A 2/2 for 1G or a 5/5 Trample for 3GG on itself is not cubeworthy, but having both in one card is surprisingly strong. Versatility goes a long way.
But it was one of the last cards to get accepted in the shortlist. Frederik really likes it and because it is so versatile it is never a bad card. (Neither is it a gamebreaking card, but hey you can't have your cake and eat it)
If an aggro deck cannot handle one enchantment, it is a very vulnerable aggro deck indeed. Sure it will hurt, but it is not like a complete lock à la Moat.
As DerBK said just pick enough Disenchant effects high enough and side them in if you don't main deck them. I always find it strange that quite a number of people dislike picking Discenchant-like card when stuff like this comes up so often.
Sure, but it feels strange to post something like that in the other thread. The question there is "Should I run this card?" and giving an opinion about why people shouldn't run card x feels a bit off topic.
Question for those running Un-cards. Where do you draw the line? Or do you just look at how powerfull the card is?
I remember card which forced you to put it on your head or speak in rhyme. Seems powerfull enough but just to random or silly to me.
But if you draw the line somewhere how do you decide where? It seems rather arbitrary so we decided to not run Un-cards at all.
Though I can see the potential problems this thread could cause, it does have a reason to exist beside the "Should I run this Card thread". It is a place where you can question cards that you do not like at all. Maybe you are right and can make other people's Cube better, maybe they can convince you. (
More likely, everyone just states their opinion and thinks the other side is stupid;))
This might be helpfull for some people. It is not because somebody dislikes a certain card in your cube that this constitues a personal afront or attack.
The Mindless auto dude became uncubable after M10 imo.
True this. Even before you would have to be a fan I think, but the rule change got the better of him. Pitty because it still is a very good card. I remember drawing quite a number of cards with it back in the day.
Among the ones already mentioned, Skittering Horror and Puppeteer Clique might fit into your cube.
The first one is a easy to cast 4 power creature, the other can deal immense damage out of nowhere, gives you off color etb effects and graveyard hate on a medium sized creature (which means that you can reuse it if you need to). The persist is a nice bonus, but I think I would still play the card without that ability.
Do you need Necropotence in addition to Yawgmoth's Bargain? Since it is harder to cast and you don't get the cards immediately you don't find that many copies of the scull in other cubes.
If you want to make room for another spell, Befoul a is rather expensive removal spell.
No Mindtwist? Yes, this card is broken, but since you are playing with P9, I wouldn't ban any other cards.
Beacon of Unrest was really cool for us, since it can target both graveyards and can also get you artifacts back + when the game lasts longer than usual, you can cast it every few turns.
I am the one who insisted on having Necropotence. Even though Bargain clearly is better, in my opinion Necro just has too much potential power not to be included. And i have to admit, I just love the card.
I want the cube to have enough Land Destruction so this can be a viable archytype. Or a very playable back up plan for other decks. Cards like Befoul, Creeping Mold and Aftershock are great for this as they are not just simple land destruction which would be too narrow to make it in. I like Land Destruction as a deck, even though a lot of people dislike it enough to make Wizards choose to not make it playable in standard anymore.
Puppeteer Clique was one of the last cards to get cut. It will probably get a change if one of our current cards ends up to be dissapointing.
Order of the Ebon Hand and Phyrexian Rager are just plain good creatures. I agree that they don't have a wow factor or aren't super exciting, but they are playable in a lot of decks. And will just do their job. The Order might get cut if we end up having too many many intensive black cards.
I like to pick up lands while drafting. It makes me happy when I end up with a deck that actually works and run over the guy with a clunky deck filled with hard to cast bombs. Getting rid of the lands during draft makes for less hard choices and thus less enjoyable drafts. I enjoy drafting more then playing actually so that is quite crucial.
I do draft with 8 players (well actually we are two and rochester like we are with 8 but hey;)) which makes for a different drafting experience. With less players drafting becomes simpler and more black and white.
We hesitated a long time between Palinchron and Spinx of Jwar Isle. In the end Palinchron won out because of the fact that being free opens uo many possibilities. But it was a very close call. We could have both, but does Blue really need a lot of finishers? Any evasive creature will do once you have control , which is also part of the reason for the 3/1 flyers.
Nezumi Graverobber really impressed me last draft. He was one of the best creatures I've seen in my opening hand. He was a 4/2 for 1B on turn 1 or 2 with an unfair reanimation power. I know that is what the card says, but I just didn't fully comprehend how insane he was early!
I have been thinking of putting Archive Trap in our cube. 13 cards is not something to be sneezed at and with all those fetchland, tutors and green land acceleration it should end up being cast for 0 quite often.
If you play this in UB control deck you should regularly be able to just control the board untill he draws his last card. Or is this card only playable in a dedicated mill deck and should we only run it if we put more mill cards in?
So I can safely assume you won't cube with Wasteland... because it's strictly worse than Strip Mine? I mean... if they were both in the same pack, you'd take Strip Mine 100% of the time, right? So you're going to cut Wasteland?
No, following his logic he would cut Strip Mine. Though those cards are not 100% identical as his other examples were.

Indeed the original text seems much clearer.

I would jump at every change I get to cheat a Hellkite Overlord, Broodmage Dragon, Woodfall Primus or a Simic Sky Swallower in play.
True this. Even before you would have to be a fan I think, but the rule change got the better of him. Pitty because it still is a very good card. I remember drawing quite a number of cards with it back in the day.
Of those cards you mention I would run Thrashing Wumpus, which is surprisingly powerfull, and Bane of the Living.
The others are not strong enough I think. The Automaton has potential, but you need to combo with it to really make it shine.

Doesn't he only flip when you use his ability?
