Dark Depths: A potential wincon; decent source to sink your infinite mana into when you get the Basalt Monolith + Power Artifact combo. Also, recurrable via Crucible of Worlds.
Trade Routes: Turns your lands into card advantage and works well with Crucible of Worlds, also allows you to continually transmute Tolaria West via Crucible to find several key lands, etc.
Spiritual Asylum: Protects your lands against removal like Wasteland and friends.
Intuition: Self explanatory, but this card is so useful in this deck with all the different ways to recur lands, enchantments, and artifacts. Usually, a first grab will consist of a mix of Academy Ruins & Crucible of Worlds, and the second grab will get various combo pieces and/or Skull of Orm.
Quicken: For instant-speed Wrath of Gods, Replenish, Open the Vaults.
Glamerdye: Useful against Pyroblast & friends, combos with Douse.
I hope everything else is mostly self-explanatory, I am for once tired of typing...
First off, thanks!
Secondly I am a big fan of Occam's Razor so I'll just say that my gut instinct is to tell you that a simplified (60 card version) of this deck will just provide better results and most likely be more constant (since constancy is obtained through doing less and doing it well). I do love both teachings decks and gimmicks so it looks like a lot of fun. Then again my favorite deck style is control with a win-condition and 1 alt-win condition so a well placed Extirpate can really ruin my day.
Third, you are running Vedalkan Shackles my all time favorite alternate win condition so cheers about that!
Woot, freshmeat. H_H will get the 10,000 question quiz together. Xanth can take him to the dueling chamber to test his magical learnings...and I will handle the strip search.
I'd welcome you, but I am just the clan's familiar.
I'm going to have to Stifle the 10,000 question quiz when it triggers :p.
@Oceanos try using www.findmagiccards.com they'll list an impressive amount of places which are selling the cards and even give you a nice graph of its price fluctuation. I find starcity to be on the pricey end of things. For Force of Will you could probably get very lucky on ebay since people often sell them off a little cheaper there to undercut.
Ive been a long time lurker on this forum and so this would count as my first post here in the Mono Blue Clan (which I very much hope I can eventually join :D)
To start things off I started playing around when Ravnica came out because my college roommate and friend played and honestly I loved Ravnica. From that era I still have my beloved Dralnu Teachings and Dragonstorm decks together in their entirety. Currently I am at a loss for standard and quickly losing interest and I would deeply love to make a Dreadstill deck for legacy although that will run me about $700 . Standard right now has made it impossible for the draw-go lifestyle I really loved. Right now blue is moving to mill and is losing its instant draw and only picking up some pretty meh counters, imho, so what is there to do in standard?
Anyway just my two-cents and introduction. If it counts I did spend a while thinking up what to say.
Since I don't own PS and my art skills are minimal at best I hope someone here will be nice enough to help me out. I have been testing the Dreadstill legacy deck for some time and hopefully I'll be able to finally put it all together and so this is my idea, and I apologize in advance if it seems too complicated, moving from left to right: Standstill Phyrexian Dreadnought being Stifled (as in those yellow/green energy beam things wrapping around it) Sensei's Diving Top with Counterbalance semi-transparently ontop of it Force of Will
If you have any better suggestions feel free to make them:D
I'm new so if I infringed on any policy feel free to let me know
So after months I have finally decided to begin posting and I wanted to say I am always excited to see what new alterations you guys think up, when I get some free time i really hope I can make something worth posting here too.
Dream Fracture is probably the most underrated counterspell in standard, simply because of the amount of cards most decks draw anyway. Although I haven't tested Jeebus' deck, I do run a Bant Control deck that runs off a similar concept, and Dream Fracture is wonderful.
Mind posting it? I am starving for a strong/heavy control deck.
24 lands seems a little low but is it working out for you?
I do like the Battlegrace Angel technique over having 3 Oona, Queen of the Fae since their clock is the same [because of which turn they activate of course] why did you make the Oona choice? I am still not sold on Dream Fracture.
Dralnu was one of my favorite decks to play I just loved the interaction it had with other decks because it was a toolbox, unlike Dragonstorm which played almost as if you didn't have an opponent (although I do like the Dragons). I constantly want there to be a draw, go deck in standard again except with the weakened power of counters it won't happen in the near future (speculation and pessistimistic opinion).
I do see your point about Kitchen Finks although I don't know how I feel about about not having a 1 drop and Condemn holds a soft spot in my heart because it reminds me of Swords to Plowshares. I completely agree about Broken Ambitions and so I think I'll try switching them to main and Condemn to sideboard and 2 Relic of Progenitus for Infest.
I see Dr. Jeebus's point with Dream Fracture" target="blank">Dream Fracturealthough I am hesitant to play around with it. The more I read your deck, the more I change mine admitting your idea to be superior. I intended on making this Draw, Go and then I kept sacrificing the idea little by little with adding Wrath of God, Runed Halo, &tc. Of course all tweaking of my deck idea should involve some credit to both of you for the convincing arguments.
I don't think Tidehollow Strix was ever suggested. Perhaps you meant Tidehollow Sculler? Either way, such critters are indeed not meant for this deck. Board sweepers don't mix well with little, fragile critters.
A few comments:
- The curve is 1(4) 2(12) 3(6) 4(8) 5(3)
- Profane Command might be a nice 1-of win condition except I am not sold on it
- I lack Thoughtseize which does hurt me and I am not sold on Tidehollow Sculler for a deck like this
- I pick Runed Halo over Distress (I simply love Runed Halo and how some decks just can't handle it until the second match), Agony Warp over Terror (too high a chance the card is part black with these blocks), and Battlegrace Angel over Razormane Masticore (too slow I'd rather Kitchen Finks against aggro then him)
- I feel that if I maindecked Kitchen Finks I would tap out at too often or lose a crucial counter war
- I chose 4 Relic of Progenitus because it seems like every deck now has some graveyard shenanigans although an extra Negate, Remove Soul, or even Hindering Light might be more worth one or two of these spots
- I love having Jace Beleren for the more control build
First off, thanks!

When you test post results it looks great.
EDIT: My point which I skipped over is you would have to tutor less for that 1-of or 3-of if you ran less cards and had a higher chance of it being in your hand in the first place. This is a consideration since tutoring spells are often a 1-for-1 trade and a loss of tempo. Lastly with so many 1-ofs and choices why don't I see any Gifts Ungiven and Fact or Fiction or Trinket Mage to pull a Seat of the synod (and other artifact lands),Pithing Needle, Tormod's Crypt, Relic of Progenetius, Engineered Explosives, Chalice of the Void, Mox Diamond or the illustrious Sensei's Divining Top?

so awesome thanks so much!

Dr. Jeebus, I would like to ask you why no Persuassion or Gather Specimens (or the easier removed Sower of Temptation) and no Jace Beleren?
Honestly, I have no idea why I included that part, I'll delete the mistake., thank you.
Yes, and I will edit the change thanks.
