Feb 22, 2012Post Affinity posted a message on Hygiene ShmygieneSomething funny about that, I've played with the same protectors for years and I never had those marks, that is, until I moved and started to play in Santiago, once there, I had those small marks everywhere!Posted in: JollyTheOctopuss Blog
I believe those marks are pollution on the air, and most importantly, in the tables that get stuck to your sleeves. Most probably they appear doe to more younger players not using playmats wich makes their sleeves get dirtier much easier. And well, playmats are kinda costly, so yeah, I'd kind of justify that act. But that's just my opinion, sorry for invading your blog. -
Feb 20, 2012Post Affinity posted a message on My first standard birthing pod deck!Well, it certainly it's all around the place, but I guess you already knew that. First thing I see here is that it needs the other titans, they are just that good. It's kinda annoying how they dominate the format, but that's not what should be discussed here. I believe Pod is more about utility creatures than hard to remove ones, so I'd keep slime before Vorapede, besides, at that cost there won't be as much stuff to ramp to as to make vorapede that more threatening. Solemn Simulacrum is also a card that almost always goes in these decks since the ramp and card draw are excellent when you go with pod.Posted in: dooglestyle Blog
Something fun about the masticore is how it can use up all the creatures that end up dead due to the birthing pod itself, that's good thinking.
I tend to like U more than B in pod decks, somehow the fact that the clone effects are so abundant in standard make that color stand out more, I mean, just cloning a titan with phantasmal image is devastating...
Well, that's my opinion, I hope it served for something. -

Feb 13, 2012Post Affinity posted a message on El clan que nunca fue - The clan that never was.I swear to god it's the first time I read of this idea, and I certainly support it. I'd gladly change to this clan. (My current clan is pretty dead.) Having no spanish speaking moderator may lead to some problems with the site staff though.Posted in: The Blog of Gaea's Regent
However, count me in with the idea. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Anyways I just wanted to demostrate that these are the 3 colors with the more card destruction, but it seems that you liked the ultimatum:D.
I also wwas thinking that these 3 colors have pingers in any form or other:
Black has blightspeaker and disciple of tevesh szat
Red has prodigal pyromancer and white has crossbow infantry and co. so you could have something like
Battlefield Inquisidor 1WBR
Creature-Angel Cleric
Flying
T: Battlefield Inquisidor deals 2
damage ot target creature or player.
2/2
I also liked the idea of the graveyard mechanics, like the 3 shards are working together without even knowing it.
Also, Whats the name of this Shard?
Now that i think of it these 3 are the colors with more card destruction, red can destroy lands and artifacts and deal damage to creatures.
Black can destroy creatures and also lands and white can destroy artifacts, enchantments and creatures. While green only has artifact and enchantment destruction and minor land destruction.
So this shard could be the shard with most destruction spells, like:
BWR Charm (BWR)
Instant
Choose one: Destroy target enchantment, destroy target
nonbasic land or destroy target nonblack creature.
or
Catastrophic Ultimatum (BBWWWRR)
Sorcery
Destroy all creatures, all lands and all player
discard their hands.
I don't know if this is broken, seems similar to Apocalypse
also False prophet could be a good and flavorfull reprint.
As how I see it I think:
The White-black-red shard with the prophets and cults make me think it could be like a set with many rebels and clerics. In races seems like human avatar and elementals, maybe some other humanoid race. It's main theme may be creature/land destruction maybe both?. It's abilities could be recruiting (rebels) and maybe offering (avatars).
The Green-black-blue shard seems like another said a gloomy jungle with lovecraftian feeling. With a race for power by any means. It's main classes assasin and rogue?. It's races could be fungus, humans, elven, merfolk maybe. It's theme may be combat tricks, maybe withering.
It may have the ability that is the negative graft (plague?) or scavenge X as someone else said.
The Red-blue-white shard seems like Mercadia without phyrexian, at least that is how I imagine it.
It could have a snow theme or maybe imprint on non artifacts, it could be interesting.
It's main classes could be advisor, wizard, pirate and artificer. It's races could be goblin, human, some other hmanoid race. Dwarf maybe?.
