So, i'm considering getting a tattoo of the Godsmack IV album art on my back, between my shoulderblades. Instead of actually having the IV from this picture though, I want it just to have that celtic knot in the center, rather than the actual Roman numberals. It'll also have the black background faded in around it.

Additionally, I want to get ear piercings. On my left, ear, i'll have the lobe pierced similar to the picture, with a smaller gauge though. That ear will also have the two rings on the side like that guy, and a bar across the top where the spikes would be. My right ear will have the lobe pierced, and the five spikes across the top.

    Thoughts?

I've only used 3 of the pokémon on your list, so I'm just going to comment on them.

First of all Vaporeon. It is my favorite pokemon so I feel like I have some experience on it. In fact Otrera my Female Lvl 100 Vaporeon recently turned one year old.

Your moveset is horrible. You almost never want to have two moves of the same type on the same pokemon. If your going to use a water move it should always be your strongest one. In this case drop Hydro Pump. That move has horrible accuracy.

Hydro Pump has 120 power at 80% accuracy. Accounting for misses that is a 96% power attack.
Surf has 95 Power and 100% accuracy. So by giving up 1% average damage you will always hit your opponent. Seems like a good deal for me. (and it has 3 times the pp!)

Now go to the cassinos and play Voltorb flip until you can buy TM 13, also known as the best damn Ice move in pokemon. Ice Beam. Everything I said about Surf VS Hydro Pump applies to the Ice Beam vs Blizzard debate. But Blizzard has a 70% accuracy. so it averages out to 84 Power. Where as Ice beam has 95 power and hits all the time.

After that it gets a bit tricky. The other two moves you want on Vaporeon (Wish and Hidden Power Electric) you have to breed onto them. Failing that you can go to the frontier front and pay 32 battle points to have one of the move tutors teach your Vaporeon Signal Beam. Which is a 75Atk/100% bug move that will help against Dark and Psychic types.

I agree with all of this, but I am far too lazy for breeding. What do you suggest for a fourth move in its place? For the life of me i've been looking through it's possible moves on Bulbapedia and I can't find a good one.

    Onto Gengar!

I've fallen in love with gengar in this game. He is so fricken good. You want a timid/modest one if possible. Your move set isn't really all that good either. Get 252 Special Attack EVs and 252 Speed EVs and you will have an awesome special sweeper.

    Hypnosis > Dream Eater
I see this on quite a few gengar teams, and it's not that good of a combination. 1. You are dependent on your hypnosis going off for this attack to be useful. Hynposis only works 60% of the time.
    2. If your opponent switches out/wakes up in the turn you attack, you basically got Time Walked.
    3. Dream Eater is a psychic type move, so you don't get same type attack bonus on it. Psychic is good against against Fighting type Pokemon (you are immune to fighting type by being a ghost) and Poison type attacks (you take half damage from poison types) as a result this isn't that great of an attack.
    4. In competitive battling (this one might not apply to you) there is something called the sleep clause. THis means you can only put one of your opponents Pokemon asleep at anytime. If you violate this rule you lose the match. So your opponent can just switch out after you put one pokemon to sleep and they have nuilified half of your Gengar.
    5. This isn't to say don't use hypnosis, Hypnosis is a great move.

Ghosts can't hit Normal type pokemon. Which really sucks. Ghost are also weak to dark type moves. Which really sucks. YOu know what those two types have in common, they are week to fighting. Focus blast is a 120 Atk/70% Special attack fighting move. It covers two of Gengar's weaknesses and is available by TM 52 which you can buy from goldenrod.

Your using Shadow Ball, awesome its a great move.

Finally there are a couple of moves you can use in the fourth slot. I use thunderbolt here, Other things can be aruged but Water and flying types are common.

Agreed. Thanks for the heads up.

    Scizor

This isn't one of my favorite pokemon, but it is the best pokemon in the OU meta game.

It looks like you are planning to use your scizor as a Attack Sweeper, which is fine, it's great for that.

The standard moveset for such a pokemon is

Sword Dance (learns at level 57)
Bullet Punch (Get a heart scale and go to the move relearner to get this)
    Brick Break/Super Power
    Bug Bite/Roost/Quick Attack

That is the standard moveset for the pokemon. It is very important that your scyther has the ability Technician Which boosts the Attack of any move with less than 60 base power by 50%. If possible try to get an adamant one.

Sword Dance and Superpower are sick together, I agree. And Technician makes Bullet Punch a beast, likewise for Bug Bite. I hadn't even paid heed to that special ability; again, thanks for pointing it out.

    Thanks for your input!

Hey all. I recently bought a DS purely for a kiddie flashback and went ahead and bought Pokemon Heartgold to go with it. What do you think are the best Pokemon in that generation, and whyso?

