This is my actual deck that I play in my local area. It does Very well here, and yes I did make a token Doran deck. I chose Doran for his colors and early beats. But unlike the other Doran decks listed, they seemed to have more Treefolk cards just because they were using Doran. So my deck doesn't really "need" my genral to win. Instead of play creatures with a huge ass like 1/5's and what not, I wanted to play creatures that had equal P/T. and I wanted everything in my deck to do more then just 1 thing. A good example of this is Divinity of Pride, or Creakwood Liege. Cards that always are effecting the game. Maybe not at that moment, but they both can win the game by the selves.
The land base is something of dumb luck, I get Doran on turn 3 every single game. Maybe 1 out of 100 I don't, but paring land D, Doran is bring the beats turn 3.
Enchantmetns and Artifacts. Yes I know there is a lot of them. But Remember this is a token deck. This deck wins 1 of 2 ways usely. Some creature, Doran or Other, with all kinds of equipment buffs just beating down. Or Tokens, Tokens, and more Tokens. This deck has many options, with cards like Helm of Possession and Glare of Subdual I can pretend I am a blue player and steal all the important creatures, and use Glare like Opposition to form some sort of soft lock. Or I can pretend I am the mono black Korlash deck, and just abuse cards like Debtors' Knell and Oversold Cemetery and Volrath's Stronghold, Add a little Grave Pact in there Plus something like Qasali Pridemage or Skullclamp or Miren, the Moaning Well and things just start getting silly. Doesn't suit your needs yet, ok, with all the mana ramp in the deck, you can draw into early Multani, Maro-Sorcerer Beats! or Maybe some Angel of Despair would be more fun? Still not happy? Ok, White Weenie Beat down uh? Well just tutor your Mirror Entity up and go to town, with spot removal like Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares, blockers are a things of the past. Not to mention if they get all crazy eye'd on you, just Vindicate anything in your way and keep on bashing.
Ahh Red....how I envy thee. Sorry folks, but Doran just can't pretend to be a red mage. Fire and trees don't mix. Them's the breaks. So in order to beat Red, I just use cards like Ravenous Baloth. I know I know, really, this guy??? Well when I play him for the fourth or fifth time...your eye will start to twitch. Not to mention when I get my Mirror Entity on the board...and then make all 11 of my creatures beasts....then cast Wrath of God because your creatures Are better then mine....but not before I sac all 11 beasts for an amazing 44 life....yeah...eat that Red mages.
So that's the deck....This is not an easy deck to play. I find that even though I always win with 1 of 2 ways, how I get to the point of winning always seems to be different. Hope it helps anyone looking to build some good Doran Beats decks. Any feed back will highly be considered. Thx.
IDK, dude has a point with this Skull Collector thing. Look at it like this...
A) You can tell that a wrath is coming down after your turn because of things the other players have done. Skull Collector bounce something you want to save to keep your engine going. Hopefully the Martial coup or something and he can Regen past the wrath.
B) Chittering Rats soft lock is nothing to laugh at. It can be a huge pain in the ass to get around. Pretty much someone else has to save them. But beware, once you soft lock someone, there going to try and kill you...So basically this tactic is only used when you are ahead...and you are trying to stay ahead.
C) This guy was the early kind of answer you seem to want. Skull Collector is only 3 mana and can Regen after blocks to keep your life total up in the early parts of the game. T1 Rat, T2 Utility, T3 Skull Collector....live a while.
D) I also like this guy because he almost forces you not to over extend. With him bouncing a guy every turn, that means, to over extend you would have to play something like 3 guys in 1 turn to over extend, maybe even 4 guys. And well, if you do that...you deserve to be wraith-ed.
On side notes: There is 2 tribal decks, Scarecrows and Elemental s. So P. Bidding would be a very scary play sometimes, but it would also win you the game in others.
Also, Yes, I do put this much thought into every single card I play. That way if one of you silly people laughs at me for playing it...I can back it up on why its better then whatever peice of trash you "think" I should be playing, and well you've seen Doran in action. The deck speaks for itself.:p
holy hell you zomg needz some black market! Must need....also, it kind of goes hand in hand, sprout swarm does me some wicked good, and it always starts out slow, Lab Rats will do the same for you. I have no idea why I am typeing this instead of you just tell you face to face.....awkward.
ok guys, I have been saying G/W tokens is dead because I am the 1900 DCI player running the deck at all the big events and at my FNM's. To Clear some things up...
