Not stopping creature spells would make the ability stronger. You are activating the ability during your turn, in response opponents can cast spells and activate abilities. It will stop a few triggered abilities but mostly it will just mess yourself up.

After you activate it you won't be able to do much with your turn other than attacking, and a controlly azorios deck generally doen't do much attacking.

Hmm. Will "Your opponents can't cast spells until your next turn" be too much?

Target player sacrifices a creature of your choice

Just feels like a way to get around hexproof and indestructible. I don't know if it's too strong, but I wouldn't include it on general principle of avoiding an arms race. Otherwise, your Lili is pretty interesting.

It was meant that. Maybe it should be more expensive. And maybe you should not get a 2/2 Zombie from Gigantosaurus...

    Liliana, Supreme Prelate 2WBB
+1: Destroy target creature. Its owner creates a 1/1 white Spirit creature token with flying.
-4: Target player sacrifices a creature of your choice, then creates a black Zombie creature token with power equal to that card's power and toughness equal to that card's toughness.
-7: Create five 2/2 black Zombie creature tokens. You get an emblem with “At the beginning of each end step, gain control of all Spirits and Zombies.”
    Starting loyalty 5

Tap target creature. It won’t untap during its controller’s next untap step.

This should read doesn't instead of won't. Otherwise probably fine.

    OK

-3: Until end of turn, players can’t cast spells, activate abilities, and triggered abilities won’t trigger.

I don't, off the top of my head, know what this breaks, but stopping all triggered abilities worries me. Also, even the most controlling spells printed recently give the opponent some outs, so maybe stopping non-creature spells could be enough?

This affects all players, and doesn't stop attacking and blocking. I thought about some "general silence" effect...

You get an emblem with "Sacrifice this emblem: Counter target spell."

Interesting idea, but I'm not sure if emblems can technically be sacrificed? An enchantment token with the same purpose could work.

Nice idea, what about white and blue Law enchantment token?

You get an emblem with "Whenever a creature is dealt damage, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life."

It'd be more in character if everyone lost life, tbh.

Yes, it would, but then the ultimate may not help you at all... Maybe I could switch the abilities.

    Tibalt, Painmaster BR
0: Put a loyalty counter on Tibalt, Painmaster for each creature that was dealt damage this turn.

Liliana will be in charge of Orzhov, I believe she could overrun the Obzedat (and maybe Kaya will help Gatewatch by killing Orzhov, and thus getting rid of Liliana influence in guild). Her abilities are more or less classical, but maybe the second ability is too strong?

Dovin will be in charge of Azorius (I do not believe he would serve Bolas willingly, maybe it will be through a go-between - I just can't imagine Azorius Tezzeret). His second ability should represent total "martial law" for magic. Isn't it too strong? His ultimate is quite cheap so it should not be hard to activate it multiple times.

And for Rakdos I tried another 2-mana Tibalt. Supposing that Rakdos get some mechanic which will support headless attacking, it could be quite strong. BTW will it trigger even for creatures that were dealt damage in combat and died? Or only for those that survived?

I have both of them and also with theme pack. I'd say especially theme pack is the ideal way to improve the Planeswalker deck (in my Izzet pack I even got two rares: Ionize and Niv-Mizzet, Parun).

And there also is a redeem code that could bring the planeswalker deck into Magic Arena.

Hello, I just want to ask you if the Arena really is so resource-consuming in your machines.

I have a fairly acceptable i5 4core 2,7GHz, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950A, and when I start the game (really only the game, not deckbuilding or other parts of Arena), the ventilators almost fly away. I set the game settings to the lowest detail, but the PC is literally straining.

Even when I edit video in my PC, the strain is not that big...

So, is there some settings I could do? I just can't believe Arena is so demanding (or maybe just poorly programmed)...

Yes, it was similar with DotP I used to play, but back then I had a terrible old PC, so it was to be expected.

So I after all tried it as F2P and I must say it's not bad.

I used the preconstructed white deck and played some dozen games. Even with this deck I managed to win twice (three times if I include one game when opponent suddenly disappeared - probably his/her connection problem).
Of course in this dozen games were several opponents like "Forest, Llanowar Elves, Forest, 2x Llanowar Elves, Gigantosaurus, Prodigious Growth", but I suppose this is to be expected.

As I am nearly exclusively a collector, yesterday I used the redeem code from Ral's planeswalker deck (is this still F2P btw?). It has slightly better results, and I even collect enough coins and was lucky to have Firemind's Research in my booster.

So, I will be strictly casual and, considering I haven't much time, I'll by playing only once/twice a week, just several games in ladder. That way I used to play DotP and it seems Arena is also quite nice for this approach.

(There is only problem with PC resource demanding which I address elsewhere.)

Well, I thought about trying Arena, but now I am not sure.

I played first Duels of the Planeswalkers just as single player campaign, and it was sufficient for me (I'm mainly a collector, not a Magic player).

Is it possible to use Magic Arena just for some single player campaign (like in DotP)? Or is it strictly player vs. player where I must continuously upgrade my decks or play draft?

    Thanks

Strange, i never noticed that dinosaur like art (inside the planewalker symbol, top mid right). If i m not mistake there was a new Karn, Tamiyo, and Garruk art in this poster. ( aside from the ones we know are part of the masterpiece set.)

    That's probably Huatli, Dinosaur Knight

Well, Portal is back - preconstructed and preshuffled decks...

    Turn 1:
P1: Plains, play Devoted Hero, done
    P2: Island, done

    Turn 2:
P1: Mountain, attack with Devoted Hero (remember, you don't tap lands when attacking with creature, only when you cast it Smile ), play Hulking Goblin, done.
P2: Swamp, play Storm Crow, done
    ...

This brings back many fond memories.

Yes, the first battle with Ugin was it when he became Spirit dragon. I think until that he looked like traditional dragon (no feathered wings), maybe even Bolas-like. You know, twins...

And I too hoped for something more interesting about Bolas's sparking. Like that he stole the spark (Gem of Becoming) from real "demonic leviathan"...

If Bolas never fought the demonic leviathan, what is the origin of the Talon Gates?

Well, leviathan could in fact be Ugin.

Bolas fought and killed him. Then he returned to Dominaria, to Madara. The whole "demonic leviathan" thing could be just his version of the story.

The phrase 'Events on Zendikar didn't unfold as he had planned, since the appearance of Ugin, whom he had though dead.' makes no sense to me. How did Ugin affect the events on Zendikar (he didn't)? Why is the sentence structure so bad? It is not proper English at all.

I have trouble trusting this paragraph.

I'd say (as a non-native speaker) that the clauses in the sentence may be meant independently, so that Nicol knows that the events on Zendikar didn't unfold as he had planned, and we know, that it was because of Ugin, whom he had thought dead.

Anyway, we'll probably see the next week, when Nicol will try to find it out. I am honestly thrilled what will happen, since we know that he cannot kill Ugin.

Anybody else feel like Bolas' end game is a bit underwhelming?

Also, how do the Eldrazi fit into that end game?

I had assumed that the end game was getting his former power back. In the Amonkhet block he goes on about putting his plan in motion, to devour worlds to get his power back. Why is Ravnica important to that goal?

The releasing of Eldrazi was only a test, if there are planeswalkers able to join and work together. The test was positive. Check.

Second stage: destroy that threat. Check.

End game: find a world worthy of my magnificence to rule: Ravnica. (I suppose Dominaria has now a bitter flavor for Nicol Bolas.)
