I have a "fun" reanimate deck that revolves around Deranged Hermit.

Bury the hermit, reanimate it, let it die on the upkeep and reanimate again and again an exx.

I use Reanimate and Exhume mostly plus a couple of Dread Return but Recurring Nightmare works good for this too.

It gets a lot of kicks from people just from the crazy amount of squirrels.

Just throwing that out there, have fun,
    Dr.KnowMaD

I have used Johan before and it ok. How about Vizzerdrix
Yea I should read more closely,
The Ravnica artifacts are alright. And you could use the land cycling creatures like Twisted Abomination to kill two birds. Damn, I did it again, forget me, I am going to bed.
One more try quick, Blood Pet and Soul Exchange good enough, now I'm going to bed.

Excellent primer. Two cards that you might want to consider adding that I've had great luck with are Gempalm Strider and Tribal Forcemage

    Thats what I was thinking.

As for mana producers, Birchlore Rangers is very good (please WotC reprint this with good art).

I have played with an Elfdeck for years casually and have collected one of every elf in the game. With that said I feel my most valued card to play with Elves is Aluren. On its own it is fantastic. Combined with cards such as Recycle and/or Intruder Alarm it gets ridicules. (yes I know there are other maybe better combos with those cards, but not nearly as fun IMO)

Hoha, go Valve. Portal and left 4 dead are the #%$@.

Anyways, your playing casual (ha ha no kidding), most likely vintage/legacy.

Two cards to consider. Buried Alive, Exhume. (Reanimate is a classic favorite)

    Have fun,

To answer your question, the deck is ok, but not great.

I am not going to tell you all things that should or should not be done but I do think with all your artifacts a Academy Ruins would be good. As I am on the subject of mana base I would clean it up slightly, again thats for you to figure out though.

Also, Harrow is an instant, which gives you much more flexibility.

    Split Second.

    enough said,
    Dr.KnowMaD

p.s. My favorite card for its ability is Time Walk. (Mindslaver is in a close second) Taking extra turns, even opponents, is just busted and in the face like who's the wiz.

    Quote from Surging Chaos
@ ledzep2247: There are three problems with Reanimator in Vintage:

    1. Leyline exists, and that's a big problem when Ichorid is one of the top decks. This residual hate affects Reanimator badly because Leyline literally stops the deck from functioning at all. Further problems arise when the deck doesn't have anyway to stop a Leyline at the beginning of the game.

Leyline is going to exist for all the grave decks, that is why (we all spaced mentioning this) it is important to pack bounce like Chain of Vapor or Echoing Truth to go along with Force or Duress.

    2. Lack of protection/disruption means you leave yourself open to being stuffed by counterspells; most notably Force. In addition, this lack of disruption makes life miserable against other decks when they can do what they want unimpeded.

I think we all can agree there is a need for some sort of Main Deck disruption in this deck. Main Deck Disruption. But you are trying saying all Reanimate builds have this problem.

    3. The deck is slow. A combo deck isn't going to worry about an Akroma when they can go off in one turn to kill you next turn or the turn after that. Vintage is a ridiculously explosive format where game changing cards like Ancestral Recall and Yawgmoth's Will are floating around.

Only because this deck is less broken and has little disruption not Reanamator. If this was true wouldn't Oath or any aggro/control esque be less of a contender? Top it of I have reanimated Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind and won on the spot.

If you want to make a Reanimator deck, why not just reanimate a Worldgorger Dragon and win right on the spot?

Bingo.. thats one of the things that happened. Another is Tendrils of Agony. If you are playing Rituals, draw, and tutors (Yawgmoth's Will) why not just have a Tendrils handy to kill on the spot. Plus it opens room for more control/options. If you are running Bazaar of Baghdad then play Ichorid or Dawn of the Dead.

Reanimate is not viable because its not optimal. This doesn't matter though because it was already stated that this is most likely not going to be for competitive use. Besides, I think with some creative tweaks and a good pilot this deck could be fun to rouge.

    Cool pet, later,
    Dr.KnowMaD

p.s. Overmaster is cool and a good start on protecting yourself.

Good Suggestion, but that is 200 dollars that i do not have right now. If i wanted to make competitive Dreadstill, would have posted in the competitive legacy forum.

Or even better, the Vintage forum. Though you would also need Standstill and probably some manlands for that deck and it plays out a bit differently than FishNought. Yes it is a bit of cash but you should be saving for your other FoW's anyways and you do have duel lands (for what? EE is all I see) which are pricy, plus I play cards like the ones suggested casually all the time so....

The original point is the golem is trash and the land is not that great either.

I don't have the answers as to what to put in those slots. I just know something has to be better. You are close to being able to run Esperzoa.

Because you are playing against a lot of aggro and some control I think a single Skullclamp could prove useful at making your mages do double time. I always have a Chalice of the Void in my package but it doesn't seem to fit here.

