I think Jhoira is gathering the descendants/ distance relatives of the Weatherlight crew to counter Belzenlok's attempt to ape history. Who better to figt someone trying to rewrite the past than the legacy of the heroes of the past.

As a card i like it, nice art neat ability...

From a lore perspective... how is she a capashen paragon when the entire clan except gerrard was wiped out when the bloodlines project was discovered, which is why gerrard was sent to jamuuraa and raised with vuel, later volrath, and gerrard died during the events of apocalypse without any heirs since his love, hanna, ALSO died...
Well they can play the "not all Capashens died in the purge, time travel shenanigans, or some one took the name Capashen to honor Gerrard.

I like the Karn mat overall except for one tiny detail. Maybe its the quality of the pictures but it looks like he is wearing cowboy boots. Now all I think is Cowboy Karn, yee-haw!!!

(I'll probably still buy it.) Wink

Solid second chapter. The end felt a bit rushed/fast (as was the case with the first story), but I guess that's how it's going to be with the time and space restrictions placed on the author. I don't really mind as long as the rest is alright.

Also, I've already posted this in the Rumor Mill, but one more time for this thread:

I've been wondering about the Opt art since the Spanish promos were spoiled. Could it be that Teferi's planeswalker version is actually going to be "old him"? Maybe he'll have to choose (or rather, opt) whether he wants to stay eternally young or get his spark back, but age?

Why would you choose NOT to look like Eddie Murphy?

Seriously though, this sounds feasible. It'll be interesting to hear how Jhoira makes it happen. She's rad.
Had a though that much like Ksrn, the Weatherlight contained a Spark after the Legacy was completed(Karn receiving Urza's and the ship inheriting Glacian's spark preserved in the Might and Weak Stones.)

    Again great story.

I am beginning to get worried the Raven Man is Bolas. That would be dissapointing. I wanted him to be a new character or LimDul or even just a subconsious projection of Lily herself. It seems anticlimactic to me for it to just be "another" Bolas maachination. Please dont be him......but there is already some foreshadowing hints and usually WOTC is obvious with these "twists" and it seems to be playing out.
Timeline doesn't let Bolas be the Raven Man. Lillina sparked in the 4300s, when Bolas was a ghost trapped in the Madaran Rift, only able to project as a phantom in Madara near the Talo Gates.

I also admit I find the Cabal a poor choice of villain.

At the end of Apocalypse, we had the crescendo of a 9,000 year conflict centered around one man (Yawgmoth) and his rise to God of Machine Hell. Every set with any semblance of continuity plot revolved around this.

The next set was meant to be a post-apocalyptic scale-back. After the drama and climax, we go to a backwater part of a post-disaster Dominaria, where a less-than-world-dominating villain (the Cabal) is trying to gather power, and a hero (Kamahl) rises.

Now, hundreds of years later, we return to a world filled with Legends from the big-picture story leading up to the Invasion, and the entire ENORMOUS plane of Dominaria is apparently conquered by...that same backwater Otarian Cabal? This would be like if the villains of Mad Max: Fury Road gained worldwide power versus local warlord status. I do not like it.

Belzenlok is a new villain, and having him take possession of THE Stronghold in THE Urborg where THE Yawgmoth's corpse lies, conquering THE Benalia and wielding THE Blackblade...come on now, lets not use the lore of our childhood to make yet another replaceable demon into the god of darkness.
It's not really the same Cabal, just Belzenlok taking the name and some of its tactics( the dementia magic) as he seems intent on replacing figures from myth and history with himself.

Just wento to Dominaria Story page and there's 12 Chapters???
Yeah and we get one today(Thrusday 3/22) but it only seems like alot because we only have the one set. Amonket and Ixalan block had about the same number between their two sets.

I predict we'll meet up with Weatherlight II early on since they'll need a means of conveyance. Plus when going up against a evil organization, having some backup would be nice.

I thought Jace planeswalked onto Weatherlight already, given he aimed for something traveling extremely fast and he's standing in the slime left by Slimefoot, the Stowaway when he boarded that vehicle and sees Gideon and Jaya.
I think someone said that Jace arrives near the end of the story. He was on Ixalan for a few months.

