The problem with running him I think is that it's such an agro meta...
Tapping out for something that doesn't disrupt them or protect me seems risky.
This pretty much sums it up... It has potential for a SB slot, but with all the Humans, Illusians and Township decks running around, I don't see it viable for the MD.
What we do is enroll the spectator (and give them a dci number if they don't have one :P) and give him a match loss... from what you said you would not be getting DQ'd... And yes, you do still have the opportunity to mulligain...
@Merestill Haye:
At competitive REL, the spectator would have received a Match Loss if guilty of outside interference - likely far more than any GPE penalty.
From the original post:
"It was your duty to stop him at the first card he was playing, YOU would get a game loss for that. Not him."
This is nowhere near outside assistance... Just the spectator being a bit of a jerk and thinking he knows what he's saying (which he doesn't).
If there is cheating involved - say the OP could have stopped the starting player from casting his first spell but did not in order to see what the spell was - then the player involved is disqualified.
What you describe is Fraud and this is why I said
When you've said "you've just given me extra information" that starts ringing warning bells though, I'd probably pull you aside and have a chat...
At competitive level all an observer can do is tell you guys to stop the game
and call for a judge... In this situation I wouldn't be penalising either palyer... No-one's really done anything wrong (the most it could be would be a GPE-Game Rule Violation, coz he played cards when he wasn't meant to)... This feels just like a miss-communication problem... When you've said "you've just given me extra information" that starts ringing warning bells though, I'd probably pull you aside and have a chat... If I were in your position I would try and catch my opponent as he played the first card...
wow... This is a bit all over the place... I reckon we're solidly in UWR splashing for the black tapper? in any case I think the pick here is between Unblinking Bleb and Sarcomite Myr... I'd probably go for the Bleb
4 Daybreak Ranger is waaaaaaaaaay too many... Around the time of GP Brisbane last year this style of deck was popular and I played a few games with it (2 Rangers) and always thought that was too many... So I would consider cutting 2 and making them Snapcaster Mages (yes, I know right?), that card's just better... Caravan Vigel doesn't seem very good here... I would cut them and 1 Dissipate in fovour of the set of Mana Leaks...
hmmmmmmm so yeah... you wanna but 3 different cards... I actually don't think that Altar's Reap is very good in the match-up so i would cut 2 of those and maybe a Typhoid Rats. I'd actually also like to bring in the Doom Blades and GftTs too... So maybe cut the Mulches, a Bonehoard and a Splinterfright... So yeah... that's sorta what I mean by cutting bits and pieces
There's a group of usually 10 or so minimum at the tournaments every month, but if it were a major event we'd get 30 easy... there are alot of players, they just don't go out (I'm in Sydney btw)... for me, MTG is all about doing really unfair things and legacy for me is that whether that's casting Ad Nauseum or having a counter/top engine or dredging 3 Golgari Grave-Trolls on the 2nd turn (and much, much more)...
I play LEGACY! Is an infinately better format in my opinion... However, in your circumstances i would suggest getting into Modern... Which is fine.. I mean the format's good, but not a good as legacy...
