You're forgetting that Path to Exile, Terminate, Oblivion Ring and Maelstrom Pulse are all leaving Standard. It will be much more difficult to deal with the dragon than you think, especially since we will most likely be able to play it before turn 6 with ramp, mox and any unrevealed-as-of-yet artifact synergy cards. This card could potentially see play in some sort of green (ramp) or blue (permission) deck as a 1 or 2 of, as finishers. If people are so scared of removal, they could leave it in the sideboard and bring it in against an unsuspecting opponent who doesn't play removal or who sided it out (maybe against some sort of post-rotation white based token deck featuring Elspeth 2.0 or something - boom, you're tokens are gone fool).
Also, is it just me, but an artifact dragon with a pseudo one-sided Pernicious Deed affect it just a freaking awesome card?
Thanks for your help guys, I send Tha Gunslinga a PM inquiring about the price of the card. I will also look into the website that was suggested to me.
A couple of days ago I acquired a 8th edition FOIL Ivory Mask that is misprinted. The left side borders are rectangle instead of rounded and the card is NM condition. Does this card hold any value beyond the 3.99$ pricetag from SCG?
This deck needs Tarmogoyfs. Also, I'd consider replacing Unified Will with Negates since most of the stuff you want to counter is non-creature anyways. Finally, how bout Mul Daya Chanelers instead of the Gargantuan? You could add some add'l fetches for its ability.
Well let me tell you, this matchup is extremely hard for us. Out of 8 rounds in Saturdays PTQ, I faced 6 U/W tapout and it was torture - even with 4 Negates/4 Dauntless Escort in the board. Since U/W will probably shift towards U/W/R Planeswalkers, I think adding a couple of Pithing Needles against them will be key since it can name all 4 walkers and Celestial Colonnade.
That and a mirror was all I lost to. What do you do in the mirror?
Pretty easy. Bant doesn't pack removal so if you have Linvala out, half their creatures become useless. Other than that, a few Mind Controls in the SB is a pretty good and standard solution to the mirror. Personally, my build is a little heavy on Planeswalkers (6 of them and 3 Jace 2) so Jace can really hamper them by bouncing their bombs every turn forcing them to waste another turn recasting them which lets you advance your board and win... hopefully.
Has anyone tried Linvala, Keeper of Silence as a potential card against Naya and the Mirror? Shutting down opposing Sparkmages, Nobles and Knights seems pretty good.
Not only does it seem good, I believe it is a necessity in the mainboard. I play two main and will never regret it - you forget also Putrid Leech and Siege-Gang commander in Jund. It can't be bolted which mean Jund needs to waste a terminate/Maelstrom Pulse to stop it which means one less of those for you BSA...
As for the sideboard, I'm kinda undecided also, however, I think you absolutely need 4 X Dauntless Escort in them for the popular UW Control (especially Tap-Out). 4 of them is not too much since you can side out 4 Rhox War Monk for them - fits perfectly. Also, Sparkmage can single handedly destroy your whole deck and Linvalas are not enough, I believe 2-3 Harm's Way in the board is good for matchups where the opponent sides in 4 Sparkmages against you (BTW, Jund seems to be packing 4 of them in their board now...). Another tip, if Polymorph/Summoning Trap decks become popular, replacing Bant Charms with O-Rings seems like the best move since they can deal with Emrakul unlike Bant Charm - they are also good against UW Planeswalkers. Finally, I just wanted to add that I am running 6 Planeswalkers in the MB (3 Jace2, 1 Garruk, 1 Elspeth, 1 Gideon). Having that many provides threat diversity and you get to attack your opponent from multiple angles which is just awesome. Also, someone told me that turn 3 Jace, the Mindsculptor is pretty good?
Realms Uncharted, Momentous Fall and Gideon Jura are all going to be pricey cards, and only one of them is a Mythic. Give the rest of the set time to develop - I agree that it looks bad so far.
I'm completely aware of these cards. However, if this is the best the set has to offer, I will be pretty damn disappointed. Momentous Fall is good but I don't really see it's price skyrocketing (maybe 6-10$ max, then 4-5$). As for Realms Uncharted, I simply love it, but it is the only card I really like in the set and it will not really be worth that much (10-12$ at launch, price could increase if someone finds a good use for it, if not, it will fall to the 5-6$ range).
I think we were too spoiled with the amazing-ness that was M10 and Zendikar. RoE is starting to look like another of those crap sets like Conflux and Worldwake were.
Yay, more garbage rares. Honestly, I hope they'll spoil some money rares soon (if there are any) because this set is starting to look really bad for Constructed. Right now, I'm not too tempted to buy this product since you'll never get your money's worth when buying boosters.
I have a question, why isn't anyone playing Searing Blaze? (Sorry, if this was already answered but I didn't feel like reading through 20 pages of posts - also, the new subforums system would be great in DC). Anyway, I understand that it is bad against Control but it rocks against everything else. Give me your opinions!
Here is my list, if you're trying to go aggro with that list, I would definitely add the Pedes, cut the BBEs and add +4 fetch. Ancient Ziggurat helps immensely, however, it will be hard to get the forest activation for Loam Lion. Hence, cut the Loam Lions for Elite Vanguards (As sad as that makes me, it seems like the logical choice to make - Lion is simply not good in STD, it needs shock lands).
This deck is pretty sick. I've run it a couple of times to great effect. It has a strong discard sub-theme, mixed with awesome card draw and quality threats. I understand that it can be a little expensive for some people, but I believe this build is truly competitive and has a lot of potential. This is the exact list that I will be running in two weeks at the 1K Champs in Montreal.
