My impresions from the picture: maybe its a "blind" tutor, maybe you name a card type, reveal cards from the top until you nail that kind of card, put it in your hand and the rest in the graveyard/bottom/removed. Or maybe "name" the card and reveal from the top.

The booster was in Spanish, the card obviously in English, so they can appear in any kind of Zen boosters.

So turn 1: play Magosi, the Waterveil
It enters the battlefield tapped. Use its untap ability to place an eon counter on it. tap for a blue... maybe thats useful but... whatever

tap, remove the eon counter return back to your hand, take another turn after this one.

repeat until you have god hand.

    proceed to play game.

    Am i reading this wrong?

Probably, because the "UT" is "pay 1 blue (U) mana" and tap

    @Mr.Edd

Thanks. I think I finally got it. Wow what a confusingly worded card. I guess it might've been easier to understand if I was around for Storm (never played it). I had taken a 10 year break from MTG so I missed out on that set.

    No problem.

So let me get this straight, you effectively will always counter 1 spell (maybe 2+ with cascade) BUT you may get to cast it for free as long as 3 spells have already been played.

Now. Did I get it right this time?? LOL Slant

Yes, its like storm, it doesnt matter when those spells where played/resolved as long as its the same turn. If an opponen has played 3 spells this turn, until the end of that turn you can play this card for 0.

And remember, its not ANY spell, just the ones played by your opponents.

Example: he cast a creature and resolves... thats 1 spell, then he plays a giant growth in one of his attackers (this is the 2nd spell played by him) but you counter it with cancel (this one does NOT count, maybe for storm but not for Mindbreak Trap), then in his second main he cast another creature (being the 3rd spell played by him this turn) you may use now Mindbreak trap in it (or not)

Lets say you dont cast Mindbreak Trap, then he cast another creature, you can still play mindbreak trap for free because the 3 spells cuota has already been fulfilled.

As long as 3 spells have been played by an opp in the same turn, you can cast this for free in the same turn, doent have to be the 3rd spell though... you can wait for the 4th, 5th, 6th, any other that turn.

Really? No one ever counters Orim's Chant where you come from? No one bounces/breaks the Isochron Scepter you imprinted it on? Extended Storm hasn't had access to Chant for the last year. And isn't Vintage Storm supposed to be a Turn 1 kill? I'd rather run Mindbreak Trap to kill the Storm, and Force of Will... or another Mindbreak... to kill their Pact.

All together now: "Cryptic Command and Remand would like a word with you." If you seriously think it's "unplayable" at a 4 CMC, you really need to re-evaluate how you rate cards.

No. Read some Vintage articles and you will see why... storm decks like TPS are not about speed, are about sculpting a perfect hand/turn to win, and this could take several turns to accomplish (of course, you have to try to do it as fast as you can to avoid hate or at least avoid facing too muchof it)

Mindbreak Trap is going to be a supplement card, as remplacing Misdirection/Fact or Fiction probably. But its not going to be played as a 4-of in every deck.

People seems to forget that this card can be countered too, and its not like having this only card in the hand is gg.

Right now Storm strategies in vintage see little play, why?, they require a really good player to excel and are very punishing for mistakes, so they play Time Vault.dec or Null Rod. dec or other stuff that are still very powerful and less punishing.

Stax decks are on the rise too, and this does nothing against them, even Ichorid sees more play that TPS and other storm decks, and this card also does nothing against it, or against fish, etc. And dedicate 4 SB slots to this in a non-storm meta is bad... and well, there is no such thing as a storm meta anymore. (for now)

The card is good, but not as GG good. Its a good tool for the right enviroment, not an auto 4-of in every situation.

But isnt Yawgmoth alive (at least its essence?), he was summoned by Karona (or at least, the thing she summoned called himself Yawgmoth).

I would love to see Yawgmoth again (maybe he could snatch the spark of a planeswalker that was just passing by and finally obtaining what he wanted). I want to see the bad guy win!.

Lol'd, In europe when T2 was Odissey and Onslaught fetch was 10-12$
After rotation and first of shockland they lost something, but never and say NEVER seen deltas at 6$.

I remember buying my foil deltas at 20$ and regulars at 8.

This fetches wont be as expensive as the originals once the prices settle down.

I agree, this card alone will make Storm players more cautious. However they CANNOT always have an answer in their hands. I have played numerous games against Storm players where they did not have an Orim's Chant or a Duress when they went off. I know because they had an empty hand aside from their Ad Nauseam when they played the Ad Nauseam, and thus every card they had in their hand afterwards, I saw!

The same logic can be applied here, you will not have this card ALL the time in your hand.

And about null rod, its the same, saying that null rod can be bounced its like saying this card can be discarded/countered.

Or maybe run 2 tendrils?, and just bait you into 1 and kill you off a second?, AddNauseam decks run severan tendrils already + full sets of duress and Thoughtseize and even pact of negation.

Also, this is only good when your opponent goes first... its really difficult to cast it for free when you are in the offense.

Actually no, revise the math (unless you path one of your guys).

Or thoughtseize, yeah, you're very right.

Or just counter the damn thing too....

The idea behind using this in decks that can't hard cast it, is that you use it in response to someone either cascading off 3 spells, or storming off 3+ spells that way you can remove all copies of the spells FOR FREE!!!

Ehhh... but someone storming form 3+ spells dont play it in a row for you to counter them all, so you are limited to wait for something relevant to come online or to the very end to counter the storm+spell per se, and thats when you are most vulnerable, they can easily assemble 10+ spells while tutoring for some protection against this... and remember, this is only IF you have this in your hand.

What about those decks that get hosed just as badly by Trinisphere as combo decks, thus can't play it? The other combo breaker that see's play is Orim's Chant, but that requires white mana investment that not every deck has available to them. The benefit of this card is that it's alternative casting cost allows EVERY deck to play it, regardless of color investments.

Ehhh. white decks have most eficient things that stop combo that orims chant, namely Ethersworn Canonist, Teeg, Null Rod, and more, this cards are not only relevant against Storm decks but also tons of other decks.... why remplacing them with a narrow card? and what are you going to do, orims chant every time they try to duress you?

Yes, but when played in decks that don't normally have instant speed answers to ANT, how often do you expect them to be Orim's Chanting the opponent... or even Duressing to make sure that there is no Instant Speed Answer. I personally think this is a great card for decks such as the Mono-Black Aggro Archetype Grin

Simply put, in Legacy. For the decks that don't normally have proactive answers to Storm Combo for one reason or another this card will be an excellent sideboard tool.

And not every deck can use this too, if you are not able to hardcast it you are trapped with a dead card in hand that could be something that actually helps you to win the game.... and still, they can play duress, thoughtseize, FoW, mana drain, etc.

Each and every time that a card that works against storm/combo decks has come out people overreacts and predicts that they will be destroyed by it and its the end of storm/combo decks... and nowadays storm/combo still exists...

I still believe that the ONLY card that actually represents an unfair and very difficult to answear treat to combo is Trinisphere. (because you may have the hate for it in hand... but it wont let you play it)

This is a narrow solution to storm decks thats not worthy of being maindecked, and for SB there are better options that even non-blue decks can play and are not narrow as this one. (nullrod, leyline... and so on... i have mentioned them so many times....)

This is the new wording of "counter target spell" ? " exile target spell?

No, one thing is counter, other exile.

This spell is not countering, this spell is removing the spells from the stack preventing them from resolving... but still, not countering them.