1: Runed Halo is just horrible. It doesn't stop hallowed Burial nor Baneslayer Angel, and is just a minor inconvenience to Cryptic Command and Mistbind Clique. Nor does is it stop elves from killing you in any way. SO its not the answer we are looking for.
2: G/w tokens is dieing because of 5cc. Old school Quick n' Toast. The deck just has too many perfect answers for our deck. No offence to anyone that has been play testing with their buddy and winning, but they sux at playing 5cc. Put someone that knows the deck and has a DCI above 1800 behind it, and they crush us. 95 out of 100 games. Pre or post SB.
We were always 50/50 on Fae, 65/35 on Kithkin, 50/50 on Jund, 70/30 on Jank. Elves we could beat if they stumbled. So I am going to tell you how my play testing went, which was 55/45 G/w tokens favor, and I always won with flyers just FYI.
3: If you going to stick with this deck, you must go G/W Little Kid, not G/w Tokens. Here is a sample list that did well in a PTQ this season. PTQ Austin 2009 - Brussels / Belgium
Now this is an old list, and needs to be updated, but you get the idea.
To be the most blunt and serious I can be, the cards that are killing us is Fallout backed up by Hallowed Burial.
Can anyone find a bullet proof solution to this problem? If you can, then G/W tokens is back on the market. Until then, is Forge-Tender/Honor the Pure, Teeg. Thats all we got. And if we are playing Teeg, then its G/w little kid, and not G/w Tokens. Sad but true.:-/
Hmm. Not to nitpick, but Guttural Response isn't very synergystic with the Cannonist. If you play a spell and it gets countered with Cannonist in play, that's it. However, I do see how it helps in the alpha strike area, walking into Cryptic with Guttural Response as your answer. It just seems a bit like a double-edged sword to me.
Have you ever been in a situation where the cards didn't play off each other correctly?
This deck puts on SO much pressure so early, their Cryptic s sux, because all they do is fog and draw a card. So just time your Guttural Response at the right swing...and they die. GG.
I don't want to say I have ever been in a weird situation like that in a tournament, however, during play testing I was running G/w Overrun with Teeg. Trying to be greedy I guess, like laying Ajani and Teeg in the same turn, or OO my Favorite was play Garruk, un tap 2 lands, Teeg. But that what play testing is for, because that only happened once out of every 10 games or so. In fact, what made me stop playing Teeg was when I had Teeg in play, and nothing else, and my oppt. wouldn't kill him, block him, or swing so I could block. I died with all spells I couldn't play in my hand. Again, this is the kind of stuff play testing is for.
Cloudthersher are for Fae. Just fae. I have used them against B/W tokens as well, but since that deck as all but died...Still keep it in mind for the stubborn rouge player that is going to try and make B/w tokens work.
If Stillmoon is kicking your butt, something is kind of wrong with how you are playing your turns. In genral, I almost NEVER block with this deck, because the only deck that swings harder then G/w tokens, is Bant aggro. With Freak and Finest Hour, btw. In Genral, 1 Overrun, and your oppent dies, so little Stillmoon isn't big or badass enough for me to worry about it. UNLESS, Stillmoon is in play...and your oppenet has 11 mana open...1 for First stirke and 10 for pump to kill my Wilt-Leaf...that also paring no Ajani counters, and no Honor the pure. But if your Oppt. has 11 mana open, he is more then likely just going to Jump and pump, then you die. That also is a "false fear" btw, if for some insane reason your oppenent has 11 mana....you have already lost. most my games don't go beyond turn 5-8. So Lets say he NEVER missed a land drop....until turn 12. Lets say you have had an average draw, and have 6-8 lands in play. Thats ATLEAST 4 more spells you have drawen that he hasn't. You should have won, or you are about to win.
Cannoist isn't only there for Elves also. Don't forget about Naya Cascade, or 5cc Cascade, or 4cc Cascade. All decks you could come across anywhere from FNM to Nats this weekend.
I'm not quite sure that I follow. Are you saying that we should main Cannonist and Teag and SB out Procession and Cloudgoat? It would help if you posted a suggested Deck.
