  • posted a message on [New Info] M15 Prerelease Numbers
WotC hasn't cut the number of Prerelease Packs a WPN location is getting. They are "just" cutting the number you get with free price support. You can still order more if you want but you will then have to pay for the price support (not optional).

Basically, WPN location will get the same number of product but will have to pay more for it.

Our shop is only getting 5 but we live in a small town so the store owner is doing a raffle 150 for the 5 that get lucky my fingers are crossed!!!

I'm pretty sure that's not true. Core get 10, Advanced get 20. There was nowhere any mention of ANY shop getting only 5.

There is, afaik, exactly one store in Switzerland that sells FTV. Do you know when they put it up for preorder? When ALL the cards in it are known. Getting it from eBay also isn't really an option, since almost all of the sellers only ship to the US. So, tell me, how could I have gotten one for msrp in february?

As an Advanced store owner in Switzerland, I can assure you that:

    1) There are more than one store selling FtV in Switzerland (Zürich, Basel, Bern x3, Fribourg to name a few)

    2) Some will do preorder without all cards being known (Bern and Fribourg I know of).

I don't know where you live but send me a PM and I will point you to the different stores in Switzerland with a Core or Advanced Level....

    Quote from Hammerhiem
My shop got a price from their suppliers (and there IS only 1 in the UK) about 3 weeks ago, they are selling them to the general public at £6.20. Most are already presold and what's left is being held for prizes for our in store monthly Modern FNM.

    I'm getting a box for £150/$230

Shops can get their products from every distributor in Europe. They don't have to buy them from the UK Distributor only.

They could have ordered from more than one distributor as well (France, Germany, Belgium, etc) to get more products...

Why is everyone playing Doj instead of Divine Reckoning?

The way I see it, you can save your Sun titan with DR and remove their lone creature with lili afterwards. It cost the same as DoJ so there is no drawback there... and you can flash it back in the late game if you need it (or if you milled it there).

    So why DoJ?

Why not use preordain over brainstorm? You dig as deep (3 cards max if you don't need the first two) and you actually get some cards you don't need out of the way (something brainstorm doesn't do).

If you don't have a fetch ready, I think preordain could be better.

I'm trying to get a reanimator deck together and was wondering why no one is playing personal tutor. It's slower than the other tutor (and only gets sorceries), yes but it still allow you to got get your reanimation stuff right?

This art is not the planeswalker art. It's for a "support card" (some burn spell) and was designed live in gothenburg.

It's part of a larger picture.

Still nice to know she (and I assume all other pws) will be back in 2012!

I think WotC is doing a cool thing in a very bad situation they have absolutely no control over.

Lowering the entry fee and giving out prices you can resell easily is a very nice solution

If anyone doesn't want their IPAD... I'll be there and I'd love to trade (or buy, depending on the price)!

  • posted a message on [SoM] "Affiliated" Decks Additional Information
I'm creating a thread for this info to make it easier to find...

    Found on the mothership (here):

In Wizards of the Coast's continuing global efforts to build strong Magic player communities in hobby stores and offer great gaming experiences, we are pleased to announce the following changes to Magic Game Day:
    • Scars of Mirrodin Game Day (October 30-31) features special rules allowing players to align their Standard decks with one of the factions featured in the set. Players that align their decks are eligible to win exclusive preview cards from the February 2011 Magic set, Mirrodin Besieged! This change is part of a marketing campaign that will kick off in September, themed around the factions presented in the Scars of Mirrodin block. For more information on Game Day, check out www.magicthegathering.com.
    • To make Magic Game Day accessible to even more players, Game Day will become a Core-level benefit in the Wizards Play Network (WPN). This change will take effect with Scars of Mirrodin Game Day, which begins scheduling on August 12th, 2010. WPN Core-level locations will be able to schedule one Game Day and Advanced-level locations can schedule two. For details on the WPN and its levels, see www.wizards.com/wpn.
WPN Advanced-level locations will also get access to the following new benefits:
    • An Advanced Support Kit starting with Scars of Mirrodin. These kits are identical to a Gateway Support Kit, but with ten additional exclusive prize cards.
    • The most active Advanced locations will have the opportunity to run WPN Premium Tournaments. This ongoing benefit recognizes the biggest and best-run tournament circuits that our Advanced locations run, giving them enhanced K-values and calling them out on our online Event Locator!
How is the Scars of Mirrodin Game Day going to work?
Magic Game Days will take advantage of the new settings and mechanics in the latest set. For Scars of Mirrodin Game Day, players can build a Standard deck that affiliates with one of the two factions in Scars of Mirrodin. (While having an affiliated deck is not required for Game Day, it will add a unique and significant element of excitement to the tournament.) The top 2 finishers affiliated with each faction receive a preview card from the February 2011 Magic set, Mirrodin Besieged! This is in addition to any top 8 prize cards they might win for their overall event finish.

What does it mean to "affiliate" your Standard deck?
All cards in Scars of Mirrodin are affiliated with one of the two factions in the set. An affiliated deck must have at least ten main-deck cards from the chosen faction, and none in the main deck or sideboard from the opposing faction. The deck must still be Standard legal.

As far as I know, It's 3 free deck per B&M Shop with Advanced TO status and that's it. I do not think shops will be able to buy more (they said something about this vs deck being extremely limited).

I actually like the art. It's different and even if they are better mangakas around... Still pretty cool

Would Leyline of the Void stop a legendary Eldrazi's effect from triggering? Even if it didn't, it would help in reducing what the Eldrazi could even get back in the first place.

It would work quite well actually... creating a black blue mill deck with the leyline is kind of interesting Smile
