I feel like we still need to resolve the Raven Man, so Lilly will live
I sooo wish you were right, but we literally saw her disintegrate in the video. There's no coming back from that, unless some time reversal is involved.
    You rang?

I’d love to see a more combat trick focused political Jeskai legend. Like a decent combat statted creature with vigilance and a tap ability that is a decently worded mashup of Maze of Ith’s/Balduvian Warlord/Portal Mage/Master Warcraft to mess with combat.

The deck could combine forced attacks with can’t attack you to force opponents to go after each other.

    Command Beacon.

It'a nice card but it costs €15 right now which i feel is more due to scarcity than the actual power of the card. I'd be happy to pick it up for like €5.

Apologies if this is the wrong forum to ask, if so please move the thread.

I line in the Netherlands and want to buy the War of the Spark ebook when it comes out. I got a kobo reader for my birthday over a year ago but other then a few ebooks i bought on Bol.com (webshop with linked kobo account that automatically puts every ebook you buy on your kobo ereader) i've never gotten an ebook from another source. The war of the spark nover can only be bought from the publisher Del Rey books in the USA.

So how do I buy an ebook from the US and get it on my ereader? Do they just sent you a file in the email? Or is there some other method? Or do you need to use an app?

Some form of Selesnya hatebears featuring Nevermore and Gideon’s Intervention can really kill some strategies.

Fog can be answered by Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir or City of Solitude.

well hey - even if MLD isn't ok, targeted land destruction could be a way to go. It's important that some lands are kept in check. If there are no lands at all that need to be put in check, you can still use it to snipe someone's single open blue mana to ensure that you can do your super important thing that you don't want countered.

on the off-chance you've not seen this, scour from existence. It's like the golem, but exiles (that opposing kruphix, god of horizons getting you down?), AND can deal with annoying lands (don't just hit random karoo-lands. if someone throws down a gaea's cradle, get it!). Also, it's an instant.

just curious - why do you have a crucible of worlds? it doesn't seem to do anything in your deck.
I agree. I don't prey on mana production but any land that produces 2 or more mana and/or has another ability is fair game.

Crucible is in the deck because when people know you play big mana everybody saves their ghost quarter or similar for your Cabal Coffers. This is a way too recur it easily.

I have a Xantcha deck posted in the multiplayer decklist forum. Check it out if you want more detail, but as a player who has been using Xantcha frequently over the past 3 months, here are some things I use as synergy.

    - I run several boardwipe effects that Xantcha dodges like Languish and Wildfire. Plus you can tune Toxic Deluge to keep her alive while wiping away small blockers. Obviously, careful of playing Wildfire if your playgroup frowns on MLD.

    - I run Pestilence and Neheb, the Eternal as a way to make absurd mana. You can turn 5 black mana into 15 (or more) red and clear a bunch of pesky creatures. Also, Mana Geyser and Black Market are great huge mana cards that are somewhat difficult for opponents to interact with.

    - You will need flexible answers to problem permanents, especially enchantments. I run Chaos Warp[/cars], Karn Liberated and Meteor Golem. The latter two are over-costed for the effect, but sometimes we really need an enchantment to die. Don’t forget to include this interactions stuff.

    - I personally run Heartstone as Xantcha synergy and because of the lore with it and Xantcha and Karn. But you also have Olivia who would benefit (she is my 1v1 commander with the same 99.

    - Augmenting Xantcha is not viable at all. You should see her as card draw first and a beatstick second. You can help her stick on the battlefield with certain lands, specifically Shizo, Death’s Storehouse and to a lesser degree Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep. In a pinch, Maze of Ith does the job, and while expensive Mystifying Maze can be used to flicker Xantcha and return her to the battlefield under another opponent’s control if you want to change who controls her.
Those are some good tips, thanks! I checked out your deck, but the MLD won't fit my group nor will all the punishment cards make them want to play against it on a regular basis so even though it's probably good I have to take the deck a slightly different direction.

Black and red are the colors I play least of all, I think literally all EDH decks I've ever had have had at least green, blue or white in them. But now I've decided that needs to change! So I decided on running Xantcha as my commander because I love the politicking that goes with it. At first I thought, looking on EDHrec, that I should go into the forcing to attack route and some cards to save Xantcha. However, I also have a set of Cabal Coffers, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Cabal Stronghold lying around so I decided to combine the classic big black mana deck strategy with Xantcha. That in itself has a lot of synergy already so the rest of the deck I want to play some black red control style like only black red can do as it will play differently from what I already have and I prefer controllish decks. And now I'm looking for input on small card combinations and or minor themes that I could add so that it will end up being a deck full of synergy that is truly black red.

About damn time she got a card. Wish she got it in a commander deck though so she could be a awesome angel tribal commander. Now she's just good.

Nice to see that the whole characters from the past thing goes beyond the commander product. As someone who has been playing for 24 years, i always appreciate nostalgia things.

    Universal fetch
    Land
Tap, pay 2 life, sacrifice universal fetch: search your library for a land that can produce one or more colors of mana in your commander’s color identity, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library.

    Eldred, Lord of Elfhame 1G
    Legendary creature - Elf Druid
At the beginning of your upkeep, you may search your library for a basic land card, reveal that card, and put it into your hand. If you do, you skip your draw step this turn and shuffle your library.
WUBRG: Draw a card, then untap two lands.

While the color combination has a less diverse palette of viable strategies, you can perfectly compensate it’s shortcomings with artifacts. There are fun Boros decks.

  • posted a message on If you were to house ban the best tutors, which would you ban?
I think you should approach this from a guideline perspective instead of a rules perspective. Banning or crippling all search effects causes a lot of collateral damage, and the next best thing is an additional ban list that as people have pointes out, is a slidings scale as well.

I think you just need to adjust the social contract in your playgroup. The main problem for you seems to be seeing the same cards over and over again due to tutors. So then agree with your playgroup that you don’t use cards with that intention, and leave the interpretation to the players. The problem is not people’s decks running consistently (due to fetches or land search and such) but people’s decks consistently having the same cards in play.

I don't mind playing infinite combo in a deck, eithe myself or my opponentd, if all pieces are just good cards on their own in the deck and they just happen to combine into something better. What i don't like to play or play against is decks that actively seek out a combo with tutors etc and that's all they do. Because that just feels like you're playing solitaire, or my opponent is.

Well those do seem better. Perhaps I'm doing the deck wrong. I mean with 2-4 opponents, that's a lot of life. Seems like Xenagos handles 2-3 opponents pretty well. It's those 5-6 player games that are of concern. Things have to go very well for you to deal around 240 damage before you die because everyone teams up against you.

Perhaps this deck is best relegated to 2-3 opponent games? Or am I just looking at this the wrong way still?

I don't know, honestly, i never play 5+'games because they tend to take too long. But i guess you do need more defense if there are more opponents because of the additional damage you need to do in order to win. I was talking 4 man games.

But regardless of the amount of players, this deck is as about offense more than any edh deck i know. Regardless of the amount of players, the more cards you detract from your main strategy (max damage output) the weaker the deck becomes.
