This looks pushed enough to make it into 360 lists power level wise. The +1 ability is amazing protection considering the price, even protecting you from cards like Sulfiric Vortex, Goblin Bombardment, Cursed Scroll, Chandra... cards that typically provide reach. A 4/4 for 3 isn't embarrassing either and his ult is FAR from flavour text.
I often feel I'd rather have a Time Spiral when holding Timetwister in my hand in most blue decks. I'm considering making the switch in my powered cube but it does mean aggro and tempo (not all) will lose a tool. I'd say the two are very close so if your group is okay with Time Spiral I'd expect them to be okay with Timetwister.
There are definitely games where Mind Twist feels more on the fair side due to not having any rocks in play, but Ancestral, Timewalk and Mana Drain are absurd cards no matter what.
Den Protector survived my cut back down to 360 so yes I value it pretty highly. I believe it's the only morph/megamorph card I run and telegraphing doesn't bother me much.
If it was an instant I can see Ancient Grudge being an easier swap. Instant speed and being able to play it early on and again potentially later in the game (as opposed to hanging on to it waiting for a scarier target) has been big selling points.
I do like this card though and will be looking at other potential cuts. 100% agree on too much Disenchant/Shatter effects having a negative impact on archetypes/overall cube balance but I think most cubes aren't (nearly) there yet.
But especially with wraths too many means your cube is just atrocious for midrange and aggro, and too little and control suffers a lot. I love my concentration now(I cut a lot of red sweepers recently... mostly because I just built decks with lots of red sweepers) so I'm thinking this only really competes against languish damnation and toxic deluge.
I'll be cutting Fumigate because yeah, too many sweepers. Three is a good number for smaller cubes so if we end up running this another sweeper would have to go.
Over time I've really grown to love this card for all the reasons stated above, but it'll be replaced in the Kaladesh update. I expect Fleetwheel Cruiser to do better in aggro so I'll be slotting that in (Cursed Scroll has pretty much been exclusively aggro).
Nice write up dude! I'll be adding #1-4 and #6 in my 420. Also keeping an eye out for Saheeli.
100% agree with Chandra. She's got to be one of the best red cards printed... ever. I'd have a hard time choosing between her and Goblin Guide or even (gasp) Sulfuric Vortex.
I wasn't in the market for a 5cc wrath but I might make room for this. With army in a can guys being among the best creatures, token generators running rampant and burn/haste ending games post wrath, I can see the life gain being very relevant (nice you gain life for blowing up your own guys too).
If anything power helps midrange and control more in my experience since aggro decks have a fairly intensive colour requirement. Im thinking off colour moxen, Sol Ring and Mana Vault.
