Hey! In many Magic articles, I see references to Metagaming, but it does not seem to be being used in the way I am familiar with it. In my RP days, metagaming was a type of play where a player would use information about the game that their character would not know. This was usually done to further their own ends, cheating essentially. How does this differ from Metagaming in Magic?

    Thanks!

I have a lot of complex ideas on this subject, but for some reason I can't seem to find the words to express them properly. My two biggest concerns are that:
    1) Information is free. Giving out COPIES of the cards ahead of time is one thing, but simply releasing images and text is not the same thing. One is pure information, the other is a product.

    2) Many people, including myself, spend a sizeable amount of money with Wizards monthly. It is the responsibility of the consumer to make sure what they are buying is worth their hard earned money BEFORE blowing a bunch of cash on it.

These are very over simplified explanations, but for some reason the ideas just aren't flowing while I am at work.

I got this from another MTG site and cannot find any more info about it:

In other sad news, uber-spoiler Master Zesty had been nailed by Wizards of the Coast and subsequently banned from sanctioned play for a period of two years. This was the result of running afoul with Copyright laws.

This is a sad day, I love spoilers and it is not nice of Wizards to be such Nazis! Spoilers only help to promote the game and make it more popular!

Hello everyone! I ended up creating a user just so I can post about the death of Scrye, now I am hooked! I have been playing Magic since I was 17 in 1994, started in the downtime between The Dark and Fallen Empires. I am constantly amazed at how the game can constantly re-invent itself. I live in California and have Bachelor's Degree in English. When not playing Magic, I teach a Special Needs class at a local High School, write adventures for an upcoming game (www.academagia.com) and do a lot of other writing and other sorts of art.

Well, I jump in and out and mostly play casually. I know how the rules work now, since they updated them (been playing regularly again since Mirrodin), but at the time Mana Source cards were in print, we weren't playing competively and were not sure if that ruling was correct.

I just read this great article on the mechanical transition from Interrupt/Mana Source to straight Instant and it was fascinating. It really cleared it up. At the time, Interrupts and Mana Sources could not be countered because those cards did not go on the stack, instead they stopped the game completely until they resolved.

Did something being a mana source stop it from being a spell? We thought that Dark Ritual couldn't be countered because it was a Mana Source. Is that correct?

With Scrye gone, who will I turn to for my other CCG strategy needs? Not even websites carry articles for:
    Illuminati
    NetRunner
    or On the Edge
Scrye always provided excellent coverage of these games!
