Wow, 20 Guru lands for a Tezzeret. You must feel like that kid who got my Zodiac Dragon!
Seriously, I would love one of each Guru lands, but they will have to wait.
I always get the MPS promo lands that come out every year; normally John Avon does a set, and as we well know, his land art is beautiful. I have the 2006, 2007 and 2008 MPS sets in my cube atm and will buy a set of the new Alara-themed ones when the price drops.
I have also come to hate these morons, one of whom actually put me off of tourney play at Coldsnap a couple of years ago.
I got a totally horrible Sealed draft and went down 2-0, 2-0 in my first two games. He also had gone 2-0, 2-0 down. Despite this he was still being cocky and playing far too quickly. I caught him cheating on mana at least twice. What's more, he reduced his life total by too few points after my attacks on two occasions and claimed that it was 'my job to keep track of his life total'.
When I swung with my Kjeldoran Outrider he blocked on his Frost Raptor, and then declared that he would 'unblock' with it once I paid W to beef it to 2/3. I gave him a last warning that I would call the judge. Even after he carried on dicking about, he still only got a verbal warning. I still managed to win 2-0 and he threw a temper tantrum, refusing to shake hands and storming off. For a pre-release, seems a little serious.
Goes to show that most of these elitists can't take being beaten.
For me, humility when winning and graciousness when losing is very important. I have been playing the game for longer than most and still make bum errors, like everyone, but there is little room in any game or sport for belitting others less skilled or fortunate.
While browsing through my cards today i also couldn't help to think about Drelnoch I can imagine it as part of a blue splash.
Dude, none of your card tags apart from Drelnoch work in this post!
I think you should consider Quicksand, it has been really good here as an answer for Red and Black to deal with pro Knights and the like. Also Mouth of Ronom if you run snow.
I run Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree and am considering Sunhome and Skarrg too, they were very good in Rav block the tree has been great. It's basically Kjeldoran Outpost Mk II.
I have found the Forbidding Watchtower to be pretty poor. I wanted it to be good. I even tried running it in with Doran back in Lorwyn Block, didn't work out so well though. I can see it being useful in U/W control where you might leave a lot of mana up anyway, but that's about all. As far as manlands go, I would probably run Spawning Pool ahead of this personally.
EDIT: I have an increasing number of Soldiers in my Cube and am considering adding Field Marshal and Daru Warchief. If and when I do, the 'tower might just go back in
A mix, mainly promo foils, some basic foils (post Mirrodin in preference) and Unhinged foils, my favourite because of John Avon. Many of his forests I believe are based on the New Forest where I live.
I would love Guru lands, they are amazing. I don't spend £30 on a card though let alone a basic land.
Exhume is amazing, best T2, but it can backfire late game. However you always know what your opponent can get, so it is a calculated risk. Most of the time you just kill-spell their new guy.
Scroll Rack hasn't been found to be time consuming for me. Gifts Ungiven is the worst one, and everyone and their mother runs that card. I bring a tent and pillows when people play it.
Other repeat time-wasting offenders include Vampiric Tutor, turn one Thoughtseize, Sylvan Library, Top, and Entomb.
I really like Pristine Angel (just got one!) in U/W control because you always have an instant to hand which helps protect her. Twilight Shepherd is nice, but the ability never ever does anything. A big dumb 5/5 flying vigilance which recurs as a 4/4 is still very good for 6 but indeed the triple W really turns me off the card.
I really hope I get a copy of this. Firstly the cards will be great in my Cube, and secondly, the special Guay and Avon artwork willl be fantastic.
If anyone knows of a place to pre-order this from the UK, please let me know! I hope this is more available than FTV : D and that sellers don't hoard and split up the sets.
Haha, ya... Still, the Ultra Pros have been good for me so far, and keep my cards in good nick. My pet hate though is when bits of fluff and crud get inside the sleeve at the top and make their way inside... it happens even though I keep the Cube in a sealed box, and I'm pretty sure it would happen even in a vacuum
The fact that this is blue bothers me a little - Zombies seem to be going through an identity crisis of sorts. Zombs are a traditionally mono-black tribe and they go and print great Zombies in BW (Tidehollow Sculler) BR (Shambling Remains) and now this UB guy! I will be tough to run all of these! The only really good monoblack zombies in Shards block have been Death Baron and Viscera Dragger, and the latter is somewhat of a niche card. Might have to start running Ancient Ziggurat...
Despite the name, I don't think we're loking at another Zombie lord here - especially not in the +1/+1 sense. The Unearth as an instant idea and Chocopuppet's reverse Body Snatcher seem very plausible though.
What are your views on the following cards:
Holistic Wisdom?
Militia's Pride?
Tendo Ice Bridge?
Humility?
Negate?
The Abyss
Mirrorweave?
Opinions please guys!
