The other night I lost control. I'm usually a very calm person, I always calculate pros and cons , I try to spend my money in the most efficent way possible, and yet I was hit by a tragic slip, in morbid.
Some guys bought a few boosters and found some rare myrs, a sphynx and some other low level stuff.. "it's time to go for it! the odds are by my side!" I said myself , I mean , some of the worst things of the set were already gone, how bad could it be?
Decided to buy my first pack of MM2 (only did release draft a few weeks back, drafted a primeval, I was happy that way) only to find an overwhelming stampede. [Okay , keep it cool zanio, you got it, you're strong enough to make it!]
Not giving up, bought 1 more , SURPRISE! Loadstone golem...
Completely lost my s**t, I did what a man in that condition should never do : I went berserkr and all-inned with 2 more packs. All I got were Guile and Chimeric Mass, with a little shattered dreams on the side. No valuable uncommon (seems crazy but you'll have to believe me). No valuable Foils. Nothing that could fit in my decks.
They say hope dies last, well.. mine was brutally slaughtered from a bunch of 1$ rares . And it's all my fault [to think i could have bought 2 fulminators or 2 spellskite for that cash , my heart hurts ]
stay safe guys, for MM2 is dark and full of terrors.
This past weekend, I walked into a game store at a nearby mall, saw they had exactly three packs of Modern Masters 2015, and bought them. Pack one, I pulled a Cryptic Command. Pack two, I disappointingly pulled a Wolfbriar Elemental. Pack 3? Tarmogoyf.
Moral of the story: Opening packs is like gambling. Some people win, most people lose. It happens. I'm not sure why you'd lose control.
I fail to understand the vitriol. The set is fun to draft, and features several cards that see plenty of play in Modern. Is a lot of the set just draft-worthy content? Sure, but that's to be expected, given that Limited is always Wizards go-to money maker.
I always think that FNM Promos are interesting, especially ones like these. Since we know that they don't want to release crappy promos, we're seeing a card that R&D expected to be more popular or more playable than it is. It makes me wonder what decks people were playing in the FFL to make them believe Frost Walker was good enough for people to want a promo.
I don't know why people are complaining. My deck runs 4 Frost Walkers currently and usually goes 4-0, 3-1, or 3-0-1 at FNM each week.
I don't think Ugin doesn't care. It seems like he sees the Eldrazi as the bigger tthreat. With Ugin restored, though, the tempests should slow down to normal once more.
they posted an announcement yesterday about the PAX panel saying it will be streamed live. Part of the announcement was saying this "...details about Modern Masters 2015 Edition, and an announcement we don't even dare tell you about until it happens." Could this be part of the special announcement?
When is this Pax panel supposed to happen, anyway? I looked around but couldn't find an exact answer.
Now I'm really eager to see what this is all about.
It appears to be happening today at 3PM Eastern Time.
I like how Narset's obsession with "the Truth" ties nicely back to Sarkhan's own journey a couple of URs back.
I also find this current depiction of Ojutai more likeable than in Khanfall. It's less nineteen eighty-four "Big Brother" white-blue and more, well, Great Teacher. It's a bit problematic for me, though, to see him do a 180 turn from banning all knowledge of past Tarkir to being chill with Narset knowing the truth
Well, over a thousand years have passed. Perhaps he's learned the error of his ways, and sees his new "subjects" as individuals seeking guidance and meaning?
