Every poster that claims it's all about winning because there is a prize and/or a small entry fee is anti-social, egoistic and generally not nice.

You want to make money playing cards? Be real good and go PRO-tour, play the main event,... Do NOT pester the different type of Magiccers whom actually do not mind paying a small entry fee if that brings new opponents, fresh decks and a fun atmosphere.

Off course I realize that there will always be idiots who see not peopl with a different motive and different perception of playing an (very very small) tournament. These idiots see fish which they, as sharks, MUST devour to work hard all day long so maybe they can get a dual (if all works out) and wreck everybody else's fun.

    NEWSFLASH
Get a job, work hard all day long and get more as 1 dual. Leave the casual crowd alone.

If you want to prove how good you are, play against players with the same attitude because bringing a gun to a knife-fight isn't good or showing skill, it's being an ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺ (and to me, saying you ain't cutting the mustard at the real events).

Why would you spend $5 to enter a EDH tournament and expect to play your super casual deck and win? If I were to enter my local FNM, which has a similar entry cost, I wouldn't complain about playing against cutthroat Standard decks. If you want to play casually, go to the side and play without money on the line. The CASUAL CROUD should leave the tournaments alone. Saying that they pay $5 to play a variety of decks is a trash argument. There are plenty of people playing on the sidelines with wide variety of decks.

You didn't actually read the article did you? The issue was that even John S (Arcum) wasn't having a good time.

According to sheldon he wasn't have a good time. We don't know what his state of mind was at the time of playing the deck.

I'm just curious, but why do none of the lists that I've seen run a heavier artifact theme with Tempered Steel? It seems like it would be stronger, since it would pump all of our less than ideal 0 cmc artifacts.

Well, if you want something a little more relate-able, running 40 lands is equivalent to running 24 lands in a 60 card deck. So while it may seem like a lot, it really isn't that much considering almost all EDH are pretty top heavy.

^ What he said. Ponder imo, is the biggest loss to the deck, not Time Warp. One of the reasons this decks is even viable is because of the humongous number of cheap cantrips.

What sorts of changes would you make to this deck for a multiplayer format? I'm interested in building something similar, but my playgroup never does 1v1. I'd assume that some of the pinpoint land destruction would be cut for something more splashy. Any suggestions?

Hey there. I've been playing Maga for a while and I just have a few questions about some of your card choices. I used to have Drain Life and Consume Spirit in the deck as well, but I found them unnecessary since any time I would want to play them, I could just cast Maga instead. And I also found Corrupt unimpressive as well. Aside from that, your list is rock solid.

The only card I have in my deck that you don't that I consider too good to be cut is Chainer, Dementia Master. Left unchecked, it will win the game for you. It also serves as semi-graveyard hate.

Maybe it's because my playgroup is more cutthroat, but we usually don't have problems with people complaining about douchbaggery. There are a few things that people dislike, such as mass-land destruction when there isn't any clear finish. But we all generally have the mentality of improving our decks rather than complaining.

Hey there. Congratulations on choosing the coolest general to make a deck around! Saffi was my first EDH and still by far my most favorite. The main combo is

Saffi + Reivellark + Mirror Entity(or any sac outlet) + EtBF Effect(mostly Acidic Slime). This gets you infinite Come into Play Effects.

There is only really one card that I consider mandatory with Saffi: Survival of the Fittest. This card is just nuts in this deck. It gets you ALL of the pieces of your combo in one go. Because this card is so nuts, you really want ways to tutor for it. Enlightened Tutor etc. are all in my deck as ways to get Survival online.

    Good luck with Saffi.

Went 4-3 at the SLC PTQ, losing to my own play mistakes and to not mulligaining hands that could only produce 2 colors. (I think my mana base needs work) This is the list I ran:

I really like Vengevine in the main. It really adds to the aggressiveness to the deck, which I wanted against all the control decks floating around the room. I was very happy with my maindeck, but I would definitely consider tweaking the mana base. I felt that 26 lands was sufficient. (Maybe -1 mountain +1 Dragonskull)

Thought Hemorage out of the board was pretty meh all day long. All the u/w lists that I saw had such varied threats that resolving one hardly would matter. On the other hand, Duress was amazing. Grabbing their Jace preemptively or taking the Day was great.

A card that I would really like to test in the sideboard is Trace of Abundance. Spreading Seas/Tectonic Edge is becoming more and more common(u/w hello...) and having a way to both protect your manlands and fix your mana is very appealing.

Overall, I didn't feel like I had any bad matchups (except mono red, which I doubt I'll ever run into) If I were to play in a tournament tomorrow, I'd probably run the same main(with maybe a tweaked mana base and the 4th Pulse) but with this SB:

    Thoughts?

Unless you're planning on doing the Standard PTQ season, go for it. Standard right now is pretty bogged down by Jund. Keeping up with the latest Mythics is pretty tiresome. Personally I'll be running Jund during the upcoming standard PTQs, but that's just because I own the cards for it already. (Not to mention it's pretty cheap to build, at least compared to all the Jaces and Banslayers running around)

The main reason I wouldn't run Architects main is because of Ingot Chewer. It's the same reason Faerie Macabre is kinda bad. You're forced to blow your own creatures up. And the scrye isn't that important usually. Not to mention a 3/3 body is pretty small.

Wild Nacatl > all ur creatures. I don't see a reason to play Jund over the normal zoo builds. Your removal isn't any better in Jund and the creatures are pretty much strictly worse. Death's Shadow is cute at best. Goblin Guide is bad. Dark Confidant is something I can get behind, but in my testing it's pretty mediocre in zoo. Vampire Lacerator is terrible. It gets outclassed way too fast. If you want to play Blood Moon play the Naya build. It's just more powerful. White just offers better options.

Zoo players are starting to wise up and play Cannonist in the board. It's just so good against random combo decks. I'm personally going to be playing 4 in my board for the last ptq i go to.

is Volcanic Fallout mostly for the faeries matchup?

It's amazing vs fae. But it's also good vs elves and merfolk(if you ever see it). I just liked the added insurance vs weenie decks. It's probably not necessary though. It could probably get cut for canonists, since living end and hypergenesis are pretty bad. If I were to do a tournament tomorrow, I'd probably do something like this:

    4x Jitte
    3x Path
    4x Cannonist
    2x Ancient Grudge
    2x Damping Matrix

The numbers can be tweaked, but that looks pretty solid. Fae is already a solid matchup. Bringing in the 4 Jittes turns it into a near Bye. I've been very happy with my mirror SB plan, but I could see cutting a Jitte for a Ranger. There are situations where either could be better.

Cannonists are for the main combo matchups. Elves, Living End, Hypergenesis. I played with 2 initially, but you just didn't draw it enough to be relevant. For yesterday's ptq I figured I'd either go up to 4 or cut them entirely. However, I don't really want to just give up on those matchups in retrospect, so maybe going to 4 is the right number. In the matchups where you want Cannonist, You REALLY need to find one and keep it on the board. Thus why I think 4 or none is the right number.

Also, as far as adding more basics to the deck over rav duals, the reason I had 2 of each ravnica dual is for post Bust. If you only have 1, you sometimes really need that 2nd dual. It's a pretty delicate balance because you do really need those basics. I was actually considering cutting the Treetop Village for another basic Plains. So many times the Treetop was just awkward. However, it did help me win a couple games I couldn't have won otherwise. So it's a tough call. I've seen some people using the new G/W manland instead and I think that's a mistake. The trample with all of our exalted triggers is VERY relevant. And the activation cost is also much easier.