Sorry I didn't indeed post a deck list. However, I am suggesting that yes, Teeg and Cannonist come in out of the board. Your SB right now should look like this:
And what you take out in the 5CC match up should be:
Out:
All Overruns x2 or x3 (I run 3, 30% more likely to hit it)
All Plainswalkers x3 or x4 ( I run just 3 Ajani )
All Spec. Pros. x4 (If your not running four.....something is really wrong.)
Any other spells that can't get through Teeg ( which should be none )
-2 Noble Hiearch. (Now this might seem silly, but he can give you dead draws, and 9 out of 10 times, just dies to one of the 10 board sweeps 5cc throws at you. Not to mention, you don't have anything to ramp into, the deck is mostly 2 drops. )
In:
Burrten-Forge Tender x3 (For the Fallouts and Fire Spouts)
Ethersworn Cannonist x3 (For the Cascade Version of the deck.)
Gaddock Teeg x3 (Don't play him into counters, and without protection. This will single handed win you the game, IF you keep him alive at all cost.)
Guttural Response x3 (We are still an aggro deck, so his Cryptic Commands are going to be to tap your team and Draw a card....this is where you Cast these if its for Leathel damage...otherwise...save them to get your stuff through the Counter Wall.)
So hello everyone, Prepare for a very long, but Good article that someone should be paying me to write, but I am not that luck, however I still will share all this amazing information with you guys.....
I just got back from the KY 5k Open, followed by a PTQ on Sunday, and let me tell you, G/W Tokens is dead. I have done very well with my G/W list (2 Top 8's at PTQ's and 1 13th at a PTQ ((lost the last round to get in))), and man O man do I love this deck. Sadly however, the format has changed, Salvation doesn't have the correct T1 list atm, but I am sure they will catch up very soon....::cough::
So what was at the Top 8's this weekend you ask, well I have that information.
On the 5k, it was::
2Mono WhiteKithkin (which our deck surely barrel rolls) 25CC (old school style, Broodmates, Plumveil, 70 counter spells, you know the list.) 1 5CC Cascade (standard list) 1 Fae (duh...) 2 Elf Ball (not sure which version. Banefire/Coat of Arms/Druids)
So basically G/w Tokens can't win unless it gets lucky enough to play Kithkin, Kithkin, Elf ball, not in that order, AND have good draws every single game.
On the PTQ the next day::
1 5CC (Old school Quick and toast + new hotness) 1 5CC Cascade 1 5CC (mostly old school, but played Jace + Ajani V.) Won the PTQ, BTW! 1 Elf Ball (druids) 1 Elf Ball (Coat/Mirror Einity/Banfire 1 of each) 1 Elf Ball ( Overrun ) 1 Kithkin (mono white) 1 Jund Aggro (Tribal, CC, Nameless, Ram Gang, etc)
So here again we have the same problem, we Need to play Kithkin, and Jund Aggro, then Hope the Elf Ball, or 5CC we see get mana screwed or hindered in some great way that allows us to win....with luck not skill.
:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
My day went like this,
R1 5cc old school, Lose 0-2
R2 Jund Aggro, they can't win 2-0
R3 Jund Aggro, They can't win 2-0
R4 Kithkin, Cedric Phillips breaks one off in me.....1-2 (See below for why)
R5 Jund Aggro, that deck just really can't beat us. 2-0
R6 5cc Old school, 0-2 Drop at 3-3 on the day goodbye DCI you will be missed......
I talked to many others if not every single G/w Tokens deck in the room, and people just were losing to the 5cc decks. Not to mention the random bad draw games, or if Fae decides to come out perfect two games in a row. In my last game with the R6 5cc player, I come out perfect....I mean PERFECT
keep 7...on the play
T1: Forest, Hierarch
T2: Wooded Bastion, Spectral Pro.
T3: Sunpetal, Wilt-Leaf take 6, Me 20, them 14
T4: Plains, Attack, Fallout, take 4 me 18, them 8..Cloadgoat..pass
T5: Attack, Cryptic Command.....Honor the pure....pass
T6: Attack Cryptic Command...pass
T7:Attack, Cryptic Command......pass
He windmill slams hallowed on his turn.....
