    Or the other way around:

"You may cast this card for its spectacle cost as you draw it. If you do, you can't cast spells this turn."

This would also be a spectacle of some sort...

There is also possibility of bad play choices.

Many times I kept starting hand with two lands and a bunch of spells with "If third land comes in first three turns, I win.", and many times I didn't get third land. I never blame game shuffling algorithm or balancing for this though.

@mtghardcore, if you're speaking of ladder, its maybe the fastest to play, but there could be a variety of players, and probably the matching algorithm should be improved a bit. In ladder you can meet beginners with weak monocolored Arena preconstructed decks, some hilarious combos (Rat Colony + Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive...), or lock down (multiple Nexus of Fate + Azcanta, the Sunken Ruin.

Maybe better would be direct challenge or "real" play (Bo3 match, with sideboard)...

    I would say 16.

You embalm Anointer Priest, and two replacement effects from both Anointed Processions duplicate tokens from one to two, and from two to four.

All four embalmed Priest tokens enter the battlefield together, and each of them "see" itself and the other three entering the battlefield.

Each of the four tokens therefore creates four "gain 1 life" triggers, 16 together.

Well, the inspiration for names and most of everything else is definitely Slavic, that means central, eastern, and southern Europe (Balkan) included.

I believe every Slavic language could find some word here and there. For Czech it's "rusalka", "bumbat" (literally "to drink", but used only for small babies - to drink baby milk from bottle). And for example incantation "Vrazi" used by Agrus when destroying ghosts with his pendrek (it's literally "murderers").

And of course, there is Urban Evolution which depicts exactly the Church of St. Francis of Assisihttps://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kostel_svat%C3%A9ho_Franti%C5%A1ka_z_Assisi_(Star%C3%A9_M%C4%9Bsto), as well as Old Town Tower of Charles Bridge https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Bridge#/media/File:Karl%C5%AFv_most.jpg.

Wizards said several times that year count is consistent within all Multiverse, to prevent exactly these issues.

So more likely I expect that Dominaria's day last only 20 hours or so, and the year's time is equivalent...

And the zeros are right. During first Ravnica, it was Decamillenium celebration ;-)

Feather on the other hand, that I give you. They hinted at her being important for Lazavs plans... and then never mentioned her again until now. For all we know she is still in stasis.

Wasn't Feather freed from her stasis by Krenko?

No, Krenoko disrupted the stasis field, took a Feather's feather (I always thought it should have cost him his arm), and cleared off just before the guards stormed in and seized Feather again.

Since when is Dovin considered evil or villainous? Ral, Vraska, and Domri aren't evil or villainous, they've just been tricked into serving Bolas (in some cases unknowingly) for various reasons. I don't see why you'd assume it would be any different for Dovin, especially considering he was portrayed in a fairly heroic light during the Kaladesh storyline, despite being an antagonist.

Ral is an abusive, temperamental, psychotic narcissist and Vraska tends to vacillate depending on who's writing her.

Dovin is not capital E evil but he's meant to come across as unsympathetic and snooty. His final act in the Kaladesh storyline is him blowing up a ship to spite Chandra.

Whether Dovin is sympathetic or not depends on audience. He certainly isn't meant to be unsympathetic in general. Yes, he is a bit snooty, but unlike Tezzeret not without justification ;-) And he blowed the ship not to spite Chandra, he only neutralized the thopter and deprived the ship of fuel. He even pointed out that they should land so no one would be harmed.

From the whole Kaladesh story I got impression that anything Dovin does, he does it without emotion and for the better of everyone. Any plane would be such a nice place if the people on it stop being morons and start following his advices...

I do not believe Dovin is working for Bolas directly and willingly, but rather convinced/tricked by Tezzeret (or maybe Bolas in human form).

  • posted a message on Not random ePacks?
    Hi,
I am playing mainly ladder and GRN ePacks I opened (either for coins or as rewards) seem to be slightly influenced by the type of deck I use.
I use the Ral planeswalker deck first, and in some 20 packs I got two Risk Factors, Thousand-Year Storm, Firemind's Research, and even Niv-Mizzet, Parun himself, as well as some Crackling Drakes and Piston-Fist Cyclops. Of course other rare/uncommon cards weren't Izzet, but it still seems more for me than just a pure random chance. During the time I also got one Overgrown Tomb.

Last week I choose to play and improve on Vraska's Planeswalker deck, and in some 10 packs got another two Overgrown Tombs, Vraska, Golgari Queen, and Assassin's Trophy.

Is it possible that ePacks in Magic Arena are not 100% random?

Well, I am enjoying this a lot. Still brewing Ral's planeswalker deck, with more updates from ePacks (Risk Factor, more Crackling Drakes, Thousand-Year Storm).

Last time 5 wins in (non competitive) constructed - lost only to "Ajani's everything" deck (Ajani's Pridemate + Ajani's Welcome + Ajani's Last Stand) and to a (definitely competitive) deck with promo Teferi, Hero of Dominaria, Nexus of Fate, Azcanta, the Sunken Ruin and a bunch of surveilers who effectively locked me down.

Just playing for fun and waiting for Ral, Izzet Viceroy Smile

EDIT: Not Viceroy, but yesterday I cracked Niv-Mizzet, Parun from ePack. Put him straight into the deck, he even managed to enter the battlefield in the next game, only to be Plummeted promptly...

    But it was fun nonetheless.

Every now and then, you will meet opponent who will smash you on-curve within three turns. There is nothing to do with this.
But in casual ladder you won't meet much of those...

And try Ral's deck. You won't have problems with surplus lands in hand. They are excellent for jump-starting Smile

That is weird. I am mosty now only using two GRN planeswalker decks in Arena, which I am slowly upgrading from ePacks. So far Firemind's Research, Piston-Fist Cyclops, Crackling Drake for Ral's, Vicious Rumors, Ochran Assassin, Pitiless Gorgon, and Overgrown Tomb for Vraska's. I am playing only ladder and with these decks I have now roughly 40% winning rate consistently.
And I believe that you must also already have several free two color decks which Arena gets you for free as rewards. I tried white-red one and it's also quite decent.

Rekindling Phoenix in a game with little to no meaningful removal? Busted.

Funnily, just got rid of one today: destroyed by Precision Bolt, then the totem scorched by attacking Hellkite Whelp...

On the other hand, planeswalker decks are much better than starting decks. I brought both Ral's and Vraska's and I am continuously upgrading them from boosters (so far Piston-Fist Cyclops, Firemind's Research, and Overgrown Tomb). I'd say that just for casual playing in ladder they are quite decent. I even once managed to ultimate Vraska, Regal Gorgon. It was against opponent with Rekindling Phoenix, which has a nice animation when rekindling, and I was half expecting that a planeswalker ultimate will also have some nice touch. Maybe missed opportunity.

I dont buy this rigging issue at all. Who would bother to play it?

The real issue, is taking your garbage starting deck (like what I have) up against a fully built out Mythic/Rare deck and getting absolutely dumpstered like I just did. Not sure where the fun is in that. :p

Yes, that's true. Yesterday I suffered a "game" against two Ajani's Welcomes, two Ajani's Pridemates, followed immediately by Call the Cavalry. But from my experience it is not that often (so far happened four times in roughly forty games I played in ladder).
