From what i saw, vampirism did way more harm than the sun to the plane and Azor wasn't responsible for that.
But he was. Creation of vampires is a direct consequence of creating the Sun.
All in all, this last story could be nice, if it wasn't written so hasty (which was I suppose necessary, considering only two chapters now remains). One or two pages longer, more nuance in the style, and it could be of the same quality as the rest of Ixalan story.
Off topic, about "Azor is evil": do you know what would be cool? If Azor cooperates with Bolas instead, and creates the Sun as a prison for all other planeswalkers. For him, it could very well be reasoned as a noble quest of cleansing the Multiverse from the unstability and unpredictability of planeswalkers. You know, after they will be all locked down and eliminated, the Multiverse will be stable again. And Bolas would happily agree with that. The ultimate ending of him as the only planeswalker alone would be just a bonus
Heck, they could also use "Project Lightning Bug" as a planeswalkers' tracking device Multiverse-wide (maybe even to those with dormant spark yet).
What I find great about the plane of Ixalan is it actually has similarities with Dominaria. Like if you were to describe the plane to someone else its "The meso-american plane with conquistador vampires, dinosaurs, Aztecs who tame said dinosaurs, pirates and also Maya merfolk." That it doesn't traditionally fit under the "Plane of Hats" theme that they have been pushing for awhile now. That it also reminds me of Tarkir in being a plane with fairly diverse cultures that clashed with each other.
Well, is it (theoretically) possible that Ixalan is on Dominaria? We know that Ixalan is the continent, not plane.
We know only half of Dominaria's globe, and both Ixalan and Torrezon could fit there...
Imho Mazirek releases Umrilek "now" (roughly concurrently with Amonkhet story) and all Vraska parts were flashbacks (a year, two, three?). How long it takes to teach someone the "political" finesse...
My personal head canon is Ob Nixilis. He has a long history of conquests after all, and he could easily turn Amonkhet upside down. Then, after the disaster, eight gods just retreated to Oashra and created the Hekma...
Just a fun observation about the opening line of the last story:
The God-Pharaoh has returned, and the five Hours have arrived as foretold. The Hours of Revelation, Glory, and Promise unleashed disaster upon Naktamun, and now the Hour of Eternity brings an unimaginably personal terror to the city's denizens.
Where there was told that there are five Hours? They were always four of them foretold?
"When the Second Sun rests between the horns on the horizon, so begins the Hour of Revelation. Then the Hour of Glory, the Hour of Promise, and finally the Hour of Eternity."
—The Accounting of Hours
Hi,
as in headline: Whenever I log in, there is this merging offer. How can I refuse to merge Twitch account when I haven't any? I can only log on to Twitch, create Twitch account, or postpone it.
Not that it is something horrible, only a bit irritating.
He was also lond of in a hurry when he set up the system. Even someone of Bolas' brilliance can only do so much thinking and still do the necessary magical preparations under a serious time crunch. I'd imagine he couldn't be sure exactly when the mending would happen and how much of his power it would take.
Is it stated somewhere that Bolas's first arrival 60 years ago was before the Mending? I thought it was right after the Mending, and Bolas knew his power was rapidly fading away. This was the reason why he has so much haste... Or not?
Then again, 60 years ago Amonkhet was already reduced to Naktamun, and this apparently wasn't Bolas's doing. Is it possible that the plane was slowly crumbling away? Or was it someone else's doing (Ob Nixilis)?
But he was. Creation of vampires is a direct consequence of creating the Sun.

But the question is the planeswalker lock...
Which brings important question: Can we expect the Inquisition?
So still no guns in Magic? Even on a pirate world? What a wasted opportunity... Were there any guns in Magic except Portal Second Age?
Where there was told that there are five Hours? They were always four of them foretold?

I think the more important is if they are balanced enough. After all, you *should* have played them as they are.