So far, the 7 that I alternate inbetween are...

Dragonite: It's just got a really high average stat. EV training to get it's two defenses up, and even though it doesn't go first often, it doesn't matter. Throw a quick claw on it and ☺☺☺☺ gets silly. My learnset: Fireblast vs its ice weakness, blizzard vs its ground and electric weakness, giga impact to make use of that high ass attack, and outrage, because it kicks ass.

Forretress: This thing only has a single weakness (to fire) and can learn a move that thrashes it. With super high defenses, I include it in my team to use explosion on any pokemon i'm not prepared for. My learnet: Earthquake (its afraid of fire), Gyro Ball, Explosion, and Mirror Shot.

Scizor: Same as above. It's got nearly no weaknesses, but this guy has a great attack on him. Do some EV training to get his speed up, and he becomes a beast. My learnset: X Scissor (he gets same type attack bonus, so this is a beast), U turn, bug buzz, iron head.

Vaporeon: This is a meta choice. My friends use lots of rock/fire pokemon. I didn't want to be cheap and use suicune though. My learnset: Hydropump, Muddy Water, Blizzard (against grass weakness), and Surf.

Alakazam: This guys speed and special attack are retarded good. So many people use him though, I three shadow ball into the learnset for the mirror match. Learnset: Shadow Ball, Psychic, Substitue, Hyper Beam.

Gengar: Love this guy. Great speed and special attack, and hypnosis and dream eater are sick. Learnset: Hypnosis, Dream eater, Shadow Ball, and Destiny Bond (similar to explosion, for pokemon I just can't handle).

Last, and the only legendary I ever use, is Raikou: Similar to Jolteon, who is praise for ridiculous speed and special attack ratio, he is 5 points slower, but has 10 extra special attack points. Learnset: Thunder, Discharge, Charge Beam, Thunderbolt.

What're the best Pokemon in your opinion?

I think you all are taking Neon_Lights' question rather too seriously.

He's already made the assumption that this relationship is going nowhere. He knows that if he doesn't break it off now, it will die anyways from the various fundamental differences between the two. He even stated that.

The question he's posing is: "Do I continue to bone her until I move away, or do I dump her now and not have to worry about it?"

Sir, I say boink away. If she shares no interests that you do, she's either in it for the social status/financial security that smart guys have to offer, or she, also, is in it for the sex. Ride it until the end, man.

EDIT: For personal curiosity, I'd also like to second Blue Warlock's question: exactly how hot are we talkin'?

Bah. You'd figure, being Polish and having half my family able to speak, i would too. Sadly, about all I know is 'to good health' and 'be right back' in Polish....and I can't even begin to guess how to spell them.

  • posted a message on How did you learn social skills.
Eh, IRL, I have a very outgoing personality. My posts come off as pretty pessimistic and non-social a lot of the time, but i'll blame my diction for that Slant

As far as talking to women go, that's just a matter of confidence. ROTC helped me with that a little bit. I was already confident to begin with, but when you get promoted and end up leading a few hundred students and most of the events the corps holds....you get a little better at it.

As far as general socializing goes....I've pretty much grown up in the city. Inner city, semi-public school. (I say semi because at one point it was a decent school, but bad administration stopped entry restrictions and everyone was able to get in when I attended). You learned how to face certain groups, or you made enemies. There was little choice.

In my opinion, however, both of those were just kinda minor boosts. I've always been good at socializing and getting people to like me. I think it's just one of those things you have or you don't, and it takes some people a long time to realize that they do, in fact have it.

  • posted a message on Lets boycott subway!
    Quote from pervythemilkman
Alright, I'm sure all of you know how subway is famous for the $5 footlongs. So they make all of their footlongs $5 for a couple months, getting you all good and addicted to the chicken bacon ranch. Now this is a pretty good sub, but quiznos still has better subs. However, when I go get lunch every day, I will go get the chicken bacon ranch, because it is only $5, and I can afford that. Plus, it doesn't taste bad, unlike all the other subs at subway.

This is where the problem starts. This week, subway raised all their prices again. The chicken bacon ranch is now $7. That is an extra two dollars a day that I have to pay for lunch now, and in this economy, who can afford that? Subway is a bunch of greedy, money-hungry bastards. They could continue selling their footlongs for $5 forever, it would be a decent price, and they would continue to make TONS of money. However, I refuse to pay $7 for a sub that I didn't even think was worth $5 in the first place. Now if I want to eat cheap for lunch, I have to throw healthy out the window and eat at burger king. Post here if you are also disgusted with the horrible price of $7 for a sub, and would like to express your rage at subway. If we all boycott subway, they'll be forced to lower their prices!

It's called business. That's the whole damn point. Get everybody hooked, then stop your 'sale'. People do it, everywhere.

