The Dredge player argued that the Zombie could attack, because he controlled it during his turn - that it was the same object and therefore shouldn't be sick.

My friends (mono blue vs Dredge) played a legacy game this other day and the following situation occurred:

MUC: "I'll steal your Zombie token with my Vedalken Shackles during main phase.

Dredge: "That's fine. After you gain control of it.. I'm going to flashback my Ancient Grudge to destroy your Shackles and attack with my Zombie."

MUC: "You can't attack. It's summoning sick."

Dredge: "It's not summoning sick, so I can attack you."

    EDIT:
The Dredge player argued that the Zombie could attack, because he controlled it during his turn - that it was the same object and therefore shouldn't be sick. EDIT.

PS: The dialogue didn't went that way (obv), because they were slightly angry at each other etc. It didn't end up mattering though, because the Dredge player had 10 more Zombies. We were 13 people at the tournament site and no one knew the answer (yeah, I'm ashamed).

    So, who's right?

  • posted a message on Aether Vial + Sower of Temptation in response to equip.
I'm attempting to equip my Squire with a Worldslayer, when my opponent suddenly vials in a Sower of Temptation with Aether Vial.

This question is ridiculously stupid and I really just want to confirm that I'm not insane:

Does the creature get equipped? I'm very, very sure it does, but.. (since I'm equipping my opponents creature before the ability resolves, but then again, the creature did belong to me when I attempted to equip.)

    Thanks.

I purchased 4x Energy Fields for 3.99 each on May 22nd, 2011. I have not received them and the order has been inexplicably canceled on their site. I have sent an email inquiring about this with no response yet.

Edit: I should also note that currently Energy Field is retailing on their site for 12.99.

Did you get your money back?

I've also had bad experiences with TnT. They were pretty good before, though.

Nowadays a "played" card from TnT is bent (almost broken /ripped apart a little bit) and barely tournament playable.

It's a shame, because they were really good before.

  • posted a message on Frost Titan and copy of spells.
My opponent is tapped out and has a Frost Titan in play.

I have three mountains and an active Pyromancer Ascension in play.

I tap a mountain to cast Lighting Bolt on the Titan. Ascension produces a copy of Bolt, which I'm using to target the Titan.

So; I think the Titan survives, because I couldn't pay 2 twice.

However, this incident just occurred on MODO and I only paid three mana to kill the Titan.

Is MODO wrong or am I missing something? Surely, you have to pay for the copy?

    Thanks for answers.

Is Leatherback Baloth being played over Mul Daya Channelers just because of Pyroclasm?

It seems, on paper, that Channelers should be 5/5 quite often with fetchlands.

Turn 1 : Land, Memnite, Memnite, Mox Opal ,Steel Overseer

Turn 2 : Land ,Tempered Steel, Tap Steel overseer, swing for 8

Turn 3 : Land, Indomitable Archangel or etched champion or even Tempered steel, .

Assuming that you're on the play, you just emptied your hand.

A Wall of Omen here, a little removal there and Day of Judgment.

What are you gonna do than? Draw 4 Bolts in a row?

This deck is more Magical Christmas Land than Conley Woods' Magical Christmas Land.

Why are you playing Etched Champion? It's a 2/2 bear. And Chalice in an aggro deck? Really?

You know that was proven mathamaticly incorrect. the percent chance of not drawing a land off this after 8 sac lands have been popped is .045%. It's a myth.

I think know .045% is wrong. Dude, percent.

Anyways, if you play 12 fetchlands in your deck, than YES, your chance of not drawing a land will be higher. BUT, this only applies if you have already cracked around 8 of them, which is 40% of your life total.

Yeah, so let's say you play 25 land in you deck.

    Opening 7: 3 lands, 4 spells.

    Chance of drawing land = 22 / 53 = 41.5094 %

However, if you fetch first, than:

    Chance of drawing land = 21 / 53 = 39.6226 %

This means, you decrease your chance of drawing lands with 1.8868 %.

This is the minimum number. In the late game, when you have drawn most of your lands, the effect will be bigger.

I would conclude that it's NOT worth the life loss to increase your chance of drawing a spell by 2 %.

Wasn't UW one of RDW's worst matchups?

Only if they had 4 Kor Firewalker off the board.

