Life distracted me. Is it too late for ms to hop in with teleport error or something?

Mar notices the lack of competition in the handshake, and approves. This promises to be a good partnership He also takes the raised hand as tacit approval to examine it, from a distance of course. He's not nearly impolite enough to grab someone else's hand, even if there is a rather impressive system for filtering mana on it. "Fascinating. I admit that I have a small interest in the bonds, literal and otherwise, that hold the world together. If we were not pressed for time I would like to take a closer look at how it filters. And speaking of pressed for time, I will need to stop by Frankie's for a few moments, but other than that I am ready to begin as soon as you are; I do not anticipate that it will take long to pick up what I need."

[OOC]Do I need to actually go to Frankie's/wheerever to redeem the quest reward, or can I just have that happen offscreen once the quest threads go up and mention that I picked up something in my first post there?[/OOC]

As Cyouni draws closer, Mar takes the opportunity to quickly evaluate the man he has been paired with, taking a moment before placing him as the one with the distinctly glowing hand, then recalling the spirit he summoned to recover from the Orb's obliteration. Overall, not someone to be trifled with, but then, neither am I. I think I can work with him.

"As am I," Mar replies, offering his hand to shake, "though I was not often at the House. That is an interesting tattoo you have; does it channel your spells or just your power? But I forget my manners. I am Mar Johan, but please, call me Mar." Mar smiles, genuinely. "I am ready to begin the hunt to those who would assault the foundations of the City as soon as you are."

Mar nods assent and waits for the inevitable formation of the groups - whether established by group consensus or the necessities of the destinations or the assignations of the leaders.

Mar, who had up to now been standing quietly off to the side and probing at the site the orb appeared at to try and sense any lingering connections, moves closer to where the leaders are so that he can better hear whatever it is they are about to say. Along the way, he scoops a small amount of the dust caused by the orb's demise into a pocket in the exterior of his bag, just in case it could come in handy someday, and answers the just asked question on his way. "Most of us were. As I recall, it appeared with a bang, foreshadowed by a rising pain. "

Mar is not a stranger to madness, but he is also not a stranger to ignoring unwanted feelings - and the effects of the Orb's madness are contained quickly enough, though not without sacrifice.
But Mar perseveres, and though he reacts too late to aid against the goblins he is not discomforted enough to not increase his ring of lands, nor enough to not respond to the notice of attack - even though it is clearly not meant for him. "In a few minutes more, perhaps."
And then he sees the twin streams directed towards it, and feels a momentary feeling of ... something that is almost unease.
And thus he subtly shifts, bracing himself against whatever the Orb should leave behind when it's lights fade.

GM2, Vishamon, DarkNightCavalier, Cyouni, and HyrkanianBlade are yet to post unless I'm overlooking something, though I believe GM@ did miss a pair of updates. Without a strict time limit, though, I would guess that the next update will be in a timeframe similar to that between the last two. But that's just a guess, its really up to Caex.

And speaking of things that are up to Caex, does this orb have a graveyard, or are its spells non-card copies? Out of curiosity, in case targeting something there were relevant.

Mar is almost tempted to be rather discourteous when his circle of tile abruptly shrinks and returns to being rubble. But, as he picks himself off the ground, he merely sighs and readjusts his grip on his staff. The ground immediately around him turns to swamp once more, and again he waits.

OOC: I think you may have left out a word there, unless you meant to be threatening, Silence.

Mar, seeing one goblin obliterated by an obelisk and the other fall to the undead, took his eyes off the orb to instead evaluate once more what his role in this combat should be. As such, he wasn't paying too much attention to the new goblins' cheers, and was blindsided by the attack. Rather annoyed at letting himself fall vulnerable, he still managed to crack his assailant's head with his staff, but in the moments he took to recover from his shock he decided he should perhaps take a more active role.

Deciding this, he reached into his pack momentarily, and called upon a thread leading from one of the rocks inside, a thread that pierced the Blind Eternities and opened a conduit. Mar allowed himself a small smile at the hole that appeared before him. A fraction of a second later, an insistent wail burst forth from the representation of the well. Another fraction of a second, and an angel clad for battle sprung up and out of the well, coming to a hover just above and to the right of Mar.

And then, never one to shy away from potentially beneficial situations, Mar tosses a quick request out to the clearly experienced man with the soldiers. "I don't suppose you'd mind helping me out with that lantern of yours if that thing hexes my angel?"

Take the hit, then counterattack with melee for 1 to kill my attacker.

    Play [carc]Miren, the Moaning Well[/card].
    Cast Baneslayer Angel

    Then wait.

Mar continues to observe the orb, content for now to wait until his particular strengths are needed. The circle of altered terrain at his feet creeps out a fraction more, And while he keeps a wary wye on the gOblins the orb just summoned, he is not particularly concerned. Not surprising, given the
    Many mages present.

Play My fourth godless shrine. I now have 4, 1 tapped.

Mar stands by, watching as some of the assembled summoned forces fall.
However, he does naught but watch as the tile under his feet creeps outwards a little more.

Mar sighs, seeing how many of the present continue to summon new creatures to the rubble. "Nobody ever listens."
He then examines the orb, attempting to see if it holds any connections that could be attacked. As he does so, the circle of tile at his feet creeps outwards slowly.

Play a second [card]Godless Shrine[\card] I now have two. One is untapped.

With the cessation of pain comes the realization that this is only the start. Mar quickly evaluates what he sees, and doesn't like it. And he knows that while he posses the means to come back from the brink, he cannot say the same for others - and it is likely this Orb will take all to take down.
So he walks forwards at a calm pace, deciding that he should save his efforts for the next wave, as this one appears to be well in hand, and makes towards a pair that have just dealt with their foes.
"There is always time for pleasantries. Without them, we are no better then them." Mar gestures towards the fallen goblins, which had done nothing but scream incoherently, as he spoke. "And pleasantries allow us to do things, such as request that none bring more servants to the field until after that thing's next summons."
That last is pitched loudly enough to carry to the other mages.
Seeing as how there's enough creatures and players to deal with this wave, Mar's going to do nothing this combat round except walk over to Tai

Mar snaps out of the trance he'd fallen into, woken by a strange pain, a pain that he should not be feeling. It... hurts. Never before has Mar been unable to vent excess mana, and this is shocking. So he attempts to ground himself, and the ground immediatly under his feet takes on the ornate tiles of an Orzhova holding.

    It doesn't help.

Trying to see through the pain, and more specifically the water forming in his eyes, he does his best to try and see the flow of mana, and see why it it overloading.

But mostly he is reeling from the pain.

Whwlp, I've been distracted. But I'm back now, and Mar is not happy at the pain.
I'll take a land behind, since I think I can deal, and I'll lay down a godless shrine. Tapped.
