Also like the Giltspire for its anti-BB angle - even if it hits, it gets destroyed. In fact, even the esperoza/Sanctum Garg has an anti-BB angle to it (both flyers, Sanctum trying to return any destroyed flyers that may already be in the graveyard).
Kind of silly to look at those cards as anti-BB rather than on their talents....
personally I would sooner carry a non-lethal protection device such as pepper spray or something to that effect than I would be willing to get a Concealed Carry Permit to allow me to carry a Gun to protect either myself or my possessions.
Honestly though, if you want the best form of protection short of a gun, it isn't a pepper spray, it is learning a martial arts form, and using that to protect yourself. I highly doubt anyone who has to resort to theft of cards is going to be versed enough in a Martial Arts to be able to win said fight, even if you have only been studying for about a month.
Umm, no. Having taken martial arts, I feel more comfortable with one of my Glocks at my waist rather than fists of fury ready to defend and I think most others, given the option, would say the same. Ask 100 criminals which they would rather not face and I have a feeling the answer will be unanimous.
That said, you do raise a different point, that being that while a weapon is useful for when the fight is on, there is a better defense of person. Simply put, situational awareness and avoidance will both help prevent your cards from being stolen inside the shop and should help to prevent that ugly confrontation outside the shop.
If you are going to carry, do it to preserve your life and property in general (as well as to preserve the lives of those important to you). I would not worry so much about some punk who wants your magic cards as I would worry about some crackhead wanting to steal your last $10 to buy their next hit.
Also remember, if you are getting robbed, why shoot someone over your magic cards ? Nevermind the value of the cards, is it worth the hassle of years in court for criminal and civil trials over the cards ? If you want to carry a gun, do it to protect yourself and those important to you but remember the consequences that follow should you pull the trigger. I say this as a man with a concealed carry permit, willing and able to carry, but only to shoot when it is a last resort. Hell, my $3500 watch is not worth the BS court cases that will follow, nevermind my cards.
Just got back into magic and bought a box of Shards to get going again.
Pulled five mythics: Tezzeret, Eslpeth, Hellkite Overlord, Empyrial Archangel, and Druid of Anima (ugh) (EDIT Mayael of the Anima, still ugh)
Rares were not bad either: Knight of White Orchid, Ranger of Eos, Hell's Thunder, Broodmate Dragon, Cruel+Titanic+Violent Ultimatum (yah for getting my three favs of the ultimatum group), Ad Nauseum, Goblin Assault, and a foil Death Baron.
Not a bad way to get back into Magic since leaving it when Weatherlight was just being spoiled...
