I went back and forth on the Wastes route with Extraplanar Lens, but agreed with Goblin Screwdriver that you need to cut too many good lands for it to be worth it. However, I'd say if you were running a budget build with them, perhaps Walker of the Wastes wouldn't be a bad pick up for you.
As for Scour from Existence, I like it. My playgroup tends to play a lot of Gods as commanders and having an instant speed removal for them in colorless is great.

Feb 10, 2016Been following along with this thread for a while and have my own Kozilek deck as well. Just a question, I was fortunate enough to get a full set of Swords (Sword of Fire and Ice and the like) over the weekend. Was thinking they could make an appearance in this deck, but really am unsure if they make sense. Was hoping to get some other thoughts on the idea. Thanks!Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Jan 21, 2016I've been begging myself to build a Vhati deck. Really enjoy reading through this. I see you have Back Sun's Zenith but what about Green Sun's Zenith in there? It can tutor Melira on T3 if needed or pick up other needs.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Jan 6, 2016I like it. Seems like it could be a lot of fun. Have you thought adding any proliferation effects? Inexorable Table could get Kangee's counters up awfully quickly. Contagion Engine or Contagion Clasp could help as well.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Jan 6, 2016I'll vote Vhati il-Dal for a couple of reasons. I like the card and have always wanted to build a deck with him at the helm, but never had the chance. It's got some purple flavor on its art. But, also, if you buy the Timeshift version, even the set icon is purple.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Jan 5, 2016Been following this thread for a while and recently built a colorless deck (been switching commanders from Kozilek to Ulamog 2.0 for testing purposes) and I'm enjoying it. OotG has really perked me up and I think Kozi 2.0 will end up being my new commander. Urza's Incubator has been a nice card for me, but I likely run a few more Eldrazi than your list. Another card I recently included and quite enjoy is [/c]Psychosis Crawler[/c]. It can certainly be a dead drop if you're out of cards, but it isn't too bad to have in play and drop Kozilek.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
As for the Wastes, I'm pondering switching to Waste cards (my land base isn't anything special) to utilize Extraplanar Lens and maybe Walker of the Wastes could find a spot.
I also like Spacial Contortion as another removal choice. It can get rid of Gaddock Teeg at instant speed to allow you to dump any cards you may need/want on your next turn.
Thanks for the deck ideas, really helped me put the deck into action.
Jan 3, 2016Agent of Bolas posted a message on Artifact Creatures (or red) with fun abilites, and combat capabilitySo, not positive on if you have these in the list, but this is what I've been looking at in my Kurkesh build I've been toying with.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Prototype Portal: Does require exiling a card, but putting two copies a turn of any one artifact could be nice.
Magistrate's Scepter: Always loved this card and had a charge counter blue deck back in the day. With some help from cards like Coretapper, you could almost go infinite turns.
Hangarback Walker: Not all that great, but a sac outlet down the road and it could net you some Thopters.
Kuldotha Forgemaster: Speaking of tokens, this guy would love to sac three of them and get you two cards.
Myr Welder: Recurring your activated abilities from your graveyard could be nice.
I like the deck idea, it seems like it could be a lot of fun.
Dec 26, 2015Recently decided to give a shot at a Super Friends deck. I like the no creature idea, but decided to switch it up slightly. I've already added two "creatures" and would like opinions on others. What are the thoughts on Gods? The likelihood they'll become creatures are generally slim, but if they do, they have to be dealt with accordingly. Here's where I stand so far:Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Ephara, God of the Polis | With our commander out, this essentially means 2: Put a 1/1 in play, draw a card, for every turn.
Erebos, God of the Dead | Again with card advantage.
Keranos, God of Storms | With no creatures (aside from maybe these gods) you'll either draw an additional card or bolt someone or something.
Kruphix, God of Horizons | With artifacts and cards like Ugin, the Spirit Dragon and Karn Liberated, you could ramp into these easier.
Mogis, God of Slaughter | An attempt to slow the creature flow of opponents. Lower casting cost as well.
Pharika, God of Affliction | Opportunity to make a deathtouch creature. Kind of on the fence with this one though.
Thassa, God of the Sea | Cheap and chance to scry each turn. I like it.
Thoughts? I can't imagine putting all of these in, but 3-4 gods could certainly help. Thanks for reading.
Nov 18, 2015Tried to search, but couldn't really find what I was looking for. Let's say I have Ezuri, Claw of Progress in play and decide to cast an Endless One with X being 3 (or 30). Will I get the experience counter? It was my understanding that both ETB effects go on the stack and I get to choose the order, giving myself the XP counter and then the counters on the creature. However, now I'm doubting myself. Thanks in advance.Posted in: Magic Rulings Archives
Nov 16, 2015I've been pondering building one of these myself. Couple of cards I thought of include Sage of Hours for unlimited turns. Also Vorel of the Hull Clade can double counters as well.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists

Okay, cool. Is this budget then?
Even if it is, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx would be a great investment. TCGplayer has em at 3$ on the low end of quality, but the card adds a lot to your deck. To any devotion deck really.
I have an extra Shrine kicking around actually, just forgot to add it to the list. Thanks.

Haha. Buffs up the defense of all my guys. And he's fairly inexpensive. Oh, and different too. I like that.
Sep 29, 2015So, sitting around tonight I came up with what I thought was an ingenious idea (and will likely be told it's not shortly) for a new deck. The idea is to have a Green devotion, but utilize a tri-color deck with Jacques le Vert as my commander. I'm sure I can improve this in time, but this is the basic design I have thus far. I don't want to spend too much on this deck and most of what you see I already own. Also, as you can probably see, the deck is not complete and needs probably about 9 more spells. I expect more search spells would be helpful, but this is what I've got so far. Anyway, here's the deck, so far.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Sep 28, 2015Quite intrigued by this deck idea and may start to build one. I think I saw Herald of Anafenza mentioned, but what about the other outlast cards?Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Abzan Battle Priest
Give your killer lands some better options like first strike, lifelink, and even flying.

Oct 28, 2014Man, -spooky- I always enjoy your articles and use them as a baseline to build new decks. Never like to use exact deck lists because it's always nice to have your own idea, but it's always an enjoyment to read. Budget decks that are solid and fun are what keep me playing MTG after 15+ years. If I can spend $20 on a deck that will hold its own against my friends' $100 decks, I'm have a great time. Keep it up, can't wait for the next article.Posted in: Articles
