fetched by a scroll an is most logically a wish target

    Hurkyl's Recall
i like rebuild here also if they try to break your grid or something u can cast rebuild an still mess them up not to sure though i'm stretching this one either seems fine though saving a defense grid seems hot sauce from anything not named krosan grip

    Echoing Truth
board these in against hate bears u can search them up with merchant scroll really no reason not to run these

    Meditate
keep this in the side you'll be wishing for this almost every game if u don't draw one yes even casting it on the end of opponents turn if they cant kill you you end up winning

    - intuition
for +1 flusterstorm or another pact its just so good.with all the extractions it seems meh if the meta changes then i would put this back in but with extractions floating around it seems pretty scary to get our chocolate and peanut butter aka timespiral or our glue that hold our blue mess together aka high tide removed from the game seems pretty bad an make us sad sad pandas

    -hibernation
seems pretty weak i would use the truth b/c u cant target that goose but u can hit glofs which is pretty much what u you want b/c they hit for more an the goose shouldnt be 3/3 until u already have won or already got run over also if they have more glofs truth gains value idk i just feel id rather cast truth + cunning an eot then just cunning for hibernation thats if it goes that long

1 Brain Freeze you keep these in the side b/c well they dodge extraction an other junk so you can win
1 Blue Sun's Zenith[/cards] same as brain freeze

I am still hesitant on which cards to sub in/out & which cards to leave in the side as Cunning Wish targets.. I have a month to figure it out, lol!:cool2:

    hope this helps
also im from michigan as well so i couldn't giving you my 2 cents

that seems solid grove of the burnwillows with punishing fire though i have not tried it.

it opens you up to wasteland but you do have Crucible of Worlds

against combo you could run ghostfire or even a Pyrite Spellbomb spellbomb is prolly better but i feel like we could tutor for something much stronger then that.

the more an more i think about this deck the more i wanna play it though for me my meta is unknown. I've also been out of the game for a while an haven't played which also hurts.

-4 Phyrexia's Core seems to me only reason y this is played is bc of slag to help dump artifacts in the yard. Personally i just feel horror if some1 judgements u or slagstorms u then this just ends up being dead. Also a few extra life that this would provide seems irrelevant bc your beat down your either dead by turn or won by turn 6

-2 Gut Shot Galvanic Blast just seems like a better choice in this slot an depending on how many times you can get metalcraft maybe better then bolt

-4 Darksteel Relic i hate playing cards that dont affect the board or help u win yes it helps turn 1 rebirth but other then that it does nothing but become a sac outlet.

    -4 Ornithopter same as above

+4 mountains red mages need these

    +2 Galvanic Blast" target="blank">Galvanic Blast
depending on how many times u have 3 artifacts could be combination of these with bolts

+4 Goblin Bushwhacker" target="blank">Goblin Bushwhacker makes most of your creatures better 1 sided pump and haste seems pretty good to me

+2 devastating summons this card u pretty much wanna go all in with cast it sac most if not all your land an get their provided with the bushwackers help no less. Though using this card will prolly b your final fortune attempt to kill them just hold back a bushwacker an pray they dont counter or just wait till they tapout unless its a titan then Uhh

+2 goblin wardriver battle cry seems good with single pests, memnights, bushwachers, and slag fiends fits curve and also battle cry stacks so thats always good. now that i think bout it you could drop these an use Ornithopter

slag is a decent card maybe hold it back to answer with clasmjudgement and the like an buch wack it to give it haste to get the last points through

dont take these harshly havent tested your deck these are just random suggestions Tongue that came to me off the top of my head:)
