I think a B/G deck with Giant Growth, Groundswell and Vines of Vastwood etc can be quite good, providing there will be at least 8-12 creatures with infect and CMC no greater than 3. I mean, those pump spells are effectively doubled in power since your already die to ten poison counters.

I've been contemplating a deck like this as well, seems to have a lot of potential, especially for multiplayer. (Which is my preference.)

I agree with the (nameless one) that a strategy based on Prismatic Omen seems to have more merits. In addition, I would run 4 Crystal Quarry instead of a whole slew of non-basics so the mana base is more reliable and less slow. That would enable the deck to actually defend itself reliably in the first few turns so you can actually get it all online.

I can see this deck going green/white or green/blue at it's core, while building up to the fist with the omen or the quarry. From there, proceed with Eldrazi or other big spells for the win.

Regardless of what Ulamog and Emeria turn out to be, I hope at least one of them sets a new standard when it comes to creature size. Emeria, whom if I recall correctly should be the most powerfull of the three, should be at least 21/21. You know, just to pee off Marit Lage.

As for a design, here's my concept without an extra turn:

    Ulamog, The Infinite Gyre 10
    Legendary Creature - Eldrazi
When Ulamog, The Infinite Gyre comes into play, exile up to three target permanents other than Ulamog, The Infinite Gyre.
    Annihilator 2
When Ulamog, The Infinite Gyre is put into a graveyard from anywhere, exile it.
At the end of any turn, if Ulamog, The Infinite Gyre is exiled, return it to play under it's owner's control.
    10/10

That's quite Infinite right there. No matter what you do it will always come back.

The Eldrazi are not native to Zendikar and thus, do not have to carry any of the characteristics that the Merfolk and Kor attribute to them. I mean, other than the annihilator keyword, what's so earth bound / trickstery about Kozilek?

Judging from the artwork, I can see the Emeria one having flying but other than that, there's no real reason to assume she has anything to do with angels or reanimation. Same goes for Ulamogg.

PS: I love the idea of a big creature with a timewalk stamped on. Especially since it's got annihilator.

Tainted Æther. With the Eldrazi being Æther parasites and requiring sacrifices and all, this just seems to fit the theme of the Eldrazi perfectly.

The other card i was thinking about is Spreading Plague. Such a card would be a bomb for an all-colorless Eldrazi deck and even though flavorwise the plague was the Phyrexian plague, it could be bend to the Eldrazi plagueing the land or somesuch.

But isn't the basic rule of magic that a card's rules text always trumps the general rule? So assuming the general rules get an update that the type Barry always give the ability to tap for 1 then this

    Barry's Land
Basic Land - Mountain Island Swamp Plains Forest Barry
Barry's Land cannot be tapped for colored mana.

would work just fine. It's worse than a basic because it only produces colorless mana, but it's advantage is the 6th type for decks that can use that.

Urza is simply too powerful and iconic of a character in the Magic universe to put on a card. WotC would have to "neuter" his card somewhat, because the reality is that a true to form Urza card should, flavor wise, have insane, unfair abilities. Nicol Bolas got away with being printed (despite still costing an enormous amount of mana) because his power was weakened in the actual storyline.

Nevertheless, people said the same thing about Bolas, and yet he got a card. It's very much possible that an Urza card would depict him in the same time as the Mishra card did mishra; when they were still learning their trade.

If the Eye of Ugin is the only thing powerful enough to lock the Eldrazi and a dragon king was sacrificed the first time to create one, then I have a good theory on how it ends: Sarkhan Vol is somehow released from Bolas's control without Bolas knowing it, and somehow tricks Bolas into being sacrificed to create an Eye of Ugin v2. Eye of Bolas?

Another old planeswalker gone for good...

I can see her in a red / blue combo style deck with Timewarps and Timestretches. Basically you Mind Bend her ultimate to blue, go off, and by the time your opponent would get another turn you accumulated enough counters to go again.

I'm thinking of a Valakut/Scapeshift deck. Basically, you just need to get 8 lands in play, then scapeshift them all and go get 7 mountains + a Valakut. 21 to the dome.

One way or another, I am going to abuse Prismatic Omen with the whole cares about land type thing. It's probably nowehere near competitive, but if all the lands in the Valakut/Emeria cycle are that good, making a 5 color deck with prismatic omen and all these kick ass lands for a multiplayer deck seems to much fun to pass up.

Don't forget that the walker's second ability usually can be played when they come into play. Personally i think her first ability is quite good but even if you don't her second ability might well be worth it if it makes an impact as soon as she hits the battlefield. Might also explain her higher mana cost, because 6 mana for her first ability is a little underwhelming.

If her second ablility is a personal wheel of fortune and her third an obliterate effect like people mentioned before, then she'd be quite a cool walker to build a deck around.

She'll obliterate everything, then provide you with the control and card drawing power to recover more quickly then your opponent.

Or a second ability -4: Ruination. That would give monored something against 5cc.

    A few ideas:

Tondor, Guardian of the Sanctuary 2WU
    Planeswalker - Tondor
Tondor cannot be attacked except by creatures with flying or islandwalk.
    [+0]: Gain 3 life
[+1]: Put a 1/1 white pegasus creature token with flying into play.
[-7]: Put X 1/1 white pegasus creature tokens with flying into play, where X is equal your life total.
    Loyalty 3

    Fugis The Ethereal 1BU
    Planeswalker - Fugis
Prevent all damage that would be dealt to Fugis The Ethereal by creatures.
[+1]: Target creature is unblockable until end of turn.
[-1]: Unil the beginning of your next turn, creatures neither deal nor receive combat damage.
[-3]: All creatures you do not control phase out.
    Loyalty 3

    Aggren, warmonger. 2RR
    Planeswalker - Aggren
[+1]: Put a 3/1 red barbarian creature token with haste into play.
[+1]: Target creature you control gains double strike until end of turn.
[-4]: Untap all creatures you control. They gain vigilance until end of turn. This turn, there are two additional combat phases followed by two additional main phases.
    Loyalty 3

  • posted a message on New (Rare) Dual Lands Confirmed for M10: But what will they be?
I've read until page 7 so I'm sorry if someone suggested these already, but how abou this:

    M10GWland:
    Land
T: Add G or W to your mana pool. Unless you control a forest or plains, M10GWland does not untap during your next untap step.

Seems relatively simple and it only hurts you if you use it's mana on the first turn when this is the land you play.

I could see it being useful if that mysterious WWUUBBRRGG cost is somehow relevant. I could also see it at FNMs for people wanting to use the WUBRG activation spells.

True, and even if it isn't tier 1 competitive, it's fun for casual play.