T8: Steward, Pridemage gets countered
Esper Charm my Honor the Pure
T9: Hierarch, Hierarch, Swing Steward is a 4/4..on the stack..Fallout
T10: Broodmate
T11: I double drop, one gets counter the other doesn't,
T12: No cards in my hand, Hallowed B. baneslayer with Negate up....
I want die..... :-/:crying:
Next game I get stuck on 4 lands and his counter wall is strong as hell, not to mention after the game he shows me Firespout x3 Fallout x3 Hallowed B. x 4.......then counters out the ass....his only win conditions were 1 baneslayer, 2 Cruels, and an Obelisk of Alara.
There is light at the end of this bleak bleak...dark...bleak...damp..nasty tunnel....At the PTQ, I noticed a G/w Player in the last round playing to get into the Top 8. He was playing a buddy of mine who was running Elf Ball. Not Good for the G/W player....However, he T2 Cast Ethersworn Canonist...I was not surprised, I Had 3 in my board just for this deck...but then next turn...he cast Path, and lays Little Kid himself...Gaddock Tegg... That’s pretty much living large vs. Elf ball, because then they have to attack you in order to win, and well, needless to say....Our guys are bigger, and better....much better and much much bigger. Now here is the catch...I thought they were in game 2 and he just had really good Sideboard tech...turns out, he was playing our G/W list, just little kid instead...not Cloudgoat, no Spec. Pro, no overrun. But he got 4 Teeg, 4 Canonist main ( not in the SB) and 2 B. Sledge. After talking to the guy, he stated he had beaten 5cc 3 times to get to that spot, and between Canonist and Teeg, they really just can't win....He also stated he beat the only 2 5cc he played the day before as well. This is great news!! Because this gives us a way to play G/w Tokens, but he need to have our Sideboard change. 3 Canonist and 3 Teeg. This gives us changes...we only need Teeg to be alive for 1 maybe 2 turns, and then boom, we win.
((::side note:: My buddy won in game 3, Devoted Druid swinging for 1...get in there!!! ))
As promised: Cedric Phillips showing me he is the best Kithkin player.
So Cedric has: 4 Plains I Windbrisk 2 Figures of D. one is 2/2 and the other is a 1/1 in Play, 1 Card in hand.
He is something like 12, and I am at 8.
I have 6 cards in hand, Wilt-Leaf, Spec., Spec., Overrun, Steward, Honor the Pure. I have 4 Perfect mana, Kitchen Finks, and Steward in play.
What do you do???
I feel like I am going to win this game (which is game 3 btw) but this is such a killer play....I start to think back in all Cedric Phillips articles about how Board Position mattered most to him, and how he is not going to just swing his guys into a combat trick, or just path one of my blockers, and double swing just to do like 4/5 points of damage. I start to think about how and what he thought about Harm's way, and how good of a combat trick that would be on his part....So I make a play based on what I thought He was going to do...get better board position, by 1 of 2 things....Combat trick/kill one of my guys or pump his figures, lay A Kithkin, possible Cenn, making his guys 5/5's then Passing the turn, or swinging at me if he has the better board position....Or pump, pump, play Cloudgoat Ranger which could have been a monster....
So Anyway, I play my Wilt-Leaf..Now, I have a 5/4, and 2 4/4's. With Overrun in hand, thinking I am going to win if I draw a land, or just play my honor the Pure, and swing with a 6/5 and 2 5/5's. Ether Way I win...this works out great!! But it doesn't
I pass turn, Cedric Pumps, his 1/1 to a 2/2, then pumps it to a 4/4. Untaps, then lays his sixth land, pumps Figure to an 8/8 and swings.....:o:o:o:o:o
Sometimes, the simplest play...is the absolute best play....Why in the world did I not just lay Spec. and pass the turn you ask??? Well 1, it didn't even register in my think tank that he could just lay a land and kill me, I just kept thinking about his articles over and over again, about how Board position is all that matters...and if I have 3 5/5's that’s better board position then his 2 4/4's plus what ever he lays next...I mean If I draw a land I just overrun, and make him block or die, with him having only 1 card in hand. My odds are really good of winning this...If I lay Spec. Pro instead, he might draw Cenn, and force me to chump block or quad block on a creature, just to go 4 for 1 or worse. So yeah.....Be careful when you finally get the chance to test your skills against someone who is skilled enough to be well known....and start applying information they have written about in your play style. Because In can bite you in the ass just as much as it can win you the game.
