No spells are being cast in this scenario, so I have no idea what you're asking.

I think he means the creature spells, after Lich's ability has resolved. If that's the case, then yes you have to pay the mana cost for both creatures.

ok how does revenge of the hunted work with champion of lamholt majority of the time the champion is bigger than opponets creatures so can they still block or no?

Revenge of the Hunted says "all creatures able to block this turn do so" - if they aren't able to block because of a restriction on another card, they simply don't block.

kind of new to the rules but can i use tooth and nail to bring progenitus into the playing field? i was also thinking if that doesn't work how is channel of the suns work?

The protection ability doesn't apply until he is on the Battlefield, so it has no effect on Tooth and Nail.

Also, Tooth and Nail doesn't do any of the things that Protection stops, so it wouldn't matter anyways (DEBT: Damage, Enchant, Block, Target).

    Gilded Lotus

Hi all. This is just a simple question regarding wording of Gilded Lotus... Its says "Add three mana of any one color to your mana pool."

Try as I might I cant seem to understand what that means. Does it mean I add only ONE mana of any color, i.e. BBB or GGG or UUU etc, or do I have the option of mixing the three floated mana, like RBU, WRG etc....

One color, 3 mana. So UUU, GGG, etc.

    Quote from Swindle
Is it possible to like use the innistrad block 2x faced card markers for a card that is not 2x faced?

Like for example using it for a foiled kor firewalker

    Situation:

I used a pentel pen to mark the marker card "Kor Firewalker", then when I cast it I pull out my foiled kor firewalker from my deck box.

Is this legal in big tournaments? Grin

    Thanks in advance Grin

No. The rules specifically give permission for the Checklist cards to represent double-faced cards. This doesn't extend to any other cards.

  • posted a message on Milling by Drawing + Niv-Mizzet
If I'm reading it right, you both are drawing 21 cards from a library with less than that. So you will both lose as a result of the State Based Action of drawing from an empty library, resulting in a draw.

    Quote from Wike900
Erm... What happens? Dream Halls says X must be zero, but Mind Grind says it cannot be zero? Does the ability fizzle?

Dream halls no longer says "X must be zero" - it's inferred from you casting it "without paying the mana cost" (any card that has a similar effect will make X = 0).

You simply won't be able to cast the spell.

No, colorless is not a color. The difference between Command tower and something like Reflecting Pool is it says "type" instead of color.

    Quote from Hwangman
I wanted to clarify how Sovereigns of Lost Alara's effect works in combat. Since it says "Whenever a creature you control attacks alone..." the search for an Aura triggers during the Declare Attackers step, right? If my opponent has priority and zaps Sovereigns, does the attacking creature still get the chance to search for the Aura?

If they do something to kill your Sovereigns after you have declared an attacker, the ability will be on the stack already (and abilities resolve whether the source is still around or not).

And yes it happens during Declare Attackers step. They have do have a change to do something then during the Begin Combat step, but if they pass priority then you will get the trigger.

Okay, I got what you are saying now sorry about my confusion. I am relatively new to MTG so it helps when it is barney style on a chalkboard.

The other question I had was since he has protection from werewolves can he block with the inquister, if he can is it just my werewolf that takes damage since he has protection.

    Again sorry for my newbness.

If you have the Inquisitor and he attacks with Nightfall Predator you can block just fine. Damage to the Inquisitor is prevented and it deals damage as normal.

Now if you are on the attack, he can't block the Inquisitor.

(Woops, sorry I just noticed you say he had the Inquisitor, but the description is still correct. The Inquisitor can block a Werewolf, but a Werewolf can't block the Inquisitor)

    Quote from Gashnaw
I was just wondering Would Mindcrank Activate with Patron of the Nezumi if the card going to the graveyard being a Creature, Land. enchantment, or Artifact? Or does permanent only count if it is on the field? Its never been asked by myself since i have never really needed to know.

It's only a permanent on the battlefield. If they lose a life, they will mill cards, but nothing will trigger the Patron off those cards going from library->graveyard.

  • posted a message on Radiant, Archangel and Slagstorm question
    Quote from sshock2
I have a question, I have Radiant, Archangel and 2 1/1 spirit tokens in play and based off of Radiant's ability, she is a 5/5. My opponent casts Slagstorm and chooses to do 3 damage to each creature, killing both spirit tokens. We both disagree on whether Radiant, Archangel lives or dies. Please help!

Damage stays marked on creatures until the cleanup step, so it dies.

It's going to destroy the tokens when State based actions are checked, and then they are checked again and Angel is now only a 3/3 with 3 damage marked on it and is destroyed. Note that no one gets priority in between the tokens dying and the angel dying.

    Quote from Madmaardigan
Just curious is Rhox Faithmenders double life gain ability a triggered ability and just so I understand if that IS the case would multiples work like this:

    EX.

3x Rhox Faithmender on board, then I drop a Thragtusk. Abilities would trigger after Thragtusk resolves I pick an order for them to trigger and then it would be gain 10, gain 20, gain 40, for a total of 70 life?

I think this may be wrong, but I'm just curious

You are confusing what Faithmender actually does.

Faithmender's "doubling" ability (which is not a trigger, it is a replacement effect) doesn't gain you the life, it just modifies how much life you gain. For instance with a single Faithmender out, if you play a Thragtusk, you gain 10 life instead of 5. You don't gain 5 and then get a Faithmender trigger that gives you 10 more, it's just 10 period.

    Quote from Sparki
Say I have three lands in play, one of which is City of Traitors. I play a Darkslick Shores. Does it come into play tapped or untapped?

The City of Traitors has a trigger, so Darkslick shores will be in play by the time you sacrifice it. It will be tapped.

Note that the Oracle wording says "When you play a land" as opposed to the original card text.
