Ok, you won me over. Stormbind goes back in(OK, and Fires of yavimaya). I have a crush on the card anyway :p

Just glancing at your coloured - obviously different as you don't have access to later stuff. I like the inclusion of Army Ants and Goblin Trenches in your cube. I've been on the fence about these for a while. I'll add them when I get my Crucible of Worlds. Pernicious Deed is another one I need to get hold of, but I've known that since Apoc came out Kekeke

Frenetic Efreet though? wtf? Is he any good?

There's also Rumbling Slum... that guy's a hero!

Yeah and it's one of my favourite cards ever. I should add him really!

I used to not think Stormbind was that great, but I think that it's better thought of as a finisher (get your opponent down to 6 with creatures/burn, stormbind to the dome for the last 6 points) as opposed to a source of shocks against creatures, although it certainly can be. Think of it as an Arc-Slogger in a way.

Stalking Yeti - if you have room, I think it's good. Not as good as FtK but I think it's still good. I had Price of Progress in mine, I took it out because I think other cards hose non-basics better (the Dwarven miner and blastminer duo.) Sharpshooter reminds me in a way of Hissing Iguanar in mine in terms of punishing Wrath effects, but can also kill 1/1s easily.

Vol is probably the worst planeswalker in my cube (no Tezzeret) - but he's still a beating. He suffers in that he can't protect himself like Garruk or Elspeth, but I definitely like him. I don't know if I'd say he obeseletes Fires (I love fires too.)

Exploding Borders seems like a not-as-good Blightning in that for Blightning, 3 mana to make your opponent discard 2 cards may not be the most amazing thing over, but it's enough to tide the initial effect over. Rampant Growth effects typically cost 2 and for the cost being 4 with borders, the damage doesn't make up for the additional casting cost.

I'm not a huge fan of Assault/Battery (both sides seem subpar), Vexing Shusher since it's just a Grizzly Bears against non-blue decks and Radha (it does give free mana for burn, which is nice, but I think the proposed additions like Shivan Wurm/Stormbind/Fires/Vol are better overall.)

Cheers Usman, you are probably right about the Assault Battery. The flexibility is nice but Stormbind could maybe take its place.

Thanks for the feedback guys, if anyone wants to cast an eye over my Red section at some point then that would be appreciated!

    Cheers man.

Most of the ones you suggested I've had in at some point. Hull Breach is nice though, I have one from back in Planeshift days so I'll add that in.

You do realise that Radha's ability isn't obligatory, right? It's rare that it comes in useful, but you don't have to have the mana if you ain't going to use it.

I like Stormbind, a classic card, and play it in Gruul, but it wasn't good in the cube and I took it out. 5 mana and two cards for the first Shock didn't do anything to excite me. Random discard hurts too. I figured it compared pretty unfavourably to Seismic Assault. If control lets this resolve and stay in play for 10 turns they deserve to lose anyway.

Exploding Borders is really good, and you should try it. Even Rampant Growth plus Shock/Lightning Bolt to the face is OK for ramp decks, and it often hits for four or five late game, making it non-redundant acceleration. OK, Raging Kavu is bad. I am just trying it out at the moment and it hasn't come up yet. Shivan Wurm is already coming in a trade and will replace that guy. You're right, Shivan Wurm is the best Grin

Savage Twister again was in til recently, when I took it out for Firespout, which is similar. Green has its hurricane effects and Red has Earthquake effects already. I can see the argument for it though, being psuedo-global removal, so I will consider it back in.

Again Fires of Yavimaya was in 'til recently, but I hear that Sarkhan Vol basically obsoletes this, so I am waiting to put him in. Nothing against FoY.

Artifact Mutation is epic. I need that for sure.

By the way, "Ach! Hans, Run!" is absolutely nuts, despite the mana cost being clunky. It is a like a Sneak Attack/Killer Instinct on steroids and a very short clock if not dealt with. If you can remember what creatures are in your deck, it's super good. A lot of Cubers consider themselves above Unglued cards, but there are some real gems.

I will pop across to your thread and check out your other colour combinations for ideas. Do you think Price of Progress, Stalking Yeti, and Goblin Sharpshooter are worthy of a place in Cube?

I used to run a distinct multicolour section and hybrid section. However, I found that some colour pairs end up with good multi cards not being played and playing suboptimal hybrid cards. So I combined them now into one group. That way a colour with lots of good hybrid and only a couple of good multicolour doesn't suffer.

