Hey sorry for the late response. My internet was down
I was really thinking about going for the akroan crusader. Butthe thing is, lets say I dont draw my spells that target him? He is just a 1 drop 1/1. I feel the only way to truly make him "good" would be to stretch the deck a little bit and put more pump/targeting spells
The young pyromancer and battledriver looks like it would sum up the game pretty quickly. IMO, when I play pyromancer on turn two, I have lots of red instants and sorceries to play in hand and to draw. If I drop the battledriver, turn 4 and play a couple red instants I feel that I could win the game pretty quick. Seems like a more sustainable battle plan
I am really unsure at this point if I want to go R/G beats or mono red. If you guys think that either one is outright better, please let me know
You guys are making great suggestions, but I have o clue what to take out?
Awaken the ancient looks insane. So does the battledriver. I also was space for more guttersnipes
between chandra's pheonix, guttersnipe, young pyromancer, and the battleriver to support the young pyromancer and phoenix, I feel that the only spells to have would be burn
Also, which 1 drops should I have? Should I go 4 satyr and 4 legion loyalist?
Also, Rubblebelt Raiders is damn good. I just cant figure out which is the best 4 drop to play
I wanted to make a deck to play in my playgroup. We all are sticking to theros standard. I was wondering whether I should go for a R/G or a mono red RDW deck? Both would have to be reasonably budget. That would mean $20-30 excluding the cards that I already picked from the prerealese
Aetherize or Devastation Tide would be the cheapest options for mass removal. Planar Cleansing would work, but it is quite expensive. Whatever you decide to use, don't go above 3 sweepers, otherwise they become dead draws. And with the amount of creatures you have, they'll hurt you too. I'd drop a celestial flare and 2 counter spells for those.
On the celestial flares, that depends on what they do for you. I'd keep them because my Bant control deck relies a lot on combat shenanigans to stall.
Keep the Aetherling. He doesn't draw you cards or get you life, but he's the most versatile of all your bombs. He's one of the most difficult cards to deal with. Isperia and the Reaver die from any kill spell or board wipe, but he can blink around those and then proceed to smash face again and again.
Thanks for the help :)!
I have to replace those cards eventually and slowly
Ok, that helps a lot. I didn't want to suggest some older cards that make my decks roll but wouldn't be allowed.
Well, for starters, Oblivion Ring or Detention Sphere (if budget allows for it) would make a great replacement for the skyknight if you want more control. Fiend Hunter or Banisher Priest could function better than the O-rings, as they can block or attack if needed. The downside is that they're more susceptible to removal and are white heavy, which isn't good for a multicolored deck. Dungeon Geists, although more expensive, could also help here.
Feeling of Dread is an all-star card for W/U control. This should buy you all the time you need to get your big dogs out.
Drogskol Reaver makes a great bomb card if needed. He pretty much functions like Sphinx's Revelation that kills your opponent in the process.
Not sure if they're in your budget, but a board wipe such as Devastation Tide, Terminus, Supreme Verdict, or Cyclonic Rift can solve swarm issues. And since you deck has very few creatures, they won't backfire too much (although they will if you have Fiend Hunter or such out.) Aetherize is less impressive, but that can still turn the tide. And if you play multiplayer then it can function as a bargaining chip ;).
One last question: Is your playgroup removing Innistrad when Theros hits? Or will it stay for awhile afterwards?
I was a little tired when I first posted. I forgot to throw in the detention spheres. I also experimented with proxies on my own and thought about it. I made a new deck:
This decklist has been working for me. My buddy's let me proxy the sphinx's revalation, and the detention spheres are expensive atm. So I am using 3 oblivion rings and 1 detention sphere. I will replace them as I get the money. I threw in moorland haunts. I coudln't find any manlands in the three sets mentioned. Those would have been perfect!
I want to find a way for mass removal that is budget. I will eventually buy a 3 or 4 of of supreme verdict. But I wont have that kind of cash for a while. Are there any cheaper replacements? And what shouldI cut for them? I was thinking yhr celestial flares? Planar Cleansing a nice sweeper?
Aetherling would be ideal for the deck. I will play the drogskul or isperia for now and replace the aehterling eventually
EDIIT: I appreaciate the banisher preist sugestions. But I feel that banisher preist is better if/when I have other creatures to "distract" the opponent
I think I will use devaastation tide for now. And no, the sets that this deck is in will remain in those 4 sets I mentioned. We will be doing a new deck for theros
I haven't played magic for about 3-4 years. I am returning back:cool2:
Anyways, I have set aside cash for a Red Deck in standard to get started at FNM. I have very little cash to make this casual deck to play with a circle of my 4 other buddies. 2 of em dont do tournement play so keep that in mind. I wasn't lookin for anything more than budget cards, couple rares, mostly uncommon and common. Only Current standard plus M14
So far I a playtested it a couple times. I may try to convince my buddies to allow me to proxy the sphinx's revelations because they are essential to the functioning of the deck. Or make an exception to let me use Blue Sun's Zenith
It works nicely. I am thinking twice about the lyev skynights. I would rather draw lands or removal/stal. And the skynight is impressive but I feel bigger creatures can be played and turn three should leave removal open for counters and removal. I feel like if a control deck should play a card, it should stand by itself with hexproof Ascended Lawmage
Or have a big body and some level of stalling power like isperia and/or lavinia. I play these down and they control the board completely. I usually have enough counters to hold them on the board. Thinking of throwing in more isperia
I might find room for Silence. But its goes slightly over budget. I dont wanna take cards away from away from my post M14 red deck
If you have any other creatures, everyone except Master must attack, because that meets the maximum number of requirements while not breaking any restrictions.
If you have only those two, then you choose one to attack.
pretty simple, just use tempo and tutoring to try and assemble the puresight merrow+patron wizard lock asap. the paradise mantle is there to give you a tutor w/puresight
nothing official, just a casual/legacy event with friends. I dont have money for FoW. I'm thinking about squeezing stifles in
What could I possibly add in here to make the pingers go crazy?
any equipment?
4 Sa'quata Firewalkers?
I'm seriously considering Porcelian Legionnaire because I need at least one beater maybe Unstable mutation
Maybe a few more counters?
I have about 10 more spots. Chrome Mox is for more mana
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Firedrinking Satyr
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Young Pyromancer
4 Chandra's Phoenix
1 Ember Swallower
1 Purphoros, God of the Forge
1 Rubblebelt Raiders
1 Orge Battledriver
3 Madcap Skills
4 Magma Jet
4 Lightning Strike
3 shock
2 Hammer of Purphoros
I will try out each one of the 4 drops and figure out which one is best
Any suggestions? The Burning Tree Emissary makes Ash zealot less good of a 2 drop. I figure I couldn't play both

I was thinking of just cutting out some of the 1 drops in favor of some burn spells?
Please letme know your suggestions
I picked quite a lot of magma jet and lightning strike. I also picked Purphoros, God of the Forge. I got a promo ember swallower as well as another one from the packs

RDW would be a pretty self explanatory strategy.
For R/G, I could ramp up with zhur-taa druid, voyaging satyr, elvish mystic. by turn 3, if I had 5 mana available, I could strart dropping fatties
Or I could go with quicker beats. rakdos cackler, Burning-tree emissary, experiment one, etc
Of those three options, which one would get me the best bang for my buck?
I will post a decklist of the chosen deck. Most likely going to do the quicker R/G beats option
Thanks for the help :)!

innistrad, return to ravnica, m14, m13. Sorry I should have mentioned this before. My playgroup agreed on this window of cards