The Black-white-green shard seems like ravnica but without the green wilds, nor the blue guilds and without the ghost quarter. Really overcrowed.
It's main races could be spirit, zombie, human, elf maybe. It's classes could be shaman, cleric, mystic and things like that. It has clearly a graveyard theme.
It's ability could be dredge or gravebane as someone else said, something that gives the sensation that nothing remains dead.
The Blue-green-red shard seem like a biomancer-artificer world, something like we never had seen before. It would be overruned with mutants, wizards and weird creature types (maybe weird as a creature type).
It should have some ability that goes with sorceries and instants and creates tokens, the best I could think of was Flashback, but I hope someone comes with something better.
If you separate the design of the shards in different threads i'd like to work in the white-black-red shard or the green-blue-black shard.
Though i like the entwine version more.
Also another idea I had
Burning AEther UUU
Instant Rare
Return target creature to
the stack, then counter it.
Also for other oddly colors creature killers:
Enchantress Touch 1G
Sorcery Common
Choose one: Target creature becomes an
enchantment until end of turn, or destroy
target enchantment
Enwine 1G
Hunting Basilisk 2G
Creature Basilisk Rare
Flash, Deathtouch
1/1 (Technically it is a dark banishing with legs)
Mogg Assasination 1R
Sorcery Uncommon
Flip a coin, if you win, destroy
target creature, if you lose, an
opponent chooses a creature, then
destroy it.
Mogg assasins are cheap, though they are
known for selecting the wrong target.
they were something like this:
Doomed Renower 2UU
Legendary Creature-Shapeshifter Rare
U,T: Target creatures becomes a copy of
Doomed Renower until en of turn.
He hes doomed to becomes famous, and die in the process.
2/2
Turn to nothing 3UU
Instant Uncommon
Target creature's power becomes 0 until end
of turn.
Licid Curse 2UU
Sorcery Uncommon
Target creature becomes a Enchantment Aura
until end of turn with enchant creature. (It is destroyed
for having no target).
Are they balanced/work within the rules?
2 Ydwen Efreet
2 Mijae Djinn
4 Winter Sky
2 Mana Crypt
3 Puppet's Verdict
4 Chance Encounter
2 Bottle of Suleiman
2 Planar Chaos
4 Krark's Thumb
3 Goblin Bomb
2 Fighting Chance
3 Fiery Gambit
2 Desperate Gambit
23 Mountain
It is really fun to play and it may get pretty annoying when you get planar chaos and krak's tumb in game.
I have heard of coin flipping decks in the past so it surprised me it wasn't on this thread.
Well, the wayfarers are there. But in the other cases you're right. For some reason today appeared a wave of mono blue players with some faeries and i loose mostly for shackles (or because they disconected when they saw my deck:rolleyes:) so i'll add 2 oblivion rings main and move the glowriders to sideboard to see how it works
4 Daru Spiritualist
4 Auriok Champion
2 Oblivion Ring
4 Martyr of Sands
4 Soltari Priest
4 Soul Warden
3 True Believer
2 Weathered Wayfarer
3 Endless Horizons
3 Goblin Charbelcher
23 Plains
1 True Believer
3 Order of the Whiteclay
3 Kataki, the price of war
4 Disenchant
So my idea here was to use the charbelcher-endless horizons combo with some cleric defense. The champion and the warden help to obtain life at the start of the game, the martyr also helps, the glowrider is a very good card against control as i discovered together with true believer when you know how to use them, also the alchemist can absorb almost all the damage you would receive as it counts each source for separate and finally the wayfarer is in case you get mana screwed.
In the sideboard i've got order of the whiteclay against control also (it revives countered creatures) kataki against affinity and disenchant against most combo deck, though i need help with the sideboard.
Now that the top is banned (wheee) the worst matchup for this deck should be slide or tron, or at least that is what i have seen while testing.
Some opinion?
Edit: Glowriders moved to side, oblivions in.
So I started to invent fun decks and comboes and testing them in workstation and the local FNM until I created a very good deck that no one had heard of it. Actually i won a booster box playing with it in a tournament, so I decided to join a forum to post it and get some ideas for improvement.
I also live in Chile (that is South America) so it is very possible that my english isn't accurate.
