We, who does support inclusivity in any form for the things we love are an "infection" for this guy. But of course, we are the ones intolerant. Logic.
Also, this guy doesn't seem to post a lot here, but if you check his brief history half of them are exactly about spreading his personal view of "tolerance" and "respect" in exactly these kind of topics. What a dedication to the cause.
I have nothing more to add your honor.

Honestly, the less IP specific races they do the better. I would have much preferred Halflings to be Kithkin, and many others have Magic equivalents, as I'd rather have more creature types for those that exist in Magic to use when they eventually do get more tribal support rather than incredibly niche types that will likely never do much of anything. -

Card Slinger J posted a message on Magic to become more expensive (again)Unfortunately I don't think the global supply chain issues that attributed to a 9% inflation rate increase will EVER go back to the way it was before. We may have just witnessed the largest exodus of workers / employees in world history due to mask / vaccine mandates, people retiring much earlier for their 401k's, as well as food shortages and famine globally. Global shipping is in shambles because they can't find enough people willing to distribute product and If they do then they're making less than what their companies would owe them under less turbulent circumstances.Posted in: Magic General
How does this affect Paper Magic? Since we have less truck drivers to help distribute sealed product that means more delays with product releases as well as more manufacturing errors in recent products to where the print quality isn't what it once was but it did seem to get better though. Players who order card singles online will probably get more snail mail from the post office because even they're suffering from staff shortages like everyone else. Local Game Stores (LGSs) can't even break even anymore without losing sales to Secret Lair drops that Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro refuses to let them sell publicly.
With the way things are going right now it's gonna make 1929 seem like Happy Fun Day at Six Flags. People are going to be wishing they stocked up on things that actually matter like food, water, guns, and ammunition. Why waste that money on a luxury item like Paper Magic? Not gonna sugarcoat it but I think we're going to be in for some really tough times ahead. We're already in a mild recession due to rising market inflation but at least it's not as bad as it was in 2008 when the global economy was in free fall. -

WarMachinePrime posted a message on Magic to become more expensive (again)Hey WotC/Hasbro if you are reading this. I keep on paying more and more for everything, all my bills are higher and my salary isn't keeping up with inflation. What do you think I am going to cut out of my budget? Hint: it won't be necessities. Rethink your strategy or prepare for leaner times.Posted in: Magic General -

Discuss the artwork or the cards selected, but keep politics and hate out of these forums. There is no reason to act this way, and this thread is an example of terrible behavior. This thread is locked. No more discussion on this topic. I will be combing the thread and determining next steps based on reports and violations.
I am unlocking the thread and watching it. Keep the discussion based on the cards and the art. Thoughtful posts about inclusion and community are allowed, but any further vitriol or ad hominem attacks will be appropriately moderated. Be kind to one another. -

You've been spamming personal attacks against people for not liking a product done in poor taste, even if for a good cause.
What makes this in poor taste?
Considering your first reply to my initial post on this was "Small deck energy" you'll not take criticism in any variety, using a great charity to milk money from people for cards that aside from 2, are available for 2 dollars or less. You'd do better to just get a copy of whichever art done as a large poster print for display. -

Also WotC: Blocks pages related to this product even in countries where gay marriage is legal and/or LGBTQ topics are not subject to heavy regulation like China/Russia
"But in this case rainbow capitalism is fine because 50% of the profits go to charity!"
Just donate 100% of what you would've spent on this to the charity then. You like the art? You can look at it online for free. You don't need it printed on a small piece of cardboard. -

If you've been paying attention to the conversation majority of the folks here are in favour of this product.
Maybe because people go on instant attack mode if somebody doesn't like it? And it's not exactly fun to argue about something where people won't change their mind on either side anyway? People here are just generally louder about that sort of thing too? Also see somebody here is calling for the abortion of people who don't like it. I mean, calm down lol, it's just a card game at the end of the day.
But I say who cares anyway. If you like it, then you're free to buy it. If you don't, then you're free to not buy it too.
Nobody is calling for anyone to be aborted, you centrist ****.
As a matter of fact, you did earlier in this thread. I think you need to calm down. -

Why does it take you so many words to say "I don't understand what consistency, sexuality, and sex are."? Just do human intelligence a favor and shut the **** up already. We get it, you're big mad about being a worthless piece of *****. Sorry that your dying demographic isn't being exclusively pandered to in a world of safe spaces that protect you from -checks notes- other people existing.
You've been spamming personal attacks against people for not liking a product done in poor taste, even if for a good cause. Agreeing with a direction change in art going forward and then a double standard violating their own words. Wanting wotc to be consistent is not too big a stretch. But you and buster making constant attacks against people for a difference in opinion while saying the community you are a part of is oppressed only comes across as cry bullying. -