I have 3 MD wraths, and a set of paths, and it's still not enough. I wrath, they just either negate it or drop a rafiq next turn and start hitting for 7, or like 20 if they have finest hour. I path, they're still gaining a ton of life each turn and I'm wasting all my spec tokens chumping endlessly, not being able to go on the offensive, which sucks because this deck is HORRIBLE, imo, when it is forced to play the defensive role.
Wow, I am surprised to see that you are having that much trouble. Most Bant decks have Tegg in their SB. So, what happens, is you keep a Fast to Med 7 card hand, play aggro, you only need 1 path to win. They are going to smash in for around 5 then 8, then your death....this is were you path. I have a good record vs. Bant. I always just play the Path at the right time, untap, overrun ...and win. Don't get excited and path a Monk early. If their monk hits you for 6 and they gain 6, just let it happen. You need to save that path for win Monk gets juiced by Freak and Finest Hour, then let them attack, stacking all the Exalted, then cast Path. Why you ask? They just spent all their mana to cast Finest Hour, so they can't counterspell. Then once you Path, they usely don't swing again...because...well, your about to cast Overrun and they are going to lose. If you have Ajani + Overrun...well its just really sick.
My average overrun is something like 22. The Bant deck takes soo much pain damage when they gain that 6 life...it usely puts them around 20 life. Now some times they have no pain lands at all...but you know what...sometimes, we Overrun for around 30. So....
Also I would like to add, I am not discrediting the Bant deck....It can..and sometimes will just Swing for Super High Life gaining numbers....with trample...and it just sux. But so do we...I turn 4/5 Overrun for game A LOT! So how do you think they feel when we do that? lol .:confused2::confused2::confused2:
Splashing Red is a horrible, horrible, and I repeat HORRIBLE Idea. If you wish to talk about G/W/R tokens, please do it in a different form. This form is for G/W Tokens, tier 1 stuff only please.
This is my current list, SB in all. So far I have done very well with this list. However, with the current meta game changing, so will this deck. Anthem is looking more and more appealing due to the rise of Fae. Most likely the 2 Stewards are going to be dropped for the 2 Anthems. Maybe all 3 Dauntless Escort will hit the SB and 2 Anthem +1 Cloudthresher will happen. Not really sure yet, still play testing, however with Fae doing so well, GW tokens is likely to fall greatly in numbers. There are just to many ways for Fae to kill this deck, with Agony Warp and Infest in full packages post board, this decks weakness are revealed. Hince why Dauntless Escort is a brick house vs. Jund, but Dauntless Escort can't save your guys from a -2/-2 off of a well placed Infest. But for that same reason is why I am play testing with Anthem, if all my dorks are 3/3's then no more insane Infest plays. But don't trade away your Dauntless Escort's yet, you still are going to need him for the RDW, and Jund Aggro/Ramp decks. I even find him great vs. G/W Tokens, when they can't Wrath of God. So good luck if you sticking with this deck despite all being said. Just remember, you deck has to be able to:
A) Beat Fae...whatever secret tech you might use, you must have a game plan.
B) Survive Jund Aggro/Ramp. Sometimes Forge-Tender just isn't enough.
C) Beat Swans. This deck can just roll use. Throw back those slow hands.
Swans: So I was wondering if everybody agrees what are somethings that can gain us life before they go off? fuedkillers verdict?
Ew hell no....What 4 Finks and 3 Ajani's isn't enough life gain for you? Also, may I suggest 4 Pridemages main and 3 P. Needle in the SB. The Swans deck here in my meta had hard times, because Life + Pridemage + P.needle, made it hard for him to win. Now I am not saying he didn't win any games, but its an up hill battle the whole entire way.
has any one noticed if the treetop land's coming into play tapped slowed down he deck at all? I know its a noob question but I don't have any and only want to buy some if they are really needed. Thanks
Tree Top is the Control n00b laser. Its soo soo soooooo good. Must run 4 of them.
