Also, did you seriously just say "cah a dewdy"? Is that something you feel is clever or witty?

I have to say that did make me smile.

    Quote from Highroller
    Was it though?

Well obviously he'll say yes because that's exactly what he said: "FF7 was a fantastic game when it was made," and I think more people would agree than not. Memorable music, memorable characters, and even the emo plot was ok, and then its graphics were very good for its time.

That doesn't tell you where to bomb.

So the manual tells you to bomb stuff, and that isn't enough? Obviously it's not going to tell you WHERE to bomb stuff... that's like a strategy guide. But I admit that the puzzles were cryptic and unfair at times, but that was the norm back in the days, and that's what Nintendo Power is for!

    Quote from Komet
I think the main reason that I find Christianity so hard to comprehend is that it's fairly absurd when put into perspective:

    1) God lives in a castle in the sky and saves those who follow him.
-What about those who don't know about him? Why should they be punished?

    2) God created all the animals, humans, etc., as they are today.
-We know that humans weren't just here, and that evolution occurs, as well as that the creation of man first (and then woman) makes even less sense than the two points.

    3) There's Satan.
-If God is so powerful, why doesn't he destroy/remove Satan from existence?

    4) God doesn't approve of other beliefs, homosexuals, etc.
-If God is "perfect", why can't he accept homosexuals and people of other beliefs?

    5) As more and more parts of the Bible have been proven incorrect or not socially acceptable, people start to not believe them.
-I remember from somewhere that part of the Bible says that you should beat/kill your wife if she tries to convert to another faith/belief. Seems a little extremists for God (but works well to keep your people attached to a faith). Also, if you look back at the Greek faith, you'll notice they had certain deities for certain parts of nature that they couldn't explain. I feel like God is like those Greek deities, and we just can't explain it yet.

Just passed by this thread and wanted to comment on the newest post. Let me first say I don't necessarily believe in the Christian god.

    1) Even if the person does not know of the Christian god, it is pretty much guaranteed that the person has sinned in their life, and that is enough for condemnation. As for little children, some say they are saved but I think this belief has no scriptural backing. According to the Bible the babies would also be condemned as they have not accepted Christ and Christ is the one and only way to salvation. As for justification of the damnation, they supposedly are born with a "sinful nature". Don't ask me how this works though, maybe they are predisposed to sinning or something like that.

    2) They could have been created via evolution. There's several Christian view points on how this is possible, just Google them, but briefly one is where God imparts "human-ness" into the specie that is to become humans and another is that the genome that codes specifically for humans is so incredibly improbable that God directed evolution to create humans. Of course the validity of these explanations is totally up for debate.

    3) I guess the typical Christian would answer with "it's according to His plan and we just can't/don't comprehend it", which I think is totally lol.

    4) I don't see why a perfect being must accept homosexuals and people of other beliefs.

    5) People not believing in God due to some beliefs being socially unacceptable has no bearing on whether Christianity is true or not, especially because what is socially acceptable changes over time. Seemingly incorrect things in the Bible are just "metaphor'd" away, which is fine in some cases as it is backed up by the writing style and so forth but other times it just seems ridiculously baseless. Evidence that Greek gods do not exist is not evidence that the Christian god does not exist.

Just expand out (n+1)! and you'll see. The explanation is pretty much the definition of factorials.

You can just show that at height h, the gravitational energy is equal to the kinetic energy is had before it went up the ramp.

    i.e. mgh = 1/2 mv^2 ==> h = v^2 / 2g

The easiest character to learn, at least just casually, has to be Hakumen, as his combos are pretty simple to do, and can do a fair (or unfair, depending on your view) just with his various C attacks. Then if you're totally new at the game and can't even do shoryuken motions, Hakumen's got you covered with his Drive. And he's pretty lag-proof as well, compared to characters like Noel who just get raped with even slight lag.

Tager is also a good choice because even though he's pretty low tier, he punishes mistakes pretty hard with his command throw dealing real Soviet damage, and you can expect quite a bit of mistakes from people who just started playing or just play casually. Plus, his combos are easy and he's also lag-proof. The only barrier I see to playing Tager is doing the 270 motion.

OpenOffice and AVG only if you don't like getting the paid versions. Especially OpenOffice, it's terrible (relative to MS Office). AVG is pretty slow.

