Feb 22, 2013Ecophagy posted a message on Need help building deckI don't know if you're still interested in comments, but I thought I'd chip something in:i n short, the deck is very slow and vulnerable. It's a 3 card como that is vulnerable to artifact and creature hate. Looking at your "ideal sequence of plays" I notice that it is at best a turn 5 goldfish, with basically no interaction with opponents except for 3 remand and 2 path. Almost every deck can race you if your best start is a T5 goldfish. You also need +1 card to kill with, which is a gifts or one of your 4 X spells.Posted in: Void Blog
Compare it to other similar decks, namely control/combo decks: Splinter Twin and Scapeshift. The former races you with a 2 card combo, which they have 8 pieces of each, and the latter goldfishes T5 while playing disruption and cryptic command into a protected Scapeshift. Another similar deck is the Ritual Gifts deck, which is similar in that it wants to play gifts->win. The problem is that it's easier for that deck to win off gifts (Past in Flames is awesome), and again it runs more disruption and Merchant scroll for tutoring Gifts/silver bullets.
On top of that, Deathrite Shaman has made Gifts Ungiven strategies very vulnerable of late.
In terms of improving the deck itself, cut the Borderpost+Wayfarer. They don't do anything exciting at all. Secondly, you don't need so many big X spells. You're not running enough ramp for them to be playable outside of the combo, so they're dead draws (especially Diabolic Revelation). Devil's Play is probably good enough since it has flashback, or just use BSZ sunce Drift of Phantasms can find it. I'd consider cutting Gifts, since relying on it makes your already slow combo even slower.
Sorry to be such a downer, but the deck just doesn't look like it does anything as well as other similar decks -

Fair enough.
Why do you want a claim when moments ago you said the vig shouldn't claim?
And no, I am not the vig, but the same reasoning applies.
It depends on the lynch, if we hit town the vig should NOT fire unless they are 100% sure they'll hit scum. Because if they hit town, we lose.
Therefore, we could speculate at targets (I suggest Skander), but not fire unless we nolynch/hit scum. the vig kill may be more useful tomorrow night.
A note as well: If our vig is in fact a SK, bear in mind you only win alone, and so killing a townie tonight, causing the scum to win, would lose you the game. You are therefore on the townies' side tonight, in essence.
and Silent Prophet, may We have a vote count?
Confirmed, I just couldn't keep up with the CA.
if Kraj comes in, we might as well start this back from day 1 >_>
@Skander: I presume you mean proceed with the lynch?
and Kpaca, do you think the Vig should claim? Given they will certainly die tonight if they do?
This struck me as the reluctant lynching of a scumbuddy.
She then re-doubled her efforts on D2. From what I see, Seraph was clearly a noob (but that could just be the 20:20 magic of hindsight) Which resulted in the lynch.
Today, she has been pressing for the lynch of another soft target- a notorious lurker.
The suspicious thing was just how you copied my actions, quoting me in both instances; and that you felt my particpation if the game was necesssary for you to act.
To clarify, I did not "jump on your accusation" (Which you had not expressly said at the time); I read the entire thread and voted accordingly.
and now the name claim is complete, we have gleabbed veyr little. I will have a look at the characters and see what can be determined, but I doubt very much will reveal itself.
more re-reads are necessary, I fear.
this is the real reason we play on MWS.
you should have challenged him to re-match with HPDW
As I understand it, Godfathers only show up innocent when investigated by a cop. For them to come up as town when killed would be very unusual, and certainly not within the realms of a newbie game. The only instance I can think of is Stormblind in Final Fantasy mafia had an ability along those lines. I do not believe this is a possibility in a newbie game.
I don't know whether the vig should claim -- on the one hand we can clear up the mess from last night, and try and direct them; but on the other hand, with the doc dead, they will certainly die tonight.
I am torn.
heh, that's what I said.
Maybe we should have a dig through the flavour on each character, just in case something comes up (just be careful not to game the mod >.<)
The problem is, there aren't that many posts worthy of lengthy analysis.
Maybe we should have a look back at day 1 & 2 and try and spot the scum jumping on the wagons. One of the main reasons I suspect jqlgirl/skander is because of the four people who didn't vote for Unglatman they are the only ones still alive, and not confirmed town.
Mostly because I believe we have a vig, and I wouldn't want them to reveal themself... And I guess we may have more unsual power roles than usual.
Following the list: I am Micah, 'Nimir Raj' (which is, from what I gather, a kind of King of werelepoards, where Anita is Queen) and leader of the Furry Coalition (A werewolf group)
I would like to point out your first "barning Post" was #256 in which, should the link be clicked, you quite clearly quoted me, offered an implied agreement to my points, and followed my recent action, which was a vote. (Why had you not voted her before this? You say she was scummy, and yet you placed no vote. in fact, not even a FoS)
Your Second Barning post (which you failed to mention) #267 shows you again quite clearly quoting (and agreeing with) me and following almost identical action (namely, unvoting. You then placed a FoS, which I deemed unecessary) At the time of your unvote, the situation was not as dangerous as you made out -- I had unvoted, and if scum had jumped onto a speedlynch, we would have noticed given the pace of the game.
So you are accusing me of barning you? Simply by dint of the fact that you posted just before I joined? You had not voted, nor placed any official suspicion. You had not even called her scummy, save for an implication that lurking was scummy, and by extension, so was she.
To Conclude: FoS: Zadira
Perhaps then, we should go for a name claim. Just to get some information. With regards to an order, can I suggest something like:
Yoda
Myself
Ace
Zadira
TFO
Reasonable?
with regards to pyro's claim, from what I gather (from that very piece of research) is that Richard seems to be one of Anita's (many) lovers, and a rather central character. Werewolves are not inhernetly evil.
@Skander: I do not find you yourself terribly scummy, but jqlgirl's actions reflect upon you in a rather bad light, so I cannot rule you out.
I am against it, since I think there are more than enough characters for scum to hide behind. We therefore need Yoda & Zadira's opinion to settle things.