As to the point of economy, whoever mentioned making your own food was correct. If you want to spend $5 on lunch every day, have a blast, but that's YOUR priority. It's not the business' place to make all your food for whatever price you arbitrarily demand.

Also, as far as keeping it at $5 forever goes, you have no idea. It's called inflation. Things start costing more, and as such, prices raise to compensate the difference. If they stayed at $5 forever, you're correct, they'd have tons of customers. But they'd no longer make any money, and would go out of business. Way to go.

And no, you won't be able to force them, as widespread as they are, to lower their prices through boycotting.

Personally? I love subway vs. quiznos, and i'm sure there are many like myself.

    Quit griping.

    Quote from Amadi
    We have neither.

Instead I boil a few eggs, slice them, fry some bacon, put some garlic and butter on a bread, top it with the sliced egg and bacon and eat it while listening to good jazz, drinking fresh orange juice, and reading the newspaper.

Best way to spend your mornings ever.

Indeed! I'm similar when i'm awake early enough to enjoy a decent meal. I prefer the bread toasted and no bacon; instead of the boiled eggs I usually scramble them up with mushrooms, onion, and peppers. If i'm feeling good i'll throw in a bit of four-cheese and creole seasoning for a little spice.

Coffee > Orange Juice, but you can't beat Jazz and current events ;-)

As to the OP: I prefer IHOP. As similarly stated, it all depends on the individual store, but I prefer IHOP because i'm a pancake fanatic. That, and the local Denny's sucks pretty hard.

And ah, Pokershark. I want to say I hope you don't get in trouble for posting that... but I'm afraid it's quite certain you can't take back horrifying everyone else with you, personally, by that admission. :S

(unless that was all lolz. Which at this point, you're going to have to say, truth or lie.

    lolz.)

It was less joke and more making a point. Previously in this thread, I forget who and am WAY too lazy to look it up, somebody said that while everybody thinks they know what they'd do, they wouldn't know until it actually happens. I'm expanding on that with a little bit of hyperbole. Everybody can say they'd rob a bank, but they really wouldn't. They wouldn't have the nerve to actually plan and do so and endager their last few hours. Nobody would really do this outlandish stuff.

You know what I *think* i'd actually do?

Well, I seriously would get sloshed about an hour or two before time. But before that, i'd write a will. I'd call all of my friends and tell them it was a blast, i'd spend time with my family, and i'd call all of the people i'd wronged and apologized. I'd cry, quite a bit; you would too, to realize that after working full time, going to school full time, and spending your entire life trying to make something of your life, you were going to die before it would come to be.

After that, I'd grab all of my friends, all of my ex or current lovers, all of my family, and have a huge, fun time before I died.

And i'd hug my puppy Frown

EDIT: Also, i'm surprised that i've yet to be infracted, despite my post being deleted.

I'm not entirely sure this is the correct forum for this discussion topic, but what would your idea for a funny character be (beyond the obvious combinations of halfling barbarian, half-orc wizard, etc)?

My current idea, for a campaign I will be joining in around a month, is Human Bard 1/ Archivist 11 by the name of George Michael. Ill have tons of points in charisma, as well as perform (vocal), perform (guitar/lute), and skill focus (guitar). Ill have the leadership feat coupling my high charisma to induce hordes of wenches to follow and do my bidding. I will also make a point of using dark knowledge to stun creatures by the word Babie (which I have a sound recording of from his song 'Faith').

So for filling my prayerbook with lots of fun spells, all I have to do is the following?

    1) Find a willing arcane magic user to work with.
    2) He provides the spell as I scribe the scroll and pay the associated costs (both xp and gp).
    3) Copy spell from scroll to prayerbook.

So, if i'm correct, a special feat isn't even needed?

That's insane. Like crazy insane. Gonna give my DM a freakin' headache. At least i'm not gonna be an incantatrix.

I know this is a double post, but I wanted to keep them separate due to the subject...

After much research i'm pretty sure this is how it happens.

Archivist seeks out a mystic theurge or other caster with both classes, who also happens to have Alternative Source Spell as a feat. Has them scribe a few scrolls as divine spells which he can them copy into his prayerbook.

Are there other ways? Because finding a magic user with both types and that feat seem highly specific and not very DM-friendly.

Also, do the arcane spells, after copied into the prayerbook, still suffer the -1 to caster level?

    Again, thanks... :-/:-/

They're a lot of effort to keep up. I'd join one if there were sign ups for one. I could actively post two times during the day (before and after school or work). I'm just a ridiculously terrible and chronically unprepared DM.

Before I ask this, I would like to mention that it has been a long time since I asked a question :p

Does anybody know how to go about castine arcane spells as divine spells with the Archivist?