Any hint of what the new Serran/Benalish combo is going to be like, as far as temperament? I'm trying to remember the angels of Serra's plane. I know Radiant went off, managed to kind-of kill Urza, and was war-like. But I don't think all the angels were like that. And Benalia was about honor, chivalry, knights, and all that, as far as I recall. So are they the 'good guys,' through and through?

As far as Teferi being considered a hero of Dominaria, I can't speak for the Planar Chaos and Future Sight books (which were the two out of the three NOT in ebook form for whatever reason) as to what Teferi did after he lost his spark, but it's probably safe to assume that of all the characters still alive, who have as much experience and power, and who care about the average person more than the average Planeswalker used to, Teferi is best placed to be a savior figure for Dominaria. How he achieves this, I guess we don't know yet.

Question: if there are Bolas themes for Dominaria, does that imply the visions Jace had of Bolas' plans for Ravnica may have been false? In my mind, to an ancient dragon, Dominaria may be more important that Ravnica.

Also, I am still unconvinced that any Weatherlight in this set is the original Weatherlight. The Apocalypse book was unambiguous that Sisay rode the dead ship into the ocean after Yawgmoth was defeated, it cracked and broke, and it sank into the ocean. "The impact had split the keel." " . . . ocean poured into the wide open hull." "Explosions below . . ." "She swam out of the wreckage . . ." "The broken hull of Weatherlight sank furiously." "Then it's outline . . . disappeared forever. There would never be another ship like Weatherlight."

It is unequivocal that the ship is wrecked, destroyed, and sunk. So it can't be the old Weatherlight come back. If it is, 1) the story is going to be outlandish. We dove down, used merfolk, pulled up the debris, hammered it together, Multani kissed it, and it was all better? What? 2) Wizards would be resurrecting something from a heroic and fitting end just for nostalgia sales and story. If you read the books that involved Weatherlight, then you have an inkling that it went down as heroic as an 'inanimate' object could be. I would howl just as much if Gerrard or Barrin or Urza were ressurected! Let the dead rest!

Rant over. I am eager to see what the story will tell us! I'm all aboard the hype train, for now.
I figure Benalia and the Serran Religion would mesh fairly well.

Teferi was the guy who went into that first rift, sealing it without knowing if he'd come back. And after, I believe he said he'd go traveling, perhaps becoquino a court mage again. And maybe his title, "Hero of Dominaria" is something he gets in this story.

Bolas' connection to the main story on Dominaria may only be to bring Lilliana fully into his service. I think he want something connected to Ravnica, and while he probably would want to reclaim Madara at least, he's more about regaining his power than past glories.

I hope the Weatherlight II is a new ship. Perhaps Multani gifts Jhoira a weathersead to make the new ship.

Anyone have a clue how long Jace was on Ixalan? I seem to recall he spent a few weeks( at least two) on Useless Island and a few days at ses before Vraska stumbled upon him. And few weeks from then to find the Sun. So my count is somewhere between one and a half to three months.

Tetsuko is indeed a female name under traditional Japanese naming rules. 3-mora name ending in -ko is >99% chance female. (I literally cannot think of an exception.)

Where did she come from, though? She would have to be a descendant of Tetsuo, who was a descendant of Toshiro, no? This points more and more to the fact that she is a fugitive from Nicol Bolas. I'm guessing that she was 'on ice' somewhere in the Meditation Realm and somehow got out.

I mean, people more knowledgeable of the history than I please inform me, because AFAIK Legends (and Tetsuo) was WAY too far in the past for there to be a direct link, no?
After Bolas's resurrection, he went on a hunt to wipe out the bloodline of the man who 'killed' him, as well as the being who sent the first Umezawa to Dominaria.

She( I agree that Tetsuko is a female name) is most likely a Fugitive from Bolas and his minions, thought given her great-ancestor, she could be a regular fugitive, running from the Cabal or Serra Order

Just realized, Bolas thinks Azor a golden statue now, assuming that he belived Vraska's false memoeries. So from his prepective, two of his greatest enimies( Ugin and Azor) are no longer an issue. Will be interesting if Jace somehow orchestrates Azor's re-sparking and has him and Ugin as Aces in the hole.
