Just curiosity: ANyone knows what was of TheFourHorsemen? He has been out of the forums for more than eight months.

TheFourHorsemen never responded to some requests I sent directly to his/her email. I figured real life got in the way of things. Quite a shame too, as he/she had some great work.

Absolutly, Its very possible for me to tear it up... But I wont. Just as I wont do the so called "Bend test" or any other irreversible tests. I'm aware of how I aquired the card, and trust me I was just as shocked as everyone else. I even thought maybe someone had managed to slip a fake into a sealed pack, in a sealed box. Sent MArk Zug an email see if maybe he would be willing to sign it for me. I have no intention of selling or using the card for anything other than my own collection. This would have to be the biggest most elaborate hoax ever and to what gain? so it can sit in a sleeve in my card binder? lol.

Might have already been suggested, but have you tried the light test? Doing that it should be fairly easy to tell if its real or fake and it's easy to photograph. Just a thought.

I'm looking to sell off a large portion of my collection and found this gem:

Any thoughts on what I should be asking for this? The card is NM otherwise.

NO SCHOOL TODAY BECAUSE OF SNOW.

TO CELEBRATE DID A FEW ALTERS.

I really like the effects on those Tops T. Especially the snow one. Most snow alters just look like someone place snow on the card, and the snow itself is dripping off. Your alter actually makes it look like icicles. Nice!

This game seems like it was very plot-driven, with the game being developed around the story, rather than the other way around. Also, the adult theme I think will go a long way to convince the naysayers that video games CAN be art (although the same people will claim the game promotes adultery to children).

What does everyone else think? Personally, I can't wait to pick it up and I don't even like playing console games. Smile

It seems that they're going to keep the history and just ignore random things that are no longer convenient, like Barbara being a cripple. Excuse me, but that was a DEFINING moment in the DC Universe.

Nice. You say it is important, but then you proceed to diminish the importance of Barbara as a character by calling her a "cripple". Nice.

Also, if you've actually read anything, you would know that The Killing Joke still happened. Barbara was still shot and lost the use of her legs. She was still Oracle. She's regaining the use of her legs through rehabilitation and comic-science.

In principle, the idea of a reboot is a good one, for reasons already stated on this thread. If I were running my own superhero universe (and this is something I've given way too much thought), I'd do a reboot every ten or twenty years. No in-continuity reboot nonsense like DC's various Crises, just give the characters' story arcs suitable climaxes and then start telling a different version of the story. Like finishing one retelling of the King Arthur legend, then picking up another.

The thing I'm skeptical about is whether DC is going to write story-ending climaxes for its characters before rebooting them. This rarely if ever happens when franchise reboots, and I think it's understandable that some fans get upset when the writers do it that way. Nobody likes to have a story left hanging; Shahrazad bet her life on this fact. But if DC is smart about this, they could take the opportunity to deliver the fans some truly epic adventures the likes of which were previously only seen in Elseworlds titles: the public unmasking of Batman, the final showdown between Darkseid and Orion, the heroic and actually-definitely-final-and-meaningful death of Superman.

So yeah, I'm going to try and be optimistic. And as for Superman and Lois Lane no longer being married, I never really read Superman, so I don't care.

This. Blinking Spirit's suggestions holds a lot of weight and could be extremely successful as long as readers aren't just seeing the same stories rehashed over and over again. Unfortunately, nostalgia is THE thing that drives superhero comics in a lot of ways. It's definitely good to acknowledge the feeling brought about by continuity but not good to wallow in it.

Mrwildspeak's comment is something everyone who is worried should try to follow. This is happening; there is nothing we can do about it. Pick up books you may be vaguely interested in, including the characters you are most worried about. Give them a few months to establish a story. If you still aren't interested, put your money elsewhere.

I, for one, am stretching my comics budget so I can give as many DCnU titles a try. When it comes down to it, I read comics for the stories told and the art shown. I love continuity, probably more than a lot of people and pride myself on my comics knowledge. But I know things have to change if we want the industry to get stronger.

A few of my first alters

Good to see you've finally put these up! I saw plenty I have yet to see in person. Glad the Karn made it up. You should consider getting the owner to commission a Karn Liberated. Smile

Ah TheFourHorsemen. I miss seeing his alters in this thread... does anyone know if he's still doing alters?

Agreed. I've sent TFHM various requests for alters (when I had the money) via MTGS, email, etc and I never got any response. :/ I also believe someone posted either in this thread or the trade thread that they sent a card in for an alter and never heard back. I think something bad may have happened or just got super busy with real life. :/

TFHM is among my favorites with CK, Yawg, Klug, and Masamune (who also rarely posts here anymore).

Wow, people hate Stump's signature? I think it is appropriate to put his signature on the altered cards and I don't really think that he should remove...erm... exile them from his cards. Perhaps he could do them a little bit smaller?

TheFourHorsemen had the same issue when he/she first started posting here. Once this forum was able to convince TFHM that the signature needed to be smaller, the quality of the art greatly improved. Large, distracting signatures don't ruin a card, but they detract from the beauty of the alter.

See CardKitty, Yawg, and Klug for great examples on how to minimize your signature without compromising your work on the card.

Dear Bristol, you're a generous with compliments to other alterers, but we should do the same with you.. Your style is absolutely original and the results are really fantastic!

Cheers for that Slime over all !!

Bristol is the most critical of all the alterers here. I love it when he tears someone down. :p

In all seriousness, I've missed your stuff man. That slime is beautiful!

I hope a mod doesn't yell at me for this, but I wanted to get an opinion from a few of you all.

I'm planning to do another alternate art Stoneforge Mystic, but I'm having trouble deciding on an actual pose.

Out of the sketches below, which would you most like to see in actual card form?

There are a few more pages of sketches located here.

    Bottom Left. Looks smexy. Smile

Please don't type in text-speak. Whatever time you saved in typing this, you more than made up for it in people having to decode what you're asking. -Carsten
