Hey folks, I have a quick question for you guys regarding art supplies; is there an online shop with killer prices that you guys swear by? Although I've been advocating Michael's in my articles and whatnot, I feel that it's simply a great place to have new people start, but as I've expanded my stockpile of art supplies, paying retail really isn't my cup of tea.
I'm currently looking for some of the copic multiliners (http://www.copicmarker.com/items/black-multiliner-set-a-2) and I'd also like to give airbrushing a whirl at some point, which seems pricey.
Send me a DM if you have a chance to help a brother out!
Btw, May review is somewhat late, but will be up this week...trying to polish it off tonight. There will be a smattering of new faces represented this time out too, so stay tuned to SCG!
If it is basically one thin layer, I just go over it if I need to fix something. If there are more than a few coats of paint, like when building up layers towards full opacity, or when there is a back art and then spell effect work over top of it like the piece in question, then I would carefully scrape away a few areas to fix up. (eg. the frost titan I documented in one of my articles)
Essentially, if it`s starting to look a little thick or cakey, then you should be stopping to fix it as opposed to making it worse. It`s obvious that you know what I mean, as your first attempts showed signs of caked on paint, whereas your recent work seems to have smoothed out a lot.
Hey guys,
I'm planning on using a bunch of work from a pretty large number of the community in my future articles and instead of messaging everyone individually to ask permission (as I have with poxy, klug, sandreline etc.), I thought it'd be easier to just mention it here. Links will obviously be provided to your personal galleries from the images used but if you take issue with this, let me know and I either won't showcase your stuff or I'll have it removed if it has already been published.
Thanks all,
Jeremy Froggatt
Glad to see you back Sixten, and in regards to your assessment of me as being a professional, you couldn't be farther off base. Compared to a majority of the alterers in the thread, I am but a wee sprog. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
It's great you're back and over the 'defeat', but honestly...you were not, and are not defeated. You have a pretty large following and are known of by almost the whole internet-wielding magic player base. Keep making your strips and we'll keep reading them. Promise.
Is there anyone around that uses prismacolor art markers successfully? I know Cardkitty does but my emails have gone unanswered several times in the past, just busy I guess.
I'm looking for a sort of how-to guide / walkthrough as to how these markers can be utilized.
The main issue I'm having, is that I'll start working on a border and it's apparant that it will take several layers to hide the border, but I'd have to wait overnight for each layer to dry - whereas I could have the whole card done that night in acrylics.
Any ideas? These things were expensive, I don't want them to go to waste!
@robothouse - I got a kit of those markers for xmas, tried to put it on a card but it was really liquidy and translucent. I'm assuming you HAVE to erase the area you're working on to get it to stick properly?
That water is beautiful Sandreline. It's too bad you lot are in Europe, I'd love to hang out with you guys and learn some stuff, would also make for a good article!
I could probably do this 'compendium' on my site once I get everything sorted out. Whatever the community wants of course though.
End goal would be to have the site a single hub of the entire altering community.
I just don't feel a thread (while it has been effective thus far) really encompasses everything that our community needs. Send me emails with ideas and whatnot...jfroggatt at persona dot ca
@lcbusybug and Masamune
A one stop altering website has been on my mind since I began writing at Starcity and I'm slowly starting to put it together. I currently have the site as just my personal altering stuff right now but if there is interest from you guys and the other prominent community members, I'll start porting it over to a mass altering hub. This is not meant to replace this thread by any means, but just supplement it by having all the information, articles and images for people to glean in one location after spending their time in here.
Please let me know what you guys think either here or directly: jfroggatt at persona dot ca, @jerfroggatt on twitter or PM in here.
Cheers
Besides that, deck looks solid and your quality writing didn't go unnoticed.
Cheers!

Also, are you going to the TCGplayer event in Toronto next weekend? I'm trying to line up child care so I can get down there.
Cheers,
