Apparently the Petition/Past deck also hits Nissa's Renewal repeatedly to pull out all the lands and gain back life. It crushes aggro creature decks (Languish etc.), but for the price to remain high it will have to handle control and have a plan for mirrors. I'd suggest selling anything you've got on it now - it is unlikely to remain high if it is just a meta-breaker.
Sell Jace, Vryn's Prodigy to buy some Ancestral Vision for Modern? I'm not playing the Jaces right now, but I do like the card and would like to have them for general brewing.
The Visions I would play now, but they aren't as fun to brew with.
I'd be getting about TCG Mid coming and going as they are both fairly fluid on PucaTrade.
Keep in mind that Wastes are 99.5% casual only. That means they won't likely see the attention that popular full-art color-producing basics have. While the casual market is strong, Wastes simply aren't useful in competitive formats.
Asking for a suggestion here.
I've been interested in building a Gifts Ungiven deck for a while now, but didn't really have the money for many cards in that deck, so I durdled on buying the gifts.
Should I buy them now? I hate buying into the hype and it doesn't really seem to me the deck is putting up worthy results (yeah, it's at least appearing in top 30s. That's something more than being a fringe deck nobody played, but really... it's not getting any Tier 1 or even Tier 2 results)
Should I buy now or wait for the hype to stop? I really love the deck, it's probably my favourite in the format, but I'm not ready to shell money for many other cards of that deck right now.
The price will probably fall unless the deck puts up some serious results soon. That is unlikely given overall power level. If you could afford a complete deck, I would say buy it now anyways, seeing as you really want to play with it. But because you can't currently build the whole deck, waiting until the price falls seems better than buying now and not playing.
Has anyone here received a PucaTrade Bug with their cards? If so, I'd love to know, since I'm the guy who has sent out over 150 of them.
PucaTrade Bugs are like geocaching travel bugs. Each is a sheet of paper which contains a record of its travel from one person to the next. Receive a bug, add your info, send it off with your next trade. To make it interesting, I name each bug after a Magic set and sketch the set symbol on it.
I started sending out PucaTrade Bugs back when the site was in beta and the community was a lot smaller. On the old PucaTrade forums, people would let me know when they got a bug and sent it out. As I recall, I sent the "Mirage" Bug to the founder Eric and he passed it on.
I'd love to see some PucaTrade bugs which have been in circulation for a while. Let me know if you've seen one!
Unfortunately, although I've received 950 cards so far and my first trade was September 2013, I've yet to receive a bug.
These days I'm mostly trading in Modern mid-level cards and dumping pre-release cards rares. Maybe they move in other circles.
From a story-line perspective, Nahiri vs. Sorin is extraordinarily compelling. If there is any opening for Planeswalker duel decks, this has got to make the cut.
I had a very good SoI pre-release season. I was able to send out nearly all my over-priced rares and mythics to people clamoring for new cards, and put those points into cards for Modern.
It is an essential piece of Red/Green Tron, and out of print for a while. Tron is well-positioned against the expected meta-game, so people looking for a deck that doesn't require an expensive mana-base and want a competitive deck will consider Tron.
Okay, what the hell is going on here? Is there some sick combo that works off of this? Avacyn's Judgment? Devil's Playground? I can't pin this one down.
Todd Anderson made top 4 in yesterday's large SCG tournament, playing a sweet U/R control deck with Goggles and Fall of the Titans.
It is also pretty sweet to drop it and immediately double Lava Axe. You only have to discard one card (like an extra Goggles), and you can immediately kill two things. It is not often an expensive ramp spell lets you immediately clear the board - normally their lack of board impact is their biggest drawback.
So an update to that case I was talking about a few weeks ago, since I had tracking the case admin gave me the points but also gave the recipient the discount he wanted "because of his trading history". If you sent a card that spiked overnight, you MUST get tracking to prove that you shipped it otherwise the other person will lie about not receiving it.
Got all of the modern/legacy staples I wanted with no bounties since then. Just waiting for a couple Tsabo's Webs to be sent but most people probably don't have them or don't want to ship them for the price they're at.
Well....I sent the card out at its high point not knowing it spiked to that price overnight. I didn't get a chance to do tracking --- sent it via PWE.
PS - what is the cheapest way/method to get tracking and what type of shipping parcel? Thank you
For high value trades, I use a padded envelopes called "bubble mailers" and PayPals' multi-order shipping online app. It costs about $2.50 or so. I re-use bubble mailers I received on other trades. Here's a package of 25 for $5. http://www.amazon.com/KRAFT-BUBBLE-MAILERS-PADDED-ENVELOPES/dp/B000GHTBJ8
I added some additional random cards to my Wants and was able to pick up some smaller stuff I'd been wanting for a while. Don't forget that people look for value-sends: adding a Noxious Revival to that pile of Muddle the Mixtures may get you the trade.
I think I've definitely missed the boat on Thopter Foundry and Sword of the Meek as well as Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas. So I was thinking of spec-ing on anti-artifact cards like Blind Obedience and Stony Silence. I was also thinking Ghostly Prison might also get slightly better. Any thoughts before I waste my money? Figured Blind Obedience was already cheap and wouldn't be too much of an investment.
Try pithing needle, hits more than just thopter foundry and is playable in every deck that isn't living end.
I think Pithing Needle is a fantastic hate card. Unfortunately, I think it is a poor spec due to all the recent reprinting.Stony Silence is great too, but is already at $12 and thus seems a bad spec. I'm not sure Blind Obedience does anything useful against Thopter/Sword. I fear the ship on making money on this unbanning has already sailed.
The Visions I would play now, but they aren't as fun to brew with.

In real life, none of the people who want Sin Prodder and Rattlechains have Muddle the Mixture. But on Puca I was able to effectively trade one for the other.
