I'm wondering where does everyone go to find out where they have these big tournament events listed? I can find a few here and there but, there normally not ones people are always talking about, as they might not be the newest event to have happened for example the one that just happened on the 13th in Kentucky.
Playing 5CC with a Baneslayer facing down a Cloudthresher. I have a Volcanic Fallout in hand, but no double red. I draw for turn and see Cascade Bluffs.
I declare my Baneslayer attacking, deal first strike damage, go to cast my fallout and see the bluffs still sitting in my hand. doh!
Playing 5CC, I was dead to board with an empty hand. I desperately needed Wrath of God. I untapped and drew...Esper Charm. I only have 2 sources of white. I'm dead anyway, so I cast Esper Charm to draw 2. First card was Wrath of God. Pulled off the second card...white source. Wipe board, go on to win.
I don't really understand why they would make this change and then not encourage players to actually have an emblem by printing them. If player's aren't using some physical representation, then we've really solved nothing.
Damage off the stack does make the game less complicated. That is a fact. That is not debateble.
I still love the game and I am not going to say that damage off the stack has riuned magic. But there is no doubt that it has made it less complex.
It's actually quite debatable...lots of that going on right here. I agree with the posters above who point out that with damage on the stack, there is always only one play. Without damage on the stack, when blocking with a creature that has a "trick" you have to decide whether it's better to make a trade or take the block and trick.
I dislike when people attack, see that one of my creatures has deathtouch or first strike, and then untap and say "Sorry didn't know he had that.". Well you already attack and I already assigned blockers and techniclly I killed your creature.
Also I don't like when people play Pact of Negation, then forget to pay the five during there upkeep and then do it on their main phase. They should of lost the game. I don't know why, but it just pisses me off.
Do you play in a very relaxed casual group? Neither of those things should happen in a sanctioned event.
I gotcha. I don't really understand how people are getting 2-3 foil bolts in one session, though. I couldn't really go to more events if I tried. I went to every PTQ within 2 hours, and missed like 1 FNM.
We have 3 sanctioned events per week. I play at least 2 of those every week. Add in PTQs, etc and I'm running about 1.5 foil per shipment. The guys who consistently play all 3 are doing slightly more.
The site is updating fine; every Wednesday, as always. I play at two different stores and all events are registering correctly. I'd suggest going to events and searching for events in your area. It should show the status of them. I would bet that there is an issue with the TO's reporting.
Hmm. Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll ask my TO about it then then. He's always been very good with reporting results as it normally always gets updated the Wednesday after that FNM.
He may not be aware there is an issue. We had a problem with a past TO where the email on file wasn't correct, so he wasn't getting the notices that he needed to fix a tournament report. One of the players saw on the DCI site that the events were rejected and pending his update and brought it to his attention. You should check the site before you talk to him so you know how to approach the conversation.
All of my events have been processed. Click on My Events, leave everything blank and click Find. That will show you all of the events you've been reported as attending and the status. It sounds like either the events aren't getting reported, there are issues with the report that aren't being fixed or your DCI isn't reported as attending.
Not going to link the auction, but there were buyitnows for full art foil jaces at 30 $ few days ago, was it one of those ?
If it was, tell your buddy to hold off paying and return the item (and while at it, report the seller). Those things aren't Jaces, seller claims they're authentic Magic cards, so it's probably just full-art Jace printed on a cleaned foil.
Unless I missed something, like wizzards printing 500k of those during the weekend.
Yeah, those auctions are seriously fishy. He also has a feedback (positive for some reason) that says he returned it to the seller because it wasn't what he thought it was.
Lots and lots of RUG Control.
I personally think UW is a better deck and has a better shot at beating a field full of RUG (not that it's a good matchup by any means).
No clue on the grinder schedule. I won't be rolling into town until later Friday night.

Set the date range for the events you're missing and enter the city or zip, etc (only enter one search criteria).
That should answer some questions, like whether he didn't register, didn't report, or that there was a problem with the report.

I did tie 5 times in a row on a d20 once, though. That was insane.
This is the one I was talking about. It appears there are a couple seller IDs involved here.

EDIT: Ah, I see what you'er talking about. The feedback was left the same day as closing. It still sets off alarms for me.

Not for me, unfortunately. It's become quite popular here.