Anyways, my bad, I'll try to be more casual. (still not sure what exactly you are looking for)

I used to play reanimate and still pull a list out for fun sometimes but not competitively.

When you were looking for a land out Mox Diamond is good and I am liking retrace lately, such as Raven's Crime.

I think that the 3 an 2 mix you had of the Intuition / Buried Alive was good and I was going to suggest it except the other way around. Only because Dark Ritual is one of the best mana boosts to use, especially for a budget player (you know, no drains, no shops). So I am advocating the return of buried a. On that note, I would never play Putrid Imp, its just cluttering up things. If your not playing ritual something first turn than you should be careful studding or mystical tutor, demonic whatever, just not the imp. I wouldn't use space for the researcher either but at least it nets a card in return so thats cool.

I agree with the suggestions for some sort of control/disrupt element like Duress in the main. Personally I would work hard and save up for a set of Force of Will. Duress alone is inexpensive and very ,very good at what it does. Maybe 3 duress 2 Raven's Crime (you can target yourself with the crime if needed).

If you are looking for more cards to the grave effects than Frantic Search, Windfall, Fact or Fiction, Gifts Ungiven and Memory Jar are all solid.

Demonic Consultation can be great and I would at least try it out. It is defiantly more skill intensive.

Underground River is terrible! You can't even fetch them out. Basic lands are important to have so you don't get Wasteland to death.

I play more mana accelerants. Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Tolarian Academy plus a few poor moxen to up the speed.

Ten recursion spells was always plenty for me.

Always liked Platinum Angel as a fall back.

Those where some quick thoughts, you can disregard the less budgeted items like Mana Crypt and Force of Will, I was just throwing it out there.

    have fun, lates

Both Barbarian Ring and Strip Mine are amazing with crucible/fastbond.

I would focus more on Crucible/bond and not Trade/assault. T/A is cute but clanky with the mana and speed. C/B = $%@ kicking and fast with a much better mana base to work with.

Also, I would streamline by using tutors to fetch what you need. Example, Black has Entomb for the lands and Demonic/vampiric tutor for the Fastbond.

Black also has Underworld Dreams which is something that you could use with the Horn of Greed if you want. And I agree with the Black Vise could be used with the horn.

Life of the Loam is very good.

Another thought is something like Wheel of Fortune has good synergy.

Lastly and a bit off but I have been wanting to try out Worm Harvest in something like this. Anything with retrace basically but I think the worms are cool.

    Quick thoughts, later.

I call Inkwell Leviathan "Apu". Get it? :/

His power and toughness is 7/11.

    Obscure Simpson's reference anyone?

I have been using Quickie Mart or simply Ink for this one.

    Others, some already mentioned.

Psychatog - Smilie Guy (Dr. Teeth is the common reference known to me)
    Darksteel Colossus - Darkman
    Trinket Mage - Bomberman
    Triskelion - Triskets
    Savannah Lions - Kitty
Isamaru, Hound of Konda - Puppy
Wild Mongrel - Mutt / the Tramp
    Tarmogoyf - Goofy
    Quirion Dryad - She Hulk
Chameleon Colossus - Jolly Green Giant
    Platinum Angel - Bling Bling

I know there are a lot more but these are off the top.

So much focus on the bad being the reason for there being no God, I don't get that. How does that prove anything? How come there are no links posted to all (sooooo much) good, miraculous things that happen every day as a comparative to the argument.

(IcecreamMan, you probably were not attempting to be literal but I can't help my self and think you should do more than "just read the news" for information.)

Also it seem like there is a lot a personal hatred towards a God and I would interpret that as still believing in a God, just from a negative view. God is bad so I don't believe in God. The thing is there is a bad God for you to base an idea that there is no God.

Panda is right, any of my atheist friends would be appalled by the representation here of late. They don't argue in the first place because they don't have to. There is no God simply because they choose not to perceive one. They don't have to explain or show argument because there isn't one in the first place. Why not believe in a God, because you don't have to, why believe, because you can. End of argument, now lets go do something productive.

Not to get back of topic (too late), but if anyone wants a good source for the political strategies used to gain a mass following read Mein Kampf by Adolph Hitler.

@BacEnd, I don't think you know much about Egyptian philosophy. You might be surprised but theirs has many similarities to christianity. A good place to start is The Egyptian Book of the Dead. Have fun.

Lastly, I would like to note that Black, White, Yellow, Red ex.. are not races, and it would be offensive to me to be called a Red Man or what have you. Please refrain from such terms.

    (I like the Human race)

I recommand mono-red aggro shop, it's a great aggro lockdown deck to start with in the actual field.

I really like this idea. AggroShop is great in general and tons of fun to play. The mono-red one has favor with the field you'll most likely see.

I also have a soft spot for Fish. At this time B.U.G or G.U.W are both running well, but again there is so many variations. Do some research and have fun.

If you want something that can go busted try a Grow or Storm variant. (I like grow a lot, play it a quit a bit)

    Oath is good.

Tezdeck is hot right now Sleeping