There may be a small imbalance of hybrids that are available in monocolour where multicolour cards are not, but given the size of the average cube, you don't care about the tiny upset.

For U/B hybrid though I recommend Sygg, River Cutthroat, he has been amazing for me. Obviously Dimir Guildmage and Oona are really good. I also run Fate Transfer for fun and am trying out Cemetary Puca who has potential in a removal-heavy deck.

The U/B multis are more obvious, but I recommend Wydwen, the Biting Gale as well as the normal suspects, she has been great.

Where in the UK are you? They were really easy to get here, much easier than the US from what I can tell. I have two Smile

Southampton - I had two traders promise to let me know as soon as they were available, and never heard anything. Still good to know that they can be bought. Did you order them from a site? PM me the site if so - thanks!

I would personally love to see artifacts or lands. There'd actually be a lot of awesome stuff they could do for lands. Strip Mine, Maze of Ith, Tolarian Academy, Gaea's Cradle, Serra Sanctum, Rishadan Port, Karakas. And of course if they really wanted to be generous a dual or fetch, but that's more wishful thanking than realistic. :p

This would be awesome, and I can see this happening. Even without the duel or fetch, this would be well worth buying, so fingers crossed!

I hope this is easier to get hold of than the Dragons edition. I was so stoked about that, and it isn't even available here. The ones on eBay went at crazy prices partly because sellers split a lot of them in singles. Not cool, Wizards.

I would have put my money on Angels if not for the DvD, but still, it could happen. I would want that for sure. I can't think of that many alternatives...

    Tundra, HM to Plateau

Most of these are pretty good, especially by early standards

Metamorphosis isn't badly done... but it's ugly. It gets my vote.

    Erhnam Djinn a close second.

PS: I've never seen a Singing Tree before... I love this card!

I don't like Scorched Rusalka. I never did even in Rav block. Leaving R up on the attack is OK, but... it just is underwhelming I guess.

Hissing Iguanar has been solid here, the one toughness is not a big deal and he usually gets a few points of damage in for free, something the Rusalka doesn't. Also, a 3 mana 3/1 in Red is kind of OK just as a decent offensive creature. I recommend him quite highly.

  • posted a message on South Park & Family Guy
I love Family Guy and the Simpsons. Both are excellent in different ways. I like the fact that both shows make some quite astute but subtle observations on different cultures. I also enjoy that Family Guy isn't scared of offending anyone. I don't know how it is on your side of the pond (to the majority of users here), but it almost seems like people actually want to be offended over here.

I have never really got into South Park, but have never really given it a chance. I *hated* Scrubs at first, now it is one of my favourite shows. American humour in comedy has come a very long way.

Don't get me wrong - the Efreet is amazing, and if I owned one, it would probably go in. If just feels strange playing a blatently black card in Blue. How the colour pie was different back then...

The Rebecca Guay PtE is simply gorgeous. My girlfriend collects RG stuff and will lvoe this!

Need one for Cube for myself too, for sure!

The Hellspark reminds me of Sparkspitter, but nice artwork anyway!

I would love for that to be Demonic Tutor. It looks more likely than Grave Pact. I see no grave O_o

Could equally be something like Night's Whisper?

    Hi all,

What is the valuation on a Mint/NM Korean Goblin Lackey?

I ask because I honestly have no idea and can't find any online anywhere to verify.

    Thanks in advance!

That is pretty ridiculous, fdtori. Good call on the Time Strech.

I may develop a kind of toolbox build for this deck. Just off the top of my head:

Dunno, something like that. Altough I only have 2 each of Underground River and Watery Grave...

This could equally go U/W with Academy Rector I guess.

    First Edit:

    Adds Mountain for Anger (Doh!)

I generally play 1v1 Cube too, in precisely the same way as bondafong.

I invented my own format for really quick Cube games every now and again where time is of the essence, and I haven't got time to sort a draft out and construct properly.

    You basically:

    1) Each player takes at random 8 cards of each colour, 10 multicolour, 8 artifact and 6 non-basic lands.
    2) Grab about 8 of each basic land and shuffle in.
    3) You now have a huge 5-color deck. Your starting hand is 10. Your maximum hand size is 10. You draw two a turn.

Ridiculous, hilarious, and fun. Takes <2 min to set up. Discard and Draw are gimped though. Cube purists be damned!
