I liked your article it was interesting even though I didn't really learn anything that I didn't already know.

But I do have a problem with something you said. You were talking about deck sleeves that stick together and you threatening an opponent that he needs to get new sleeves or your going to have to "riffle" shuffle his deck in a way that may damage his cards. I'm not sure if you know this but willingly and knowingly causing damage to an opponents cards is an infractionable offence that can get you disqualified from an event and if the damage is of a serious monetary extent you can be banned from DCI events. You can always choose to pile shuffle his cards in 6-8 stacks and then carefully shuffle the stacks together. This takes about 45 seconds for someone who is moderately experienced in shuffling and handling cards and won't cause your match time much damage.

Lol, it's usually a littl more tongue in cheek. Wink, wink, grin, grin.

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback.

    A couple of answers:

No, I don't own a X-Box. I have cut back on video games over the last few years. With my hectic life and such, I had to make some choices. I decided I wanted to focus on Magic and my other writing pursuits. Thus, the videogames got put up on the shelf to collect dust.

I did know about the Guru program. Well...its gone and outdated. I have some thoughts on this...suprise, surprise. I was thinking about writing on other subjects here in the future, but I guess I will have to take on a subject I have been thinking about for awhile that will address many of the points some people have brought up. Hopefully, I will have it up in a few weeks.

Lastly, it makes me very happy to hear of the many people who take less experienced people under their wing. It gives me great faith on the future of this game.

I think it would be interesting to have a dual land that when it comes into play, you choose whether it is a forest or a mountain.

    Ex: Forestfire

    Land-Forest

When Forestfire comes into play, you may put a land counter on Forestfire. If Forestfire has a counter on it, it is a Mountain.

I doubt it, but I like to speculate.

My personal theory on the core set change is that it allows Wizards (marketing) to have the largest set of the year come out during the holidays when everybody has cash or can get their parents to buy them cards for the holidays. By having the core set come out every year, it permanently places the largest set at this time. In order to keep Magic players happy, they had to resort to making new cards in the core set. It makes sense to me on a purely business perspective. Then, who knows what happens in pits of insanity.

i really loved this article and definitely can target some people in my play group, yours truly included, as part titus. however, im surprised you didnt tackle the possibility of someone being Vorthos-Titus or Melvin-Titus or even Vorthus-Melvin-Titus. do you think these combinations are not possible or did it simply slip your mind?

It didn't slip my mind. Basically, I was hesitant about going down too far down the rabbit hole if you get my drift.

FYI for any of my readers. I don't usually respond in the forums. My personal philosophy is that I had my 3000 words. Article forums is for the readers. If for some reason I didn't get my point across effectively or the article lacked in entertainment value, I should have wrote a better article instead of trying to defend it in the forums.

A whole other question, how big a population would you say a town needs to support a decent store?

Interesting. I'm not really sure what the bottom population size would be. I think its more important whether there is a college in said town or the vibe of the town. If the town doesn't have a established college, stores never seem to last too long. Colleges themselves seem to bring this vibe or energy to the area. I wish I could explain what I mean better. Seatle (WA) or Madison (WI) are two of the best examples of places that have this vibe. Somehow when you are in those places you can just feel the energy.

Then again, maybe there are just smarter people in those towns that like to play games. Grin