I'm thinking about maindecking the 4th qasali pridemage but i'm not sure on what to cut? maybe an escort but maybe not. waddya think.
There are all kinds of little cuts in the deck you can make. A lot of list only run 3 Cloudgoats. Also, some of people, including myself, are only running 23 land instead of 24. Path is the most Popular removal right now..so having mana problems is few and far between. We cut a Plains, that way you don't lose out on turn 1 Noble. Plus I don't know how many Escort you are running, but 3 is the magic number.
So I haven't seen anyone talking about bad match ups. So I am going to, My list is the standard, but with 3 Overrun, 3 Ajani, 3 Path, I also am only running 3 Escort, and got 2 Steward of Valeron in there. They're pretty solid.
So bad match ups:
Turbo Fog: Everyone knows this match up sucks....but if you are running 4 Pridemages like you should be IMO, then this match up at least is playable. I know, I know we often side Pridemages out, but thats not the point, if you side them in game 2, and turbo fog won game one, the likeness of you winning game 2 and 3 for the big "W" is really slim. But if you won game 1, then Turbo Fog has no choice but to figure out how to beat you come game 2, then IF he wins, game three, just don't lose. Then at least its your draw round...it sucks and you have to win out from there, unless you are already X-0 in which case, just getting paired up was unlucky.
Fae: This is what I really want to talk about. no no...really. This match I can't stand. I have played against Fae more then I ever care to play any match up....ever....EVER. at this last PTQ in round 8, playing for 1st seat in the top 8, game 1 I get stuck on 1 Heights 2 plains. I played 2 Finks, 3 Paths (one on my own finks), and 2 Spec. He simple countered almost everything, Finks ran into a clique, I path, he Spellstuttered. GG. Game 2, my oppt mulls to 5. Yeah thats right. 3 land, BB and Broken Amp. He ends up winning the game with 5 top decks in a row showing once again, the color blue is the most broke color in magic. So, how do we play this match up???? Just keep laying land, destroy their Bitterblossum ASAP, then start double dropping? Or, Get the perfect 10 Cards, be on the play and win on turn 4? Yeah that sounds good..not....because if they broken amp. anywhere in that we don't win on turn 4. Sooo.....ideas??? Yes I do have 4 Gutteral in the SB. I am going to up to 4 Gutteral and 2-3 Cloudthreashers. Why you ask....did you guys see GP: Settle...Fae is going to be coming out of the wood work....again.....::sigh::
Jund Aggro/Ramp::R/B/RDW: This decks post board turns into, Lets kill everything decks. So I have 4 Tenders in the SB, along with 3 Escorts main, and the 4th in the SB. My only advice for this is don't over extend..and you'll do fine. Play your "protector" (Escort, Tender) first, then play your Spec. Pro. Then play the Liege. Also, don't ever play 2 of anything...unless its leathal THAT TURN. Make there Pulses go card for card. I played double Leige one game to put him at 1 or 2....he untaps cast pulse then Pyroclasm....he would have won but he for got about Treetop. Good times. Also, if you are running the Sledge....I can't see why not to bring it in...but I haven't needed one. So it kinda feels like way over kill.
Swans: Hope you have 4 Pridemages, and 2-3 P.Needle. Oh, and draw them....other then that, this deck is just a blow out, ither in your favor, or his. Try to win the die roll.....well...always try to win the die roll for that matter.
5cBlood: I haven't had any problems with this deck....The decks weakness is its too greedy. Leech + Cryptic...but man o man, if you make mistakes, this deck punishes just like a control deck. Beware of the Counter Tap your team...then they swing for a heavy number, like 16.
5CC/Meddling Control/5cPlaneswalkers: Thats how I feel about these decks. Sorry I don't have better advice. You either win because they are having some land problems, or you just win because they have no wrath effects...or you get totally blown out....
Sanity Grinding: This is a race. Gotta win the race. But if you over extend into Evac. you lose. If you don't path the Plumviel...you lost. If you don't play 4 Guttral Response.....you lose. Or they get mana screwed and you win
B/W Tokens: So I think this match up is a in our favor...something like 70-30 us. If we are on the play its like 90-10 maybe...lol. However, I played a guy this last PTQ that played different. He double ZP'ed just to wipe my board on my turn. Then 4 paths and 2 terrors later...well...that was just game one. I won games 2 and 3. It seems he SB'd wrong, because after all his removal, I played 1 Wrath to clean up his board too. After that, he seemed to draw just blank after blank after blank..and I won with a Cloudgoat that just beat him to death. But I brought it up because he was on to something....
