First off, I'm very happy to see this list get updated, it's been too long. I think the most important question after such a long hiatus would be "is Ruhan still relevant?" I know we've discussed this in private, but since the majority of the people in this thread don't have the privilege of knowing you personally I think this thread would benefit from an undated explanation of when and why choosing Ruhan over other control options is correct.
As far as specific card choices go I just have a few questions.
Without scepter, are Orim's Chant and Silence still worth playing? The only popular matchup I can't think of where I'd want them would be Wanderer. Am I missing something?
Have you considered Dack Fayden? He's pretty insane in my opinion.
Same goes for Dig Through Time.
With so many spells I wonder if Young Pyromancer and Monastary Mentor might be worth it. Although I could also see the tension with the sweepers being too much. Just curious if you had considered them.
I'm not a huge fan of Myriad Landscape in a deck with this many cheap colored spells. I feel like the costs would outweigh the benefits most of the time but I've honestly never tested it. I'll be curious to see how this one plays out.
Do you think having a huge haymaker that you could tutor for/draw to would be worth it? I'm thinking Sphinx's Revelation here but there are other options. Just to have something that could put the nail in the coffin or catch you up when you've fallen behind. I feel like this deck is better at interacting early than most other control decks, so you're less likely to fall behind in the first place, but still I think there might be value in having this as a one of. Although I could see just something like Treasure Cruise being enough.
Finally, I know it can be a little awkward, but Stubborn Denial is pretty sexy with a Ruhan in play :).
Really looking forward to hearing your thoughts and I can't wait to find out this decks place in the new metagame!
Arguably any card that actually makes it into decks "changes the format." He will give Jund another good commander that supports, aggro, combo, and Denial based control.
Let me clarify. I think that Prossh is broken, and will be a major player as a general in the duelcommander format.
This is some rather unfortunate news to wake up to. Hopefully this matter will be sorted out soon. If not it would be a huge blow to Duel Commander, at least in the US. I know I'm not excited about going back to MWS. At least the woogerworks.com server seems to be up. Just replace play.cockatrice.de with play.woogerworks.com.
Although it may not matter anymore I was able to defeat Bamboozle 2-0. Well played, good luck going forward in the tournament.
Confirmed, well played. Thanks for posting the match video, hopefully others decide to post their matches as well. Good luck in the rest of the tournament.
I would suggest delaying this another week and moving this thread to the 1v1 forum. I had no idea this was even going on until someone told me about it, as I, and I'm sure many others really only frequent the 1v1 forum here.
