Not going to lie...If you are really looking to creatively build after the release of the last set in any block, and you dont already have the cards....Unless you totally rock your jams on modern you are going to be disappointed with the staying power of your deck/money you invested. The only time that ever panned out for me was investing in lorwyn block during alara...Vendilion Clique $6(now $50+) Cryptic command $19(now $34) Thoughtseize $18(now $58+) Glen Elendra Archmage $16(was $4).
So what I'd say is that you are unlikely to find staples like that short of boros reckoner or snapcaster that are going to stick. Wait for things to rotate and invest in the newer stuff and current set only. Otherwise you are dropping crazy cash only to have cards sit in a box where you can imagine building decks for you and your friends to play with who then never will because they will have their own deck they want to play.
side note: Glen Elendra is actually my favorite card from that whole batch. She was baneslayer angel 's guardian. 6 mana=win.
This card will never see standard. It is too slow, to vulnerable, and the pay off is simply not good enough. Compare it to other likely 3 drops or even two drops. The only card that could make this card viable is PyreHeart wolf, which also takes up the 3 slot........every kill spell kills it, pretty much every creature that blocks it kills it as well....I like cool cards...At 2/2 it MIGHT have a chance...but probably not.
They don't have to compete with goblins! that's like saying Spirits have to compete with humans in white....FALSE.
I say dwarfs can add a dimension to red that is usually lacking. For instance they are strong, hardy and notoriously resistant to magic. Add in their master weapon smithing and craftsmanship and you have a sweet dynamic red never usually has.
I definitely support the ponder notion, and I also say, yes...Something other than Aven fleetwing. Solemn clearly has a place...and viridian would help the deck flow better and play out smoother. I Think you be better off with Consecrated sphinx than fleetwing...but, I MOSTLY agree with ponder...Ponder ponder ponder. It's how you're going to find your swords. "Would you rather be lucky to find the Swords, or unlucky to not find them." Ponder pushes it towards the latter. This is my vote.
You know, in theory he may be even 150/150. I believe no one creature type, except for hydras ans elememtals should have X in mana-cost because it's against flavour. How one mortal human can be as powerful as ten (10!) Emrakul, the Aeons Torns? Something wrong from the flavour point of view.
Well if it came into play with creature tokens....like a Captain of the watch as a 2/2 that costs XWW and x 1/1 soldiers come into play as it ETB...That would make sense.
I certainly like the idea...this deck seems like it would have a lot of trouble against RDW...its a slow deck...I would think you need to be ready for that kind of deck....also Valakut would likely have a field day...you would want to put cards in that can put pressure on them early, or protect yourself early enough....if RDW gets12 damage in by turn 3(easily doable against your current list...1goblin guide, 2bushwacker 3teetering peeks(and 2 open mana) 4 goblin grenade, then bolt...game...and even if not game...you are in Critical condition...a top decked burn spell is all they need)...then that would be game
...so....you need something that is ready for the coming RDW...wall of omens...*great with venser* kor firewalker.... Seagate oracle is also great with venser...as is Jace 1, sun titan tumble magnet is awesome aswell....So... yeah...you need speed, and/defensive speed.
I believe it's something like this....Creatures can't have -1/-1 counters put on them until they are ON the battlefield...once they are on the battlefield the counters go on them...So they all show up at the same time, melira's ability is static which means it is applicable as soon as she is on the battlefield, however she must enter the battlefield FIRST, which means the counters never get placed on them.
Example melira on the battlefield, you sacrifice glen elendra, she comes back with no counter on her.
I believe this is the case, as melira specifically states creatures you control cant have counters put on them.
It's defintiely O-Ring, As they said...Aron forsythe(sp?) said that not reprinting o-ring was a HUGE mistake (meaning, it is a card that should be accessible at all times in the format) Meaning...It's O-ring.
Yes, the LAST troll....On Mirrodin...or should I say,"New Phyrexia"...There are tons of other trolls...Mossbridge troll(Lorwyn), troll ascetic(dominara), cudgel troll(dominara) golgari grave troll(ravnica)....Lots of trolls lots of places. So, LAST troll...On mirrodin. El senor Ascetic Exists on Dominara...Considering their stubbornness and the lack of a phyrexian plague on Dominara or an eldrazi infestation...He's likely still there.
(though I do yield to the "thrun was just printed and is a Hexproof troll" argument. Stranger more redundant things have been done.)
Everyone's favorite troll! Considering they are making "hex proof" evergreen, I would think our favorite troll...The one "troll shroud" was named after, as the term was referenced for so long...Very well might be in the set...He isn't stuck on mirrodin as he was in dominara for 10th edition. That said...Wouldn't it be very possible, if not probable, that the originator of "Troll shroud" should make a showing as his very cuddly and special mechanic goes evergreen...?
For all those looking at Karn's loyalty.... It's saved in toughness not Power....you need to click on the card, right click on view/edit record, delete toughness, and then put in power %6# ....That should work just dandy.

Plus, curse of deathshold......Dead.

You're likely right, For good reasons, but I can always hope to DREAM! Dreams that can't be the target spells or abilities my opponents control...

I sure hope so.