Merfolk: It plays like Fae: Sorta. They hit harder. Sadly I haven't gotten to play vs. Merfolk if any at all, but I have got lucky enough to watch G/W Tokens on Merfolk. Merfolk won so.....yeah....
Ok well, I would really like some feed back. Hope this helps. I really, really like G/W Tokens. This season I have top 64'ed my Regionals, Top 8 at one PTQ and 13th at the last PTQ.(read the Fae section) Good Luck all, and beat face.
On a long shot, I really enjoy Gravepact. It allowed many fun and good times in my EDH fun times.

Thx.
4 Figure of Destiny
4 Gaddock Teeg
4 Kitchen Finks
4 Steward of Valeron
4 Wilt-Leaf Liege
4 Path to Exile
3 Oblivion Ring
4 Shield of the Oversoul
2 Pithing Needle
4 Brushland
3 Forest
8 Plains
4 Treetop Village
4 Wooded Bastion
56 cards
2 Burrenton Forge-Tender
3 Knotvine Paladin
2 Ranger of Eos
4 Scattershot Archer
1 Guttural Response
1 Oblivion Ring
2 Pithing Needle
15 cards
Now this is an old list, and needs to be updated, but you get the idea.
To be the most blunt and serious I can be, the cards that are killing us is Fallout backed up by Hallowed Burial.
Can anyone find a bullet proof solution to this problem? If you can, then G/W tokens is back on the market. Until then, is Forge-Tender/Honor the Pure, Teeg. Thats all we got. And if we are playing Teeg, then its G/w little kid, and not G/w Tokens. Sad but true.:-/
Hope that helps.
Have fun and beat some face!
On the 5k, it was::
2 Mono White Kithkin (which our deck surely barrel rolls)
2 5CC (old school style, Broodmates, Plumveil, 70 counter spells, you know the list.)
1 5CC Cascade (standard list)
1 Fae (duh...)
2 Elf Ball (not sure which version. Banefire/Coat of Arms/Druids)
So basically G/w Tokens can't win unless it gets lucky enough to play Kithkin, Kithkin, Elf ball, not in that order, AND have good draws every single game.
On the PTQ the next day::
1 5CC (Old school Quick and toast + new hotness)
1 5CC Cascade
1 5CC (mostly old school, but played Jace + Ajani V.) Won the PTQ, BTW!
1 Elf Ball (druids)
1 Elf Ball (Coat/Mirror Einity/Banfire 1 of each)
1 Elf Ball ( Overrun )
1 Kithkin (mono white)
1 Jund Aggro (Tribal, CC, Nameless, Ram Gang, etc)
So here again we have the same problem, we Need to play Kithkin, and Jund Aggro, then Hope the Elf Ball, or 5CC we see get mana screwed or hindered in some great way that allows us to win....with luck not skill.
:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
My day went like this,
R1 5cc old school, Lose 0-2
R2 Jund Aggro, they can't win 2-0
R3 Jund Aggro, They can't win 2-0
R4 Kithkin, Cedric Phillips breaks one off in me.....1-2 (See below for why)
R5 Jund Aggro, that deck just really can't beat us. 2-0
R6 5cc Old school, 0-2
Drop at 3-3 on the day goodbye DCI you will be missed......
Have fun guys, and beat face!!!
Good luck and beat face.

B) Survive Jund Aggro/Ramp. Sometimes Forge-Tender just isn't enough.
C) Beat Swans. This deck can just roll use. Throw back those slow hands.

Good Luck and Beat Face.;)
Ew hell no....What 4 Finks and 3 Ajani's isn't enough life gain for you? Also, may I suggest 4 Pridemages main and 3 P. Needle in the SB. The Swans deck here in my meta had hard times, because Life + Pridemage + P.needle, made it hard for him to win. Now I am not saying he didn't win any games, but its an up hill battle the whole entire way.
Tree Top is the Control n00b laser. Its soo soo soooooo good. Must run 4 of them.