Surprised no one mentioned a torrent program, like uTorrent, and use it to legally download stuff of course.

Leyline of Anticipation: the deck either has to run a lot of non-instants to make the leyline worthwhile which would it mean the deck would be bad or at least non-optimal if it doesn't draw the leyline, or the deck runs too little sorceries to make it worthwhile. Unlike Teferi, which WAS format defining because resolving a Teferi against control was more or less game, this card just gives a nice bonus but one that isn't worth the trouble.

The other Leylines: the only leylines that seem playable are the black and white one, and only if there are decks that get really hated by those leylines. The red one, also a nice bonus, is not worth the one card needed because every card is important in red; even sideboard it's pretty iffy. The green one's effect is not bad, but the effect isn't big or significant enough to warrant play. The white one hates out very specific decks that rely on a targeting card, and I don't think those decks are very common. I also don't think it hates out red enough to make it worthwhile, especially when white generally has a pretty good game against red to begin with. Leyline of the Void has already been proven playable in certain format.

    Fauna Shaman: too slow

Reverberate: I swear every time Twincast gets printed people get orgasmic but every time it just gets ignored right after.

    Quote from Brogenitus

All the Titans (Six mana 6/6s... woo)

6 mana for 6/6s are already efficient, and all of them come attached with a good ability... except for maybe Frost Titan, whose ability is a weaker shroud and the tap ability is pretty bad for 6 mana, especially when blue has access to way better finishers.

Primeval Titan is pretty good, although I don't think it's worth $26. Once it comes out it demands an answer, and once it is answered next turn I pretty much drop an Eldrazi from the stuff it fetches. It can also get pseudo protection when attacking by searching up Sejiri Steppe, or can add more threats by searching for man-lands. And although it is smaller then creatures available for its cost, it's a +2 card advantage upon entering play and that's worth the reduction is stats.

    Quote from magicman
I think some of you guys are so used to Survival of the Fittest being the centerpiece of decks that you don't realize what Fauna Shaman is all about. A card that gets killed in 2 seconds isn't meant to have a deck built around it; it's more of a fixer, and it's a great one at that. Don't need your turn 5 Birds of Paradise? Trade it in for a Vengevine. Mana screwed? Get rid of that fatty and get a mana producer. This is one of the most misunderstood cards in quite a while.

Except that I have to use a turn to cast Fauna Shaman, then wait a turn to trade the creature. I'd rather just draw something that actually threatens the opponent instead of Fauna Shaman then having to trade another creature for a threat. And if I'm mana-screwed the last thing I would want to do is wait 2 turns for a mana producer.

How is Emeria, the Sky Ruin in the (mono-white version of the) deck? This deck doesn't seem to be hurt by another cipt land and there's Expedition Map to tutor it out, but it just seems unnecessary as if I reach 7 plains + Emeria it means I can probably just cast the Eldrazis to rape face anyway, and Emeria has anti-synergy with the Eldrazis.

And maybe even stuff like Elspeth, as even though it doesn't seem to fit with the whole plan, it buys a lot of time and I'm finding this deck even with the life gain can be weak on defense, and offensive because if they happen to land a planeswalker such as Ajani Vengeant early this deck just cannot kill it without All is Dust, and good luck casting All is Dust with Ajani tapping you down or Jace, the Mind Sculptor raping face. But maybe it's just auto scoop to those decks game 1 and then hope Pithing Needle works game 2 + 3.

Also, I'm considering Kor Cartographer for the ramp as well, and it's 2/2 body can be relevant.

Survival Cache is ok I think. Sure, there are times when it sucks, but opening with a Kabira Crossroad or a Wall of Omens pretty much guarantees the draw, and just the life gain has saved me a few times.

    Quote from Sam111111
I remember Monopoly! Our house rules didn't have trading for whatever reason. I usually won, because when I landed on a property, I would, uh, buy it. And that was my strategy? Yeah. I remember offering trades clandestinely but nobody accepted them. :p

... may eventually check out Settlers of Catan, I've heard good things.

    @Argus: awesome!

That takes out most of the strategy in the game.

Fizzling is just slang for being countered due to illegal target. A spell that "can't be countered" says they can't be countered by spells or abilities, so they can still be countered by game rules, so there's no difference.