I can see the argument for Comet Storm. However, here's the main problem I see:

    - It costs 1 extra R over Fireball, and considering how tight we are on the curve, that one R might be gamebreaking for us.

It's not like you're gonna fire off an X-spell asap.
The advantage that Comet Storm provides outweighs the disadvantage.

I'm sure you can do something else in the mean time, either pumping Kargan, slinging burn, or EOT Comet Storm, which will tap them out (against Control).

Against weenie decks, if necessary, you can wipe some of their creatures instantly. Fireball can't do anything.

    ---

Also, running less than 4 Koth of the Hammer is wrong.

He's your best card. You want him in your opener, or you should wish for that.

Koth is beyond insane, he is your deck.

The way I see how this deck should be approached is the Big Red -way.

Key cards for this deck are:
4 Plated Geopede. Premiere red two drop. It's just unfair.
4 Kargan Dragonlord . This card is given. Your second best card. Blocks Baneslayer all day long :D:D
4 Koth of the Hammer . The card that makes this deck real.
2-3 Comet Storm. The reason why many people choose to drop it is because they haven't seen it in action. This card was dropped because of Cascade, but now that Cascade is gone, it will be heavily played.
4 Lightning Bolt . This card is given.
4 Burst Lightning . At the moment, this will get the nod over Galvanic Blast. I can't imagine Big Red with 3 artifacts on the board. (You have Chalice, Mox and maybe some of they new artifact creatures, like Manticore, but I think the chance is higher that I will kick Burst than burn for 4 with Galvanic Blast.)
4 Goblin Guide. This should also be given, even if we're aiming for the Big Red direction. Many decks just loses on the spot to Turn 1 GG.

I think a list like this would be suitable for the Post-Rotation Meta:

I would also suggest playing 4 Valakut, because it will be good in the long game and it can be your 1-drop when you don't have Goblin Guide in your opener.

However, it has weak interactions with Koth and I have no testing behind me to determine if Big Red is best with or without Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle.

the arbiter spazzing reminds me of the gaddock teeg spazzing.

All i can say is the only way "every white deck will play it" is if any and all aggressive white decks cut Steppe Lynx... pretty sure 1 drop 4/5s are better than moderatly disruptive 2/2s for 2.

    WW will play both.

    Quote from Crownclown
No IT WILL NOT BE MAINDECKED. As it hurts a lot of stratergy's including a lot of white stratergy's. And if it is what makes you think a deckw ill be built around soemthing taht doesnt generate as much CA as Fauna shaman can. Dies to bolt.....

Turn 1: Plains, Steppe Lynx, Student of Warfare or worst case scenario Elite Vanguard.

    Turn 2: Fetch, Leonin Arbiter.

Did you play Mountain (for Lightning Bolt) or Swamp (Vendetta / Disfigure) or fetch Turn 1?

If not, WW's Turn 3 play is Honor of the Pure / or better: Brave the Elements and they are in no rush to kill you.

    H¡,

I don´t know if it has been discussed here before but, although i can see Koth is an amazing PW for this deck. Without Earthquake the soul sister match is almost unwinnable.

will the meta allow a rdw in the tier 1 decks?

Soul Warden is not in Type 2 when SOM enters.

And isn't Comet Storm better than Fireball in a Big Red-esque deck?

  • posted a message on Mishra's Workshop vs Bazaar of Baghdad & Unlimited Time Vault
Tha Gunslinga lists them as this:

    Mishra's Workshops
    $300 NM/NM-
    $275 2x NM-
    $260 5x EX+
    $250 EX
    $225 5x F
    $200 Artist Proof

    Bazaar of Baghdad
    $190 4x EX
    $180 2x F
    $170 2x VG
$160 VG with small pentagram drawn on top border
$160 EX with 2 slight bends, fine sleeved
$160 EX with slight binder ding and very light vertical bend, fine sleeved

    Time Vault
    $300 NM/NM-

    4 x Mishra's Workshop EX+/NM = $260 x 4 =
    $1040 for EX+
    $300 x 4 = $1200 for NM

    3x Bazaar of Baghdad NM- = Let's say $220 x 3 = $660
    1x Bazaar of Baghdad EX = $190
    1 x Time Vault EX = Let's say $250
    = $1100

Basically you have a) are the Shops NM? and b) what you want most, since the price is fairly even.
