My latest personal project along with transforming Arcum Daggson EDH into all Urza themed is to alter all of my Volrath into Phyrexian/Volrath themed art. A mogg on Entomb, Volrath on all the draw effects in the spirit of Necrologia, things like that. Exciting!
These need some love. I just love this panorama style effect that these lands achieve. I might have adjusted the sky of the Forest to give it a greener atmosphere, but I still love 'em! I want to try something like this when I get the time.
@Rhiom: It's a board wipe you can play consistently every game and allows you to play every card available in EDH. Fail to see how putting it in a specific zone is bad.
@demonium: absolutely gorgeous Crypt. Your figure is beautiful, the tech is perfect for the card. Only critique, borders could be tightened up. Other than that, flawless.
@bristol: Thanks! I usually do an entirely B/W undercoat first, then I go in with the color and value. My approach is based very much in comic book artwork as that's my job when I'm not doing alters or grinding to pay bills :/
@Yawg: I'll definitely swing by, I'd love see your work in person as well as yourself!
@CardKitty: I think the problem with the sword of war and peace is the proportions of the woman and her balance. They seem really off and not part of the composition. I sketched another version that I think may be a little closer to what you were trying to get at...
I think this the direction you were headed, I just noticed that the way the forearm that you extended from skeletally wouldn't operate the way you wanted it to. That piece informs the rest of the body, and you could move the head in whatever way, but I think the body would look about like this (albeit my character design.) The old Serra Angel's pose is a really good reference for this extension, IMO. Also, since altering is your business I would assume that you would take pride in each card. I may not be the most prolific or the fastest alterer, but I give everyone more than their money's worth because those alters are reflections of my personal ethic. Sub-par alters according to my personal standards just aren't an option for me since excellence is my business.
