First of all, I really like the level of discussion on this thread. I have followed (silently) for weeks, and have found most of the comments to be very pertinent and valuable.

Second, I have some questions for discussion. Most of them will relate to my current version of the B/R deck, as follows:

As you can see, it is based mostly on Homee's version, with Sygg, Blightning, and Demigod. It has been running pretty well for me on MTGO (I am in the Magic boonies with no real life place to play, and I was busy for Regionals this year), and I am hoping to play in some PTQs shortly.

    Questions:

    1. Puncture Blast. Not many run it. Am I loopy for doing so? I'm running it in the Incinerate slot. Before I ran Sygg, I was running Magma Spray, but I agree with Homee that Incinerate is more synergistic in this deck (so I don't compare PB with Magma Spray). Pros: Goes to the face and activates Sygg; cuts down Chameleon Colossus and Putrid Leech and other fatties nicely; kills persisters dead the first time; is great with damage on the stack to kill the aforesaid fatties when you're blocking ("damage on the stack" sigh). Cons: Costs 3 rather than 2 for Incinerate, which does come into play sometimes.

    2. 61 cards. With Demigod, I found that 23 lands seemed too light, but I couldn't find a place to cut any other card. Actually, I'm ok with the extra card, but I will take a better suggestion of a different card to cut.

    3. Wild Ricochet vs Chaotic Backlash. I've gone back and forth on these. There are much fewer token decks around recently, so CB is less useful, but it can win games against those decks that are unwinnable otherwise. WR is better against a wider range of decks, so that's what I'm currently using.

    4. Anathemancer. I only have 3 between the MD and SB. Is anyone else finding that more and more decks are playing more and more basics to get around this guy? That's why I cut the 4th in the SB.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

I just want to say that my deck was utter filth, a horrible piece of jank if i ever saw one. The first match, well, lets say that faeries dominated this deck. Mistbind clique, well if i can terminate it or terror it, then bad times for me. Whoever thought that not putting in guttorial response in the SB was not very bright, cuz i sure coulda used it on two occasions in two separate matches.

The second was was brilliant, i tore this guys arse up!!!, I was fast and very very quick in my kill, it was great, but over all after that match the others were jank.

Heres the moment of my day. I'm sitting with one black mana source and and desperately need to play an infest to burn all those b/w tokens, I dont get my second black source ( i have the usual 12 non basics for my black sources) He kills me with tokens.

Overall if i did not invest a lot of $$$$ in this deck i woul take this garbage and burn it out in the backyard and bury it. Piece of jank!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I went 1-3 and dropped out to draft

As a blightining player never ever do this. Keep a one land hand with a mogg fanatic. I had a good reason to do so, my next card was a foil because foils curve and bend unlike non foils too bad it was my foil flame javelin!!!!:mad::mad::mad:

I think that with a little tweaking adding in thoughsieze and thought hemmorage that this deck might get better and might not be a piece o jank like it was for me and others

Wow, did you really post this? I think you probably got what you deserved:

    1. YOU are the one who decides what to put in your own sideboard. Anyone who simply takes a list off the boards without deciding for themselves what to run (esp in the SB) has no cause for complaint.

2.Your reason to keep the 1-land hand sounds like you thought you knew that the next card was a land because of the "foil curve". Uh, that's illegal.

You draw your seven cards and they are:

Mountain, FoD, FoD, BGR, Hellspark, Fallout, Anathemancer.

You have play with 23 land.

You are on the play. Do you mulligan?

    What if on the draw?

I would definitely mulligan on the play. If I was on the draw, I would agonize a bit but ultimately I would mull as well.
