^^ Resto sounds good, I was still on "extended leave" when that came out so I never noticed it. Loving the art too. I'll try to trade for one.... or two, since she'd go pretty well in my Rasputin Blink too. Man, I'd hate to cut Angel of Despair though.
Thanks for pointing out the new blink hottie!
It's ok, but there are a couple reasons I replaced it.
1) Often, when I really need instant speed spot removal, I don't have much mana left open. RF is much easier to pay for in an emergency, or to leave mana open for it in the first place.
2) Though exile is better than destroy when it comes to killing a threat, and this doesn't happen too often, there have been a couple times when I didn't have a sac outlet available and needed my own creature to die, like in response to a Hallowed Burial or Swords to Plowshares. RF can do that, Unmake can't. Come to think of it, I should've left Eyeblight's Ending in instead of Rend Flesh, since I can't hit my own Yosei or Kokusho with RF. I'll swap that out right now. Thanks.
I used to run it, it can be great. There were a few times when I really needed to bring back a creature, but he was the only one in the yard or didn't have something in play to sac. Victimize is much more reliable if you're using the Bloodghast style self recurring creatures, as you'll more often have something to sac and two in the yard.
was wondering what people thought of Treasury Thrull. I played one in the release draft, loved Extort, but never got to trigger his recursion because my opponent's blockers would have killed it, and it wasn't worth the trade. I'm debating adding it to this deck to see if I like it. I just wish it triggered on entering the battlefield.
My take on Thrull, he's not horrible, but no matter what you want him for, we've got much better options for the card slot. He's not a good blocker or beater, his recursion is slow and conditional on him attacking and to hand rather than to battlefield, he doesn't recur by Titan or Lark.
If his ability was etb/ltb or the recursion was to the battlefield, he would be way better.
I could see him fitting much better in a build that uses lots of haste, but even then, I'd probably have trouble replacing any number of stronger creatures with him.
I'm hoping for a really awesome extort creature in the next set.
1) Allows you to destroy most threats while keeping your tokens, low cmc creatures, and Teysa.
2) Triggers dying effects rather than just ltb effects like grave pact, Yosei, the Morning Star, Kokusho, the Evening star, and Teysas own second ability.
3) Gives you two choices instead of one
4) If you do have to sweep all creatures, you mostly want your own in the gy rather than exiled so they can be abused again.
5) Austere triggers persist and undying, Eviction doesn't.
Hi. I'm considering building a Teysa token deck , but I have a question about your experiences with this deck. How badly does this deck do against wrath effects and the like? I'm worried about that, haha. That's basically the factor that will decide whether I build this or Ghost Council.
It does a lot better than most decks, imo (but so does Ghost Council). Everything dying is part of its normal operation. Try it out, and if you decide to go to a different Orzhov deck later, most of the money cards will still be good in the conversion.
Chromatic lantern's fixing isn't that crucial in a 2-color deck I guess. Darksteel Ingot on the other side survives Austere Command for example. Gilded Lotus is always nice - I guess it's just a personal preference.
Pretty much that, especially the Austere Command part. I've never quite warmed up to high cost mana rocks. The biggest I use is Thran Dynamo in my Rasputin deck (or Caged Sun in Drana, but that's a whole different category of rock). I don't disagree with them being useful or anything, just a style pref, I guess.
Man pulling out the ghast/blossom/skeleton stuff eh? I'm going to play around with that stuff before I start killing it. Was it just not powerful enough?
I just wanted to free up some space to go heavier with the Bleeder theme. The pact package worked pretty well at times, but once grave pact is out, it also draws a lot of aggression. In no way do I think it's a bad idea for the deck, but I've got two other Orzhov decks and I don't want them to be any more similar than needed. I'm keeping the whole package in my Teysa deck, that has much more token production and stax effects to take advantage of it.
So here's my go at this deck. Let me know your opinions. I also didn't include Karn or Xiahou Dun for budget reasons
Looks fine to me, man. Only card I'm wondering about is Geralf's Messenger. Doesn't seem like there's a lot of options to abuse him. Let me know if I'm missing an interaction. Nim Deathmantle plus Ashnod's Altar with him is a table kill.
Made my changes for the new set:
Swamp out for Thespian's Stage - I figure this is a no-brainer to copy Coffers.
Corpse Dance out for Necromancy - I wasn't getting a ton of abuse off of the dance like I do in my other decks. Necro gives me more options.
Necrotic Ooze out for..... Fellwar Stone. Ooze is amazing, but I'm getting tired of him and want more cheap mana ramp. He'll probably go back in at some point.
I wasn't going to go with Crypt Ghast since my swamp count is low, but I really want to try extort, and I figure he's at least a little bit of ramp, plus I've got land tutoring and recursion so I put in Urborg to help him out some.
Can't help but think that, especially since most WB will play well with sacrifice and recursion, that Corpse Dance (cheaply/continually buying back and recasting) would be an auto include. Throw in Ashnod's Altar and Phyrexian Altar to make multiple uses cheaper.
Su-Chi could possibly have some use here too. Gravecrawler would be pretty cool if you were heavy on zoms.
Have you thought of using Mutilate as a board wipe at all?
Funny you should ask, actually. Great card. I used to have one and traded it away, but I just put it back on my shopping list for this deck, it's going to go in with the new set changes (along with Crypt Ghast). I'll probably go ahead and update the decklist in the next couple days, I've been finishing off the changes to all my decks (time consuming).
Thanks for pointing out the new blink hottie!
Nice play

Agreed

- Identity Crisis
- Puppeteer Clique
- Coffin Queen
- Suffer the Past
- Angel of Serenity
-plus any instant sac outlet for AngelIt does a lot better than most decks, imo (but so does Ghost Council). Everything dying is part of its normal operation. Try it out, and if you decide to go to a different Orzhov deck later, most of the money cards will still be good in the conversion.
** off topic - I just realized that I had Abyssal Persecutor in the list, when it should have been Abyssal Gatekeeper. Fixed.
Pretty much that, especially the Austere Command part. I've never quite warmed up to high cost mana rocks. Coalition Relic would probably be the one that makes the most sense.
A little more ramp and mana fixing
Out with most Lords
More ways to sneak a pumped Grimgrin through
More ways to abuse ltb for life loss
Notable Additions:

Made my changes for the new set:
Swamp out for Thespian's Stage - I figure this is a no-brainer to copy Coffers.
Gauntlet of Power out for Crypt Ghast - Gauntlets was my least favorite doubler. Never really liked it.
Diabolic Edict out for Mutilate
Corpse Dance out for Necromancy - I wasn't getting a ton of abuse off of the dance like I do in my other decks. Necro gives me more options.
Necrotic Ooze out for..... Fellwar Stone. Ooze is amazing, but I'm getting tired of him and want more cheap mana ramp. He'll probably go back in at some point.
Took out the fodder/grave pact package.
Tweaked the Bleeder spells and creatures
Bolstered the mana production
We'll see how this runs for a while
OUT:
- Vivid Marsh
- Vivid Meadow
- Swamp
- Profane Command
- Bloodghast
- Bitterblossom
- Reassembling Skeleton
- Suture Priest
- Unmake
- Reverse the Sands
- Tainted Sigil
- Butcher of Malakir

Gravecrawler would be pretty cool if you were heavy on zoms.
Maybe some other buyback spell like Disturbed Burial
or Brood of Cockroaches

It wasn't bad, but it felt like it just wasn't reliable enough in here and took up too many slots that should be devoted to big mana stuff.