Its a silly April Fools joke, people took it as the joke it is.
In the lefty (as in left-handed) art they didnt do sexual implicit content, they followed a proper "left handed" art gimmick.
Here they pull the sexualized art, which gets critique ALL THE TIME, not just now.
And right here, its not even a tremendous BAD reception or critique in this thread.
Its Pandering for donations and a group of people that are easily rallied like is clearly visible.
And some people get triggered by literally nothing to a serious degree thats not healthy for them.
----
So its important to not give in to the seeming urge to direct insults, as a bunch of people do here.
Its fine if people like this product with a passion, and its fine if people critique it for whatever reason, and its fine as long as that is discussed in a reasonable polite manner (as it easily slips in politics in these topics, while its not related to any politics at all, its this product, its artwork and the pandering for donations, which has certain political implications, but thats not a topic to discuss in this forum).
2
Their are people for and against it. I want WotC to have at least some kind of consistency in their art-policy and not flip/flop around, depending on what they want to pander to.
The kind of quality control that goes into Secret Lair is a lot less (so artists get more "freedom" to decide, they probably dont censor it as much as they do on Magic cards, and a lot of them are censored in the process of making them, its a lot of cleavage thats covered up on art, and some changes for other markets, like China that dont want human skulls, so they often avoid that from the get go, rather than making new art just for the chinese language version of the card, which they otherwise often did as well).
Consistency is the matter at hand.
The mark post makes clear that they wanted to drastically reduce potential sexual depictions on card art, as they got complains.
Here they abandoned that, and they already get the heat for it (clearly not as much in this thread, but there are vocal people about it that welcome the pandering, and nobody insults them and they are fine to like the product, as are people to critique the product).
----
Gathering Throng , art got the "usual" cover up of female cleavage.
Original version:
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/4X3Qz8
That happens quite a lot.
1
What are you even talking about.
You project pretty hard here.
At some point, take your straw man and let it be.
If anything its about "consistency" and having a clearly defined guideline how WotC is going to handle this kind of art.
It has absolutely nothing to do with any of you stated here.
And if they are not consistent, someone will point it out, and rightfully so.
1
Comment from mark himself, just that you get an idea.
2
Its a "very minor" difference if any at all.
So yea, its quite arguably the same problem.
For consistency they would avoid that kind of artwork on Magic cards (i mean, Bearscape would work without the background sexual parts, the dude and the joke of "harry men = bear" would be fine, even if that will upset some people, like any other supposedly funny comparison of people to animals, which even lead to cards art being banned from the game entirely, so its a hot top regardless, just depends which group of people you pander to or make fun of, could just avoid doing it in the first place).
2
Look at the background, its exactly the same as in the Chandra-Lilliana playmat i posted in the spoiler tag in the comment.
And that playmat was on several occasions not tournament legal as its "not appropriate" (so if that is true for 2 women, it should be true for 2 dudes as well, and equally so for a hetero couple, or any other, as thats the point i want to make with the having equal standards and not pander to one while the other is somehow not appropriate, they either are all fine, or non of them is, and WotC policy does not properly work that out, but throw the issues at the discretion of judges at a tournament, and as these are "legal" cards otherwise, it becomes quite a mess to deal with).
2
Which is fine, hes welcome to say his opinion as anybody else.
Thats the point of civil dialog.
Pointing fingers at individuals for their opinion is clearly a bad thing, as you can support whatever you like, and anybody else can say they dislike whatever you support, and thats fine too.
----
I personally find "Bearscape" funny, while its the kind of art i would NOT want to see on a card in Magic on a table, as i feel its as inappropriate as alternate arts with boobs or anything else on the line on them.
On a bunch of events playmats like the well known Chandra-Liliana one were not even ALLOWED (judges told you thats not "appropriate" for the tournament setting).
And arguably some of the art on these cards is basically on the same level.
----
The issue of "pandering" is simply that WotC is doing that for a reason.
Not to donate money, as they could do that with discretion on their own, but they choose to produce products that inject that into the game, which in itself is a source of problems at casual tables and tournament tables on what is "appropriate" on a Magic card and whats not, to be said they are not very consistent in what is "appropriate" and whats not, its up to a judges discretion, and that varies wildly from judge to judge, which is already bad to make any proper and reasonable judgment call (you want guidelines that are the same and have no prejudice towards any direction).
----
As is visible by responses here as well, simply stating its pandering is already a call to action of finger pointing, and that in itself is bad and the opposite of inclusion (as without the pandering, the game itself is plenty inclusive as it is, doesnt need to be blatantly obvious in whats it pandering for, as thats just more divisive and triggers people on either side, could be avoided in the first place).
1
Really weird that they miss out on such tokens.
The "traditional" Angel would be gender less, but look female, as a lot of them in the early days are from Serra (Serra the Benevolent) or inspired by her in the times of Urza story line based in Dominaria.
Angels traditionally take the form of the god they are from in appearance.
In some of the latest sets in last bunch of years they just threw the entire traditional Angel out of the window, made them "common", but regardless they still have a feminine look, even when they are male, they are rarely looking strongly masculine.
Radiant Solar might be one of the very few male angels that really look male and not just androgynous (being D&D inspired with the "solar" thing, which is a more specific kind of Angel, as the most powerful of them).
2
Actually it would be totally fine in red, as red makes lots of treasure tokens anyway and has that "theme" in basically any other set so far.
In this set every color has treasures, so its neither green or anything, could totally be colorless for that matter alone, as treasures are nothing special in any color regarding this set.
What makes it green is the coupling to lands, as green cares about lands especially, not so much about treasures.
2
So the effect is certainly green, as it makes a ton of mana.
Treasures mainly being a "red" mechanic hurts the entire treasure theme.
