Everyone complaining that the counter mode isn't 'worth 3' is silly. These are charms. None of the modes are supposed to represent spells of equivalent cmc. Hard, blanket counterspells are just NOT two mana anymore. Sorry.
Seriously don't understand people saying every one after the first is a useless bear. How many things are you exiling to the first one? Is the first one never dying? Unless you're in desperate need of the life/disruption just save a few things for the second ooze!
I'm going Stab Wound. Not sure on the general speed of the format, but even if you're not using it as spot removal, you can diminish a bigger guy and rack up damage surprisingly quickly.
Switcheroo is no were close to as good as mind control was. Mind control was one of the if not the biggest uncommon bomb to open in any draft set in about the four years I've been drafting. I'm sure it still is a pretty good card but it isn't better then a broken card for a limited format.
You are still forced to give up your creature and if one of the creature is not on the battlefield (like it was killed in response) when switcheroo resolves then you don't get control of your opponents creature.
Since it says "damage that would reduce your life..." the interaction with life loss will be interesting.
Lets say you are at 7 life and lose 5 life due to some effect.
Now you are at 2 life and get 1 damage from an effect.
Will you be at 7 life again?
Then it would combo with life-gain-triggers, and for this there are already some cards in M13 that are build for this...
At the beginning of the next end step will trigger once, at the beginning of the next end step. If that delayed trigger gets stifled or some such, that's it. It isn't coming back.
Ball Lightning's ability however will trigger EVERY end step, until it's gone. One stifle won't keep it around forever.
2 Returned Phalanx
3 Vaporkin
2 Omenspeaker
1 Blood-toll Harpy
1 Mogis's Marauder
2 Disciple of Phenax (only card I didn't actively like)
1 Master of Waves
5 Grey Merchant of Asphodel
1 Prognostic Sphinx
2 Voyage's End
1 Griptide
1 Sea God's Revenge
1 Sip of Hemlock
Went 4-0. Can't imagine the devotion stuff will flow that well often, but Merchants are just a beating.
Doesn't matter; can splash. Better.
How on earth did you draw that comparison?
I will say that she is very underwhelming.
No, because you won't be at 7 or more life.
